Out of the Ball Park

Our guests GUSHED over the food at our wedding. The presentation was stunning and the stations accommodated all our guests without creating long lines or tables waiting forever to be called. Common Plea helped us create a varied menu and were open to adapting to our needs. The extremely polite and efficient staff made it all seem effortless.

You can't go wrong with this vendor! Throughout the whole process, Stacy at Common Plea was at our side, coaching us through it and was extremely attentive and supportive. People are still raving about how amazing the food was. It's a little pricey but you absolutely get above and beyond what you pay for. I would do it all over again with them. They are phenomenal and a must if you want fabulous food and excellent service at your wedding.

I was a little worried b/c I had to use commonplea b/c it was the only caterer that Heinz Hall used. My worries were washed away as soon as I started working with Martin. I absolutely loved working with him and Commonplea catering. I was on a budget and he worked with me to plan a gorgeous wedding and menu. My husband and I don't like cake and he helped me plan a unique and special dessert fos us to share. I was planning my wedding from 2 states away, and he made it so easy. My guests said that is was "the most elegant wedding they've ever been to." I would work with him and Heinz Hall again and again!

Review for July 2025 Wedding

Commonplea Catering was the catering vendor for the Heinz History Center. We still hear from our guests about the food and how tasty everything was. We wanted some seafood options at the cocktail hour and they were able to accommodate that outside of the passed appetizers we had. They had a tasting event a few months before our wedding where we got to try everything before choosing our menu options

Absolutely perfect! Our guests were raving about the food! I worked with Maggie for our reception and I couldn't be happier. She was so incredibly helpful and made me feel so at ease. She responded quickly to any questions we had and helped with multiple last minute changes. She accommodated for kids' meals and multiple food allergies. She even had one specific meal made for one guest with multiple allergies. She just went above and beyond what we expected and the food was awesome on top of it. Don't forget to bring 2 friends to the tasting! You'll all be rolling out of there stuffed to the brim.

Our wedding was at the Heinz History Center, where Common Plea is the assigned caterer. At first, I was a bit bummed that we only had one option of who to work with, but quickly realized why the History Center selected Common Plea as their preferred vendor (and why I was so thankful that they were!).

From our first phone call, Martin was a true professional. He has vast experience that he is happy to share, and is continually working to make the entire planning process and the Big Day a special one, while working within your budget. Additionally, Martin’s assistant Denise was also a pleasure to work with. They make a wonderful team and are on top of all of the details. The group tasting event was a fun and great experience where we got to see and taste numerous dishes to help select the menu for our day.

Martin and Denise also acted somewhat like wedding coordinators leading up to and on the day of our event by assisting with the timeline and set-up of the event. Additionally, they partnered well with all of our vendors, from the cake baker to the DJ.

In addition to the first-class level of service, the food was superior! Our guests continue to rave about the (Pittsburgh themed) hors d'oeuvres, dual-entrée dinner, and dessert display. Everything was presented beautifully and tasted amazing! I highly recommend Common Plea if you are looking for a top-notch event at a reasonable price!

Maggie Nicholson was our rep and she did an amazing job in ensuring our wedding reception was a huge success. From big items like the food and booze (most important part) down to smaller details like the candy table and late-night mini-milkshakes w/ cookies, Maggie and the Common Plea impressed us and our guests big time.

We loved the Common Plea. Maggie was there to help us every step of the way. No matter how small the question we always received a prompt response. We did a tapas-style reception which turned out to be amazing. We let Maggie guide us and it really paid off. The food was delicious and unique. Not a typical chicken or beef wedding. We had everything from thai pumpkin soup sips to sushi plates to cheesecake lollipops. We couldn't have been happier in the planning process and how everything turned out. Maggie will really take charge of everything if you let her and you should because she is an expert and will make your day run smoothly.

The Common Plea did an amazing job at our wedding. We worked with Linda-she is so professional and thinks of everything (so we didn't have to!) Both the food and the service was wonderful and they paid special attention to the bridal party. They also host an amazing tasting event where you can try everything before finalizing your food. I would highly recommend the Common Plea!
