Wanna be lovely? You already are! Be Lovely Photography specializes in the modern photographic experience, from engagement, to wedding, to the babies that may follow. We push ourselves creatively and enjoy working with couples that favor fresh, exciting, and bold photography. Yes, we do traditional family poses too (we know what the parents like!). From civil ceremonies (which we believe should be the same as weddings) to full mass Catholic weddings, we love meeting with and working with couples that appreciate our vision and allow us to "do what we do." Of course, your big day is a collaboration of sorts, a coming together of two worlds, a party for the masses. So we meet beforehand and make sure we are all on the same page for the event. We don't want our couples to arrive at their venue with an ounce of worry that every detailed won't be documented. We shoot thousands of images throughout the day, from make-up to gettin' down, we will be there, cameras in tow!
Be Lovely Photography is a small, independently-owned, woman-run business located in beautiful South Side St. Louis. We appreciate those that seek out companies that support the indies, especially those in the city. That being said, we love to travel! Be Lovely always employs an assistant that is capable of second shooting when needed.
JJ Lane is the owner and primare shooter, with over 9 years of photography experience and a degree from Webster University. She has worked with the Missouri Botanical Gardens, St. Louis Magazine At Home, and several other commercial, special event, and fine art photographers in the area. With a background involving detail photography and portraiture, Be Lovely emphasizes the importance of a beautiful, well-rounded wedding day. Each part of your wedding day contains bits and pieces of the larger story. We try and emphasize to each couple to spend plenty of time on each story, so the memory of that day will be beautifully documented forever.

JJ was with our wedding party a full day and had boundless energy and enthusiasm. She helped with the flow of the day, was organized & efficient, professional, friendly, supportive, and very creative. There are so many fun and artistic, romantic and charming shots. We are so happy with the photos and with the experience we had with JJ on this very special day.

What can I say about JJ? She was absolutely the best choice we could have made for our wedding photographer. She was professional but fun, and she has such an eye for cool architecture and unique shots. She really captured the excitement of the day and the uniqueness of our venue The Sheldon Concert Hall. I spoke to other photographers before deciding to go with Be Lovely Photography, and some who had shot at our venue before were hesitant to return because they said the lighting is very difficult. After looking at the 100+ photos in the preview JJ posted to Facebook of our wedding day, you would never know that there is tough lighting at the Sheldon because JJ and her second shooter Sara Wilson took such incredible shots. JJ’s assistant Christina was also very helpful and friendly and a wonderful addition to our day. We’re extremely grateful that we went with a pro like JJ to capture all the special moments of our big day. I could rave on forever about JJ, but just know that if you decide to go with Be Lovely Photography, you won’t be disappointed.

We chose JJ to take our engagement photos and wedding photos after a recommendation from a coworker who she had taken family photos for. After meeting with her, I knew that she would be the perfect fit for our day. JJ is fun and no-nonsense. She is great at making sure everyone is cooperating but is also super go with the flow and open to the vision you have for your day.

JJ shot our wedding with a second photographer, which helped get photos from different angles, but honestly, JJ is everywhere. I'm not sure we needed a second. JJ also always has an assistant with her, which helps make everything much quicker.
JJ and her assistant also ran a photo booth at our reception which was fun for us and our guests.
Did I mention that JJ was pregnant on our wedding day and still had more energy than I did?
We are extremely happy with our images and JJ's turn around time was SUPER quick. We were able to look at our extensive preview while on our honeymoon!
