We hired Brian on the recommendation of our wedding planner. We booked him about a year in advance of our wedding. We had several calls with him before the wedding to map out our expectations and the different songs we wanted to hear. We don't feel like the calls were useful because there were some odd moments during our reception and it seemed like something was off. We didn't hear many of the songs we wanted during the night and many of our guests told us he was at the bar. We still had a good time, it just wasn't what we were expecting.
