Castello di Sorgnano

Forte Sorgnano was such an incredible venue to host our wedding. We booked this venue for our wedding in June 2026 and we could not have picked a more beautiful place. The restored castle set against the uninterrupted view of the umbrian countryside made for unbelievable photos and our guests couldn’t stop talking about how amazing the setting was.
We had about 40 guests staying in the hamlet itself and another 20 or so in the nearby sister accommodation. The accommodation was comfortable and had loads of space for people to relax and get ready before the ceremony. We hosted a pasta party the night before the wedding and a pizza party the day after the wedding and on both occasions the food was delicious, everyone had loads to eat and the service was great. On the wedding day itself, the terrace made a stunning backdrop for the ceremony, we had another delicious meal under the marquee outside and the courtyard of the castle makes a brilliant venue for a dancefloor into the night. Everyone was so complimentary about the food, including some very picky eaters, and the castle made such a good environment for the Bridal party to get ready and for our guests to have a great party. Overall having such a secluded space completely to ourselves for the whole stay made everything feel so intimate and meant everyone could relax and enjoy themselves. Marco made everything so easy for us as well, he was great through the planning process, suggesting what would work best with the space and suggesting vendors he’d worked with which we were a bit nervous about as we live in the UK and had no contacts in Italy. On the day he worked so well with our wedding coordinator so that problems were being solved before we even knew they were happening. Marco was always so relaxed and approachable but really organised and looked after the details. He even offered to stitch up the father of the groom after he fell down the hill and hit his head.
It’s a beautiful venue and if you’re looking for an intimate wedding venue you’d struggle to do better.

Victor and I found this place on Instagram while searching from Mexico. We got in touch with Marco, the manager, and eventually finalized our reservation with him.

From that moment on, everything was very clear and communication was always prompt. We managed every detail through video calls, and he recommended Alessandra as the wedding planner for our wedding. From the very beginning, everything came together perfectly.

We were able to resolve every detail and every question, despite organizing a wedding from abroad. The responsiveness of the team and their willingness to meet with us through video calls gave us the confidence we needed to keep moving forward with our plans.

I 100% recommend this property, both for hosting an event at the castle and for staying in the villas. Everything was excellent. We were truly impressed with the venue—it completely exceeded our expectations. We had already fallen in love with it through the photos, but seeing it in person was even better, and the service was exceptional.

This venue is absolutely gorgeous. My husband and I live in Florida and wanted an international wedding and never saw the venue in person until our wedding. Marco, the venue owner, provided us with numerous recommendations for vendors. Additionally, he was always very prompt with responding when we had questions. All of our guests were able to stay on property for 2 nights. The food at the venue for our welcome dinner and wedding dinner was some of the best food we have had in our lives. We had multiple choices for food. Our wedding was perfect and Marco and Lavinia our wedding planner made sure everything went according to plan. We have nothing but amazing things to say about Marco and Tenuta di Forte Sorgnano. Our guests also had an amazing time and are still raving about their experience and
the food. We truly will be dreaming of this place and our wedding day for the rest of our lives. Thank you Marco for outstanding service!

Our 3-night wedding celebration was held at Forte Sorgnano. Our experience was incredible from start to finish!

First, I would love to recognize the owner of the venue, Marco. Marco was amazing from the very start! My now husband & I had a million questions when choosing our venue and Marco was so responsive & helpful through it all! We felt so comfortable with him from the start. He was very knowledgeable and informative about pricing of his services, as well as focused lots of information on potential vendors. Once we had everything planned with Marco and we arrived at Forte Sorgnano for our wedding, we felt extremely welcomed by him & all of his staff! Marco was available pretty much 24/7 to help us or any of our guests with any request!

We booked many of the apartments available on the property. Every room was spacious & very clean! The views are just breath-taking as well. We felt so lucky to be in such a beautiful slice of Italy, celebrating with all of our friends and family.

We were blown away at the activity options as well, such as wine tastings, truffle hunting, mountain biking, etc! Seventeen people in our group all had a blast in a bread & pasta cooking class hosted on the property. We made so many memories! We also booked a welcome “pizza party” for all our guests to attend! It was fantastic. Breakfast, lunch and dinner was also served daily from Forte Sorgnano’s kitchen. The food was always fresh & delicious!

As for the wedding day, it was absolutely magical. Marco was in constant communication with us, and let us wait until the final moment to choose where each event would take place at the beautiful castle as we were hoping the weather would cooperate! The Castle is absolutely stunning in every way. It has an apartment for the bride & groom to stay in on the night of the wedding. Every single space of the castle is just beautiful. We were lucky to have our ceremony on the upper terrace, overlooking the Umbrian countryside! Our wedding was everything we ever could have dreamed of. Marco and his staff were available throughout the entire night in case we needed anything (although, everything went perfectly!). The food was delicious as well! We had so many options, all our guests left very full and happy!

I don’t think I could write how truly amazing our experience was in one review. Forte Sorgnano was everything we could have hoped for & so much more. The staff are so friendly, the property is so beautiful. We will definitely be returning one day! Thank you so much to Marco & the Forte Sorgnano team for making our wedding dreams come true!

Marco and his team were very accommodating and kind. They were flexible and knowledgeable. The castle was the most beautiful venue for a wedding event - really breathtaking. The view is exceptional and the charm is really felt in the walls. The food was very good and there are many choices. Seriously, great venue that is mindful of budget.

We didn't choose Castello di Sorgnano for one reason only, and that is, the venue couldn't sleep all 60 of our guests in one place. However, we still wanted to leave this review so that you should consider it if you have less than our guests.

I'm not sure I remember how we came across Castello di Sorgnano but I wish I could tell myself in that moment that by picking this venue, we're about to have the most beautiful, stunning, perfect wedding - better than we could have ever imagined or dreamt of.

From the moment we met Marco, the venue owner, we felt at home. On a personal level, he is kind, courteous, honest, fun, and so incredibly patient. We got to know him via a handful of Zoom calls and WhatsApp messages over the months of planning our wedding from the States, but it wasn't until we arrived at the venue that we truly understood the gravity of the choice we had made and how deeply thankful we were that Marco made the choice he did to create the space, venue, villas, etc. I imagine that if his parents had the privilege of seeing even a small part, they would be bursting with joy and pride at all that he has done. It was truly a dream.

If you're trying to make the incredibly hard decision of picking a venue, I hope you'll hear these words and know that I mean them from the depths of my heart: Choose Castello di Sorgnano / Tenuta di Forte Sorgnano. Every dream you have for your special day will be met and go beyond your wildest expectations.

My husband and I are from Chicago and chose Italy for our late October wedding because it's one of our favorite places in the world... now, how we convinced 34 of our friends and family to travel to another country is something we're still pinching ourselves about but I digress.
I'll keep this part short but from the truffle hunting, cooking class, pizza/pasta welcome dinner and dancing, wedding, and reception there was not a single minute I would have changed.

Marco and his team (shout out to Jack!) are incredible to work with and every single detail of the venue is perfect. They were so patient with every one of our guests, accommodating to every need, dietary restrictions, and request for more wine or Aperol spritz, and on top of that SO enjoyable to be around. Also, we had 3 babies under 3 and they loved the playground and petting zoo and delicious food! I could write an entirely different review on how unbelieveably delicious the food was but I will spare you the novel, it was INCREDIBLE. My husband and I are fairly particular about food and have been blessed enough to find ourselves in some pretty *fancy* places but none that have left us (and ALL of our guests) still talking about it many days later. My mouth is watering thinking about it.
It was perfect and tailor-made for us. Every moment, every person there and involved.

I'll leave you with this, you will not regret for a moment picking this place. After, you will be talking about it every chance you get and you will be planning your return as you drive away.
