If you’re going to be in the “wedding hall” business, you need divine, and dreamy, and space. The Eccles Alumni House is all that, and much more! It is a modern recently remodeled building and has 2 full huge functional clean, and beautiful kitchens, with easy access from the main hall…any caterer’s dream! The bathrooms are clean and steps away from the party, not down the hall and around the corner, where by the time you get there, you’ve peed in your pants.
Amy Harcourt, the manager, is professional with efficiency, flexibility, and very hands on with ideas, and suggestions, to help you get the desired results for your party. Amy was extremely easy, helpful, and pleasant to work with; and out-of -her-way accommodating!!! I would work with her again, and would recommend this place to anyone, as well as have another wedding there!!! Our experience with Amy Harcourt, and The Eccles Alumni House was 110%!!!

The space was beautiful. We used the upstairs ballroom and loved having the fireplace and piano in the common area. Amy was very helpful and kind in helping me figure out to how best use the space. The bride's room was also lovely. The downstairs room room with attached patio would also make a lovely place for a summer wedding. The parking was also fantastic for our guests. Lastly, their cancellation policy seemed more flexible to me than most, which was also very helpful.

VENUE:
The Alumni House was amazing and I'm so happy we used this venue for our wedding. I would highly recommend for couples who have a guest list of over 150 which was one of the main reasons we choose this venue. We utilized both their outdoor and indoor space. We used the back patio for the ceremony which provided a unique layout and walkway for the procession. For the reception we book the entire OC Tanner ballroom that allowed us to seat around 150-200 people with extra room. The ballroom is lined with floor-to-ceiling windows allowing for so much natural light that it felt like we were still outside. One other thing to note, with the exception of the rooms we did not rent out, our families were allowed to enjoy the entire venue to ourselves, which is something everyone appreciated.

The Alumni House is also well stocked with facilities to house large events. It has a catering kitchen included with elevators large enough to handle large amounts of equipment and/or groups of people. There are also bathrooms found both up & downstairs, each with a fair amount of stalls. There is also a small bridal room but I personally found it too small and ended up renting out an additional conference room for our wedding party. The Alumni House also provides parking for your event. I had about 200 people come through and everyone was able to fit into the parking lot without bleeding into the student parking where they would have had to pay.

Overall, compared to other venues we toured, the Alumni House was the best option. It provided us with both indoor and outdoor spaces, plenty of space for all our guests, and well stocked facilities to accommodate for large events such as weddings.


LOCATION:
One of my initial concerns with the venue was that it isin the middle of a college campus but after touring the Alumni House and visiting a couple more times before the wedding I realized that much of the view on the top floor is trees and hints of buildings here and there. We got married in August so trees were full bloom and covered up most the surrounding building. Additionally, the semester hadn't started yet which meant the campus was quiet and no cars or shuttles making disruptive noises.

STAFF:
The staff was also attentive to our needs and were fantastic. I worked with Amy who was very kind and professional. One of the things I really appreciated was how transparent Amy was about all the costs. She was very upfront about pricing and answered any questions I had about the venue. Anything regarding the venue went through her and she kept us well organized and prepped for our wedding day. In regards to day of the wedding, the staff was super responsive and made sure communication with us was a priority.

Alumni House was a great venue choice for our wedding. Amy was great to work with and she was flexible with our needs. We had a great experience. The venue was lovely and we got great views for our special day. Thanks Alumni House!

This venue is a lovely location in a very accessible part of downtown. There was tons of parking for guests, the building was clean, and the management was extremely flexible when helping us set up our wedding reception. The event was perfect, enough seating and standing areas for the 200+ people who attended our event. Definitely would recommend!

It is a beautiful Venue and everything was perfect! We had a band outside with tables as well as tables and a buffet inside, it was so beautiful! Highly recommend and the price is so reasonable! Guests will be talking about this wedding party for a long time!

We were so happy to find this venue! It was a hidden gem right in our back yard! Both of us met at the Univ of Utah and it meant a lot to be married on campus. It didn't hurt that the prices was VERY reasonable especially with an alumni discount, and they were able to provide tables, chairs, linens, lighting, sound system. The venue allowed us to have an outdoor ceremony and dancing, with indoor banquet meal. Rachel Van Tassell was extremely helpful and responsive and so nice! She worked with our requests and accomodated us even at the last minute.
We and our guests had a fantastic time and would highly recommend this venue.

Fort Douglas was so beautiful for our big day!! The scenery was phenomenal and everyone enjoyed it. Our ceremony was so beautiful :) The only thing is the area did not have enough power to run everything and it kept shorting out making our ice cream melt, bounce house fall and DJ system turn off every 30 mins or so. But other than that It was so great and everything I have ever dreamed of. :) Thanks Fort Douglas!!
