About

The Shay of DanielShay's began in the beauty industry in 1992. Her life journey brought her to Memphis in 1994. After three years taking care of amazing people in the Memphis area she met a mentor who gave her the great opportunity of studying not only how to color hair, but the chemistry of hair color and why hair color lines are different, better, or inferior! While continuing to do hair in Memphis she traveled all over the east coast teaching hair color, cutting and texturizing techniques for a hair color manufacturer. During this time Shay found joy in sharing her knowledge. Shay’s joy in sharing knowledge shaped the apprentice program DanielShay's offers stylists today. Shay attributes the program’s great success to the quality of
the work done by DanielShay's stylists! In the year 2000 Shay met Daniel and the rest is history! The effort and time put into traveling shifted to staying a little closer to home and building a salon with a beautiful laid back atmosphere, equipped with the highest quality products and focused on a higher standard in customer service! DanielShay's extensive educational curriculum insures you a stylist dedicated in keeping up with the ever changing technologies, techniques and trends. The reward Shay feels watching her team become successful professionals shall surely inspire expansion in the future of DanielShay's!

Shay believes...

The differences in ordinary vs. extraordinary are the little differences!

I had my updo done at this salon. My stylist was very friendly and styled my hair to compliment my dress. Everyone loved my hair style and it stayed up all night till I took it down!! That's important.

Ashley and Mandy from Daniel Shay's were great! They came to the church and did my hair and makeup and also some of my bridesmaids' hair and makeup. They were both very sweet and professional, they arrived on time and ready to work, and they made me look and feel like a princess. I am so happy I decided to hire them.

Owner has POOR communication

I have been going to DS for 5 years. Ive had mostly
Great haircuts. I have sent my mom here a few times and referred others. BUT due to my recent experiences i am unfortunately not going to be returning. Several months ago i booked with Shay to switch things up and get a shorter haircut. Unfortunately, the same day as my appointment an hour before I got a call saying that Shay has left for the day was not able to make my appointment, but she passed my appointment to another hairstylist for Context I booked with Shay because I had heard great things about Her experience in cutting shorter hair, so I was pretty disappointed to be passed over. Fortunately, it turned out that the stylist was fabulous and I've booked her for the past five or six haircuts. Although I am now going to go a little shorter and headed out for vacation and just thought I would book with Shay for a fresh look. I booked a while in advance knowing that her schedule is full usually,. 2 Days before my BOOKED haircut and hours spent on refining the hairstyle that I would like to get I get a call saying that Shay is canceling my appointment yet again. Keep in mind that she has open appointments on her website for herself for anyone to book, yet i was told she is not accepting new clients. Pro tip Shay, take your name off or simply put on your site you are not taking new clients! Two days before getting a haircut, I have no time to prepare for another appointment and usually a great stylist are few and far between and booked out. I know that this is just hair and I'll live, but she has made it difficult to trust in her salon.. I unfortunately just don't have time for inconsistencies or poor communication. One last pro tip Shay don't have your receptionist call when you could easily pick up the phone and call one of your long-term customers of your salon for a mistake that you made. I would imagine the least thing that you could've done was to Call and apologize on your behalf. So if you have time on your hands to be jerked around or just like to be canceled on, go for it!
BUT for those reasons, I'm out
We're all about trust. Our community relies on honest reviews to help you make those big decisions with ease.
