History

The iconic Ball & Chain opened in 1935 initially as a saloon. It thrived as a hub of activity in the area until the late 1950s, after which it was purchased by Ray Miller and Henry Schechtman, among others. The two were felons, and got into some trouble with the law, giving extra meaning to the name Ball & Chain. The venue achieved notoriety in the 40s and 50s as a place where many performers used to entertain the masses. Over the years, it changed ownership and names until finally undergoing refurbishment in the early 2000s. Today, it is a one-of-a-kind premier bar and lounge, that still holds plenty of its magic from years gone by.
