The team at Colgate were really helpful in giving us babysitter lists for our out of town guests, answering any questions we had about parking, water hook ups, etc. They made us feel very welcome to be having our wedding at Colgate!

This place will always have a special place in my heart. It is simply breathtaking. Every place on campus has a spectacular view that makes having a wedding there the perfect wedding backdrop. All our pictures were stunning, the staff more than accommodating, and the venue loved by all our guests. Please consider this for your special day, there is a reason why it's ranked one of the most beautiful college campus. LOVED.

We recently got married in the Merrill House gardens on the Colgate University campus. We worked with Maureen McKinnon at the University and she was fabulous. She recommended excellent vendors and had insight on all aspects of the event, her experience was priceless. She was responsive to our requests and met with us whenever we were in the area, even if it was on a weekend.

The week of our wedding, Maureen went to meet deliveries that were made before we arrived and the morning of the wedding she was out helping to set up the ceremony, which we never imagined she would do. Getting married on a lawn with no electricity and no bathrooms seemed like a daunting task a year ago, but Maureen helped guide us through the planning process and made sure we did not forget any details. The wedding was beautiful thanks to her help!

James and I were married on February 17, 2012.

As soon as we walked into the Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School, we knew we had our wedding venue. You have to visit Colgate to really understand the "old worlde beauty" that captured us. Everything about the chapel (where we were married) and the venue (where we had our reception) was exceptional.

We met with Jim Reynolds of Special Events Catering. Jim and his staff were outstanding with everything from the venue planning, to the chapel rehearsal, to our reception. We received high compliments from our guests on all aspects of our event as it related to Colgate.

Jim availed himself to us throughout our wedding planning, and even took time to answer any wedding questions we had that were not related to our planning with Colgate.

We selected a Menu package that included a pastry table, and if there was an item on the menu that we wanted to change, Jim was flexible with that. We even added a hot chocolate station, which was not part of our menu package! Jim gave extremely helpful suggestions, but ultimately he stated it was "our day", so he did not try to push anything on us which was appreciated. It was a little overwhelming selecting our hors d'ouvres because a selection menu was not available (since they have so many to choose from). I would have liked to see more than one platter of hors d'ouvres for the entire bridal party during the formal picture hour, as we did not attend the cocktail hour since we all needed to be available for pictures.

We made our own table centerpieces and pew decorations; I was able to go into the chapel on the morning of our wedding to set up our pew decorations (Jim offered to have this taken care of for me but I wanted to do that myself), and we were encouraged to visit the ball room before our guests entered to ensure that everything looked as we had envisioned it.

The Dining Hall Manager surprised us by setting up part of James' Grooms Gift that I bought him on the pastry table for everyone to see. She did a great job with candles and the high display! James got a kick out of that, and I was touched at this special extra detail.

Our package also included lit tiki torches guiding our guests to the building entrance, as well as parking lot attendants, both of which was appreciated since the weather was a little snowy and blowy.

We are still awaiting our formal wedding pictures, however the pictures that were taken by other guests took very well both in the Chapel and in the Ball Room.

We would recommend Colgate to anyone.

This is the most beautiful place to have a wedding. the building is just perfect and old and has special history. I would defenitely reccomend this place to everyone!!

As alumni, it was so amazing to return to where we met to get married. Colgate's campus is absolutely stunning and while many guests wondered why we were dragging them out to what seemed to them to be in the middle of nowhere they all remarked that they understood why the second they stepped foot onto Colgate.

The chapel was especially beautiful and the organ sounded so great for our procession and recessional. We had our cocktail hour on the first floor and upper lawn of Merrill House and then set up a tent on the lower lawn for the reception. The weather was perfect and the gardens and sunset provided such a beautiful backdrop.

Maureen, our Colgate contact, was so nice and helpful. She was even present the day of our wedding. The staff from B &G was also great.

Colgate provides an absolutely gorgeous setting for your wedding. There is a beautifully intimate chapel which seats around 140. They have a very nice bridal room just downstairs from the chapel. They also provide a chapel hostess who contacts you a few weeks prior to your wedding day to go over some details and answer any questions. She was present at the rehearsal and got there early for the ceremony. Our chapel hostess was extremely friendly and professional. She put me at ease by making sure everyone knew where they were supposed to be and when. There is also a wonderful reception hall on the opposite side of the building. A separate catering company by the name of Special Events Catering takes care of the food and service for the reception. The grounds are gorgeous and perfect for pictures. We loved that we could have our ceremony, reception, and photos all in one place and didn't have to make our guest jump through hoops going here, there, and everywhere. Excellent value for what you're getting in return!

The venue itself is gorgeous- a historical building, with dark wood and beautiful grounds. There was not one bad photo taken that day, in part because of how beautiful the venue was.

Jim and his staff at Colgate are amazing. There are 3 managers that run various parts of the ceremony and wedding reception, ensuring everything is taken care of. They do an absolutely amazing job. Our wedding ran perfectly smooth- I later found out there were minor issues but the staff was discreet and professional and took care of everything themselves. There was never a moment before or during the wedding that myself, or my family, was stressed about minor details. We knew the staff would take care of everything, and they did! Having your wedding at Colgate is like booking a venue and hiring a wedding planner all in one!

By far the best company I have ever worked with! Jim does an absolutely fabulous job and helped make my dream wedding come true. He was so paitent and answered all of my many emails very promptly. His staff is amazing and were so kind to all of my guests the day of our wedding. The food was delicious (I am still getting comments how good it was and I was married over five months ago!) and the location is stunning with gorgeous views and a beautiful chapel. We had a photobooth that fit perfectly outside on their terrace, which was such a great addition for guests who wanted to enjoy the outdoor senery. Thank you to Jim and his staff for making my fairy tale come true!
