Cranbrook House and Gardens was the absolute perfect place to host our wedding. I grew up in the area and it was the only location I could imagine having a wedding. We had a ceremony elsewhere, and Cranbrook hosted our reception. Cocktail hour was held right behind the house and then a tent was setup down by the looking pool.

The grounds are so incredibly beautiful, it is the perfect place to take wedding pictures. There are so many wonderful spots throughout the gardens that make for really special photos.

Rhonda Reed is the coordinator of events held at the house and she is great. You have the option of a few different caterers, but we used Cranbrook's catering team Chartwells, and they were fantastic. The food was amazing (salmon and short ribs) and the bar service was great as well. My parents especially were extremely impressed with the service Chartwells provided. Catherine Beaubien is their events director and she was really great in helping us plan the menu so that we had the best food possible within our budget.

Cranbrook is definitely an expensive choice of venue, but if you have the budget I completely recommend it...you can't top it in the metro Detroit area.

Cranbrook House & Gardens is the most unbelievably beautiful venue in Southeast Michigan (trust me, I did some very thorough searching during my 2 yr engagement)!! I had originally fallen in love with Meadowbrook from seeing photos, but when I went to see it in person, their gardens left me unimpressed (it's actually on a golf course). Cranbrook was another story all together. I saw some photos online, but when they have on their website does not do it justice! Just driving in from Lone Pine Rd it feels magical, all the beautiful stone and the lush trees and weeping willows, even the entrance is breathtaking. There are so many gardens to choose from for your ceremony, all beautiful, and the house is historic and amazing as well. We wanted an outdoor ceremony, so it was important to us to find a place with a beautiful indoor option as well, in case of rain. Cranbrook has it, they have a gorgeous library with floor to ceiling windows. Absolutely beautiful there. The site is facing a lake, so you can have waterfront photos... plus there are beautiful fountains and sculptures everywhere! The best word I can use to describe it all is magical, really. Rhonda Reed was our coordinator there and she was an absolute pleasure to work with, very helpful and professional. We lucked out with a perfect sunny day and had the outdoor ceremony of my dreams! One of the best things about a venue this gorgeous is that you don't need much for decor. We rented chivari chairs and simply had rose petals to line the aisle, that was all we needed. All of the gardens are beautifully maintained and the variety of plants and flowers is just astounding. We chose the lake front view for our ceremony, it is very dramatic with the tall evergreen trees framing the view and it made for some incredible photos. You will not find a more beautiful outdoor venue in Michigan, period!

Beautiful location! Horrible coordinator. I was originally told I they only booked one event per day...they lied. Since I was only having my ceremony there they book 3 other weddings that day without telling me or verifying the time of my ceremony. Could've been a HUGE disaster, luckily things turned out well. When I talked to Jane the coordinator and asked to speak to her supervisor to complain she refused to give me his number. Despite the HORRIBLE coordinating the beauty of this place made up for it. That is saying ALOT!!!
