Alexandra Early has been performing in weddings and other events since 2001. She has been managing and performing event music since 2007 when she founded the Onyx String Quartet in Cleveland, OH. In the spring of 2012, Alex returned to her native Twin Cities to provide the highest quality music for events in her wonderful hometown.
Alex is an avid orchestral and chamber musician, and has performed in both disciplines across the United States and Europe. As an orchestral musician, Alex has performed in orchestras including the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, New World Symphony, Alabama Symphony, Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra, Cleveland Pops Orchestra, Charleston Symphony and Canton Symphony. She was also a member of the inaugural YouTube Symphony which performed at Carnegie Hall in 2009 as a result of a partnership among YouTube, Google and the London Symphony Orchestra. As a chamber musician, Alex has given performances in cities including New York, Cleveland, Miami and Saint Paul.
Alex has worked with many notable musicians including Michael Tilson Thomas, Osmo Vänskä, James Levine, Franz Welser-Möst, Kurt Masur, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Christian Tetzlaff, Gil Shaham and Itzhak Perlman. She has also received prestigious fellowships from the Tanglewood Music Center and the Aspen Music Festival.
In addition to her experience as a performer, Alex has appeared in interviews and/or performances on the BBC, NPR, PBS, Classical South Florida Public Radio, “Deco Drive” WSVN 7 News, and the North Oaks (MN) Scope.
Alex holds a masters degree and a professional studies certificate from the Cleveland Institute of Music. Her bachelor of music degree is from the Manhattan School of Music.
