Vivienne from Avenue 4 Design was great to work with. We came to the invitation process with basically nothing - no preconceived ideas, no clear picture in our head of what we wanted. With her guidance we narrowed down to some general formats/styles we liked, what mattered to us (eco-friendly, printing budget), and took some general conversation about things we like / don't like and came up with a perfect invitation package.
The end result: We did letterpress for the main card, but to keep prices down, the RSVP card and another insert we printed ourselves at home. In the eco theme we used no extra paper/envelopes and did postcards for responses. The best part - we are doing a wedding in the Sierras and wanted the invite to capture our love for the mountains but also have a hint of fun/casual to it. She somehow took my fiancé's comment that we dig robots and came up with a fun design with backpacking robots on a mountain and totally worked with us on coming up with some fun RSVP responses (i.e. Declined. Who are you people?) All in all it was perfect for us and something you would never find in an off-the-shelf wedding invite.
Full disclosure: I knew Vivienne before we asked her to do our invitations, but that doesn't alter how impressed or happy we were with the final product.
