D & H specializes in combining timeless luxury design with the modern brides sensibility for earth friendly creations. Our unique and inspired designs are handcrafted in San Francisco from reclaimed precious metals and ethically sourced gemstones. We specialize in creating meaningful client experiences through our custom design and professional jewelry services in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Custom Jewelry Design

D&H Jewelers is a design house that revels in the opportunity to blend these old-world techniques with modern technologies. Our design team has created hundreds of custom jewelry pieces, collaborating with our clients through each stage of the project from conception to delivery. The meaningful process of creating one’s custom engagement ring, wedding band, or personal treasured item, is our specialty and something we delight in.

The custom jewelry design process starts with a one-on-one design consultation with our jewelry experts, after which, we hand-select the perfect conflict free gemstones and recycled metals for each tailor-made project. We work with:

-GIA certified diamonds, including Botswana and Canadian origins
-Up-cycled diamonds, including vintage and antique Old Mine Cut and European Cut diamonds with third party SCS Global ethical origin certification
-Sapphires and colored stones from American and small artisan mines with clear chains of custody and Fair Trade certification
-Rose-cut, unique shaped, and fancy colored diamonds

After the materials are chosen, the custom jewelry creation starts to take life through a process of sketching, wax modeling, and Computer Aided Design (CAD). We encourage client feedback at this stage, and once the design is finalized, each piece is individually hand-crafted by our team of jewelers.

We offer additional specialty design services such as resetting/redesigning your existing gemstones and jewelry, gemstone re-polishing, and hand engraving. All D&H custom-made jewelry includes a complimentary appraisal for insurance purposes.

Jewelry Appraisals

Wear and enjoy your precious heirlooms with the peace of mind that comes with insurance protection. At D&H Jewelers we offer jewelry appraisal services for insurance purposes. An official appraisal is the legal document required by insurers for coverage.

The process of having an item appraised includes a one-on-one appointment with our expert on-staff Graduate Gemologist with over 25 years experience. The jewelry item is evaluated, analyzed and tested. Any relevant value factors as well as historical and artistic factors are explained and the legal appraisal document is produced and signed.

Excellent Service and Design

If you're looking for unique rings that are custom designed, this is the right place for you. The team at D&H jewelers including Lauren and Shawn are very knowledgeable and can help select rings that become part of a beautiful memory. The fact that they are sustainable and ethically sourced was important to us. Their complementary wine makes for a great shopping experience too :). There was a particular ring that my fiancé really liked and I wanted to give as a surprise. I was very impressed with Lauren's memory and prompt responses when I emailed her. Even after some time had passed, Lauren remembered his ring size and customization that he preferred. Shawn was promptly communicating me throughout the design and sent a picture when it was complete. He was very knowledgeable about the ring and the minerals in the meteorite that was from Namibia. We are very happy with the ring and the experience we had with D&H team. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for unique designs and great customer service.

Making an Idea into a Lifetime

Shawn and the D&H Jewelers' team have been helping me with the perfect piece of jewelry for almost a decade. Shawn helped my wife and I design and create her engagement ring, he created my wedding band from a piece of my mother's jewelry, and ten years later is helping my wife and I create an anniversary ring. D&H have helped repair family heirlooms, find the perfect necklace for my perfect person, and always been a trusted referral for any of my close family and friends. D&H has provided me with incredible services and extensive knowledge, while always making me feel listened to and never pressured. If you want a piece of jewelry that is unique, special, and stunning with service that feels like you are visiting family, D&H is the PLACE!

Amazing service, excellent product

We worked with Shawn at D&H for both my engagement ring and our wedding bands and cannot recommend them more strongly! My finance worked with Shawn on a friend's recommendation, and over the course of several visits turned my fiance's idea into a stunning ring. D&H was phenomenal when it came to resizing and making modifications to the ring to ensure it was absolutely perfect.

I wasn't sure how we could come up with a wedding band that would complement my unique engagement ring, but Shawn knocked it out of the park. We went in with a basic idea and he took it and modified it to work with my ring. He came up with several different designs and was even able to combine the CAD drawing with that of my engagement ring so we could see how the rings would work together.

If you're looking for unique, high quality rings that are conflict-free and ethically sourced, there is no place better than D&H!

Unparalleled service and style

D&H offer a personalized service that you will not find elsewhere. Their design team can produce literally anything you can imagine. We brought an heirloom wedding band in, looking for a ring that could be worn next to it. Andre of D&H designed the new ring of matching white gold, with the same tapered band pattern, and with the new sapphire set just above the diamonds so that the rings would fit together. Finished with an art deco engraving, the result is stunning.

All of the people at D&H were fantastic to work with--responsive, flexible, and highly professional. They are small, so don't expect the huge range of settings you'd find at one of the chains, but the selection they do carry is meticulously curated. Think most engagement jewelry is blah? Go look at D&H. They carry some of the most gorgeous Jennifer Dawes and Rebecca Overmann designs you'll ever see. The fact that they also sustainably source their gems and metals is just a lovely bonus! We initially were going to custom order an engagement ring through them, and they were incredibly helpful and understanding. They immediately got to work finding stones that would fit our style and budget. We didn't end up getting the custom ring, but only because of a serendipitous coincidence. Less than a week after our first consultation, a ring they'd previously designed arrived at the store. Our consultant immediately saw that it fit our specs and our budget, and put it on hold for me before it even went to the sales floor. It's been three months, and I still can't believe how gorgeous my ring is.

This jeweler sells recycled-precious-metal jewelry with ethically sourced stones. They work with many local designers, and the most amazing people work there. Plus, there's a wine bar in the back of the store. This place is amazing.

My wife and I purchased our (custom) wedding rings from D&H - hers was a Damascus steel band with yellow gold inlay, and mine was an acid-etched Damascus steel band with white gold inlay.

I went back and forth between rating D&H a three and a four, and ultimately went with a four because the our rings were so nice, and Audra was so friendly and helpful.

Pros:
+Beautiful and unique selection of jewelry. If you are at all into unusual pieces and/or alternative metals, this is the place for you.
+Audra was very friendly and helpful throughout the process, and generally made an effort to stay within our budget.
+Our finished products fit us well and looked great.
+Free wine! Yes please.

Cons:
-Service was occasionally sloppy - we once stopped by at a time when Audra wasn't in, and the man staffing the counter took incorrect ring measurements, which had to be corrected later.
-Either the original manufacturers or D&H messed up our final order - they accidentally acid-etched her ring instead of mine, delaying our pick-up while they corrected the problem.

One note: The acid etching on my ring has already started to scratch with daily wear, so would recommend an un-etched ring- my wife loves hers. This seems like the fault of the process rather than the store, however.
