Magical, intimate wedding celebration

We traveled from Cleveland, Ohio to get married in beautiful Coeur d'Alene. Since we were not local, I hoped & prayed that the venue would be everything I dreamed of. To my surprise, the cherished little bed & breakfast located in the heart of downtown exceeded my expectations! The pictures online do not justify the character, charm, and hospitality that the Blackwell holds. Our wedding coordinator was so helpful, supportive & responsive during the process. The communication was great, which also eased my mind preparing for the big day! All of the staff was friendly & inviting. We were welcomed to tour the venue prior to the date and given the freedom (within reason) to personalize the ceremony. Our wedding was absolutely perfect and I will cherish these wonderful memories for the rest of my life!

We planned our wedding for a week! We wanted a simple but elegant wedding and Abby Torres of Blackwell hotel assured me that they can make it happen. All we did was show up and Abby and her staff took care of everything ! Perfect venue , ceremony, cake, champagne. Oh and she acted as on the spot wedding coordinator as well. U really can't beat that!

The Blackwell hotel was the most amazing venue for our wedding! They made every effort to make sure the wedding went smoothly and beautifully. Myself, parents and bridesmaids stayed at the Blackwell the whole weekend and it made the experience 100x's better.

In full disclosure, my now husband and I work in the wedding industry as caterers. So we have been to many venues all over the Spokane/ CDA area.

The Blackwell Hotel fit our needs to a "t"! My family and friends traveled from Southern California, so having the options of renting out the entire Bed & Breakfast (for Friday and Saturday night), as well as having a venue for our wedding was a HUGE selling point for us!

The hotel itself was beautiful! Imagine an old house, turned modern and chic. Let me start off by talking about the beds... Like sleeping on a cloud! Not how one would picture a "bed & breakfast" to be with old creaky beds, and questionable amenities! Oh no, this B&B was more than I could have imagined! Liz, the hotel manger, was so very accommodating! We loved that we had breakfast available for our family on both mornings. The over all experience was superb. So accommodating and an overall pleasant experience.

As a wedding venue, all was great as well. Abbey worked with us (i.e. mostly our wedding planner) to coordinate our needs. We had little to worry! Abbey, like Liz, was very professional and attentive!

Loved having our wedding in such a beautiful venue and working with such great professionals that helped make our day perfect!

Held my wedding and reception at the Blackwell and was beyond pleased! Very professional and the wedding coordinator made sure all details were correct and accounted for! Also very flexible with meeting your needs/taste (taking down decorations, changing lights, etc) only thing I was displeased with was the tear down of wedding decor after the wedding, very unorganized and not how we had brought them. Still a very beautiful and perfect place for my wedding!

Our son and daughter-in-law were married at the Blackwell Hotel. There was plenty of room for us (four parents) and the bridal party. Quiet too (a nice surprise). Renting out the entire place made for a memorable experience that I will always cherish. Worth it! Liz (the manager) was friendly, helpful and a fun person to be around. The wedding day ran smoothly thanks to Abby. One word of advice, if you book a summer wedding try to start the ceremony as late in the day as you can to avoid the heat. 5pm or later. Keep in mind, the music must end at 10pm. Also, if you're looking for a caterer, I highly recommend Satay. The Blackwell is a wonderful hotel in a beautiful town.

Failure to communicate

I had a terrible time getting assistance via email while planning, after my deposit to hold my date was paid. After picking up the phone, they finally mustered enough customer service to barely answer questions I asked, but could not seem to keep track of details or get information straight. On the day of the event, the manager/officiant was less than welcoming or helpful. We had an amazing day despite their lack of hospitality, and it is a beautiful spot.

Beware! If you cant rent the whole place, you'll be disregarded

0 stars. I rented a room here for night prior and wedding night. So we had a space to get ready on wedding day close to chapel that wasnt the resort. You're probably seeing a theme at this point but i love old buildings so this was an easy choice for me back before Christmas, 2024. Nearly a year before checkin. At that time i informed them of my intention to get ready for my wedding there and to spend my wedding night. 48 hours before check in i got an email informing me of another wedding taking place during my stay. Rehersal friday, wedding Saturday. I promptly responded asking to know what impact that would have on my reservation. They informed me of none. My MOH and i checked in on friday. We made friends over the pool table w the other bride and groom and their bridal party. Their MOH borrowed our corkskrew Saturday morning after my other 2 bridesmaids arrived. We were cool. It was really cold and rainy on Saturday. I was waiting for my step mom to arrive with my dad so she could zip me up and place my veil. Once that was done i was gonna walk down their stair well to my dad, get a picture with everyone on the porch and head to the chapel with my father in a wedding brigade that included 1 set of parents, 2 grandmas, 1 grandpa, 3 bridal party. Well. Before i could get my dress on, my ladies and photographer take turns running into my room informing me that i am not allowed to take a single photo on the entire premise and that all 'unregistered' guests have been asked to leave. I hurry, get zipped up, put my veil on crooked and make 2 calls to the phone number they used to contact me week prior to correct payment info. I left one message requesting a call back and borrowed my photographers calm while my SIL was getting yelled at to the point she had to protect herself from hotel event planner by putting her hands up, i was left at the hotel!! Thank god my photographer was able to bring me to my wedding. I never got a call back, and the drama that hotel staff caused while i was upstairs was literally the only thing anyone was talking about at my wedding. I got everyones side of the story while i was waiting for some sort of contact from someone, i finally called them 10/30. Left another message, but got a call back! They did not take any blame at all for the unprofessionalism, hostility (Not to be confused with HOSPITALITY, the industry they are in!) and sheer chaos they caused for me on my wedding day, without even including me! My 67 yr old father said my SIL started out sounding like a mouse begging the event staff to stop yelling at her. My dad thought i was going to have to jump out of the room window to get out of there because of how heated the situation became, he didnt know if they were going to let me walk down the stairs to leave! I was scared to come back after the wedding. I didnt leave anything in the room during wedding due to fear of retribution about a situation i wasnt involved with at all. We woke up after 3 hours of trying to sleep and left because i was so afraid of what could happen because i didnt know who to avoid who worked there. My husband would have let them know how he felt about them making me cry and stealing my first look with my dad and i had already heard about it (from EVERYONE) since we left the afternoon before! I guess every wedding has some drama, the blackwell staff caused ours. Maybe if an adult from the establishment i reserved could have communicated with me, things could have turned out different but they did not give me an opportunity.

Blackwell staff - i am sorry my grandparents and parents didnt wait on the porch in the rain but we werent going to be there for long, i wanted my dress zipped and my dad to take me to my wedding.
