What a pleasure to work with Blase and the Soulmates. The first time I spoke to Blase on the phone, we instantly connected. We worked together up to the big day to create the perfect song list; Blase gave valuable input on our ideas, and ask the right questions so that he could create the pull in the perfect band members to meet our wishes and our budget. BoogieDown Blue played for our cocktail hour and through dinner. They set the perfect tone: inviting, relaxed, fun-loving, playful; our guests were up dancing to their favorite songs, and the kids really enjoyed dancing too. We are big fans of New Orleans brass bands, so we asked the band to play an upbeat brass band number to help us transition from our ceremony to continuing the party vibe; with tambourines in our hands, my wife and I were in the front of our little parade, with guests following us to the dance floor. For the finale, the band played a song (they learned specifically for us) that we had been practicing a dance routine to for four months time. It went so well, that the band seamlessly played the song again, while all our friends and family joined on the dance floor for another round. There is so much more to say, but these are some of the highlights. And most importantly for us, Blase was totally into the idea of friends and family jumping in at any time to sing, play an instrument, sing a song, or give a speech. We would most definitely ask BoogieDown to boogie with us again if we should have another epic party!

Blase is not only a phenomenal musician, but he brings a kind of intensity, presence and magic that is exactly what you want at the most important night of your life. There's a bunch of things I would have done differently about our wedding, but having Blase provide music is something I wouldn't change for the world.

Blase worked with us to pick out the perfect music for our wedding, and played and sang beautifully. I have seen him perform many times, and he has always been respectful, professional, and entertaining. He is comfortable with the crowd, funny, and charming. I highly recommend him for any live-music event.
