Where do I even begin??! Alex is absolutely incredible. By far, the best decision I made during our wedding planning was hiring Alex to handle all of our music! Music is a hugely important thing in my life - I’m always the one at events that people turn to to “DJ” and play music, make a playlist, etc etc. So handing over the reigns to someone to be in charge of the music on MY wedding day was NO easy task. Alex was truly a no brainer for me. I wanted one person in charge of it all - the ceremony, the cocktail hour, and the reception. Alex exceeded all of our expectations. For the ceremony, I wanted to walk down the aisle to a popular song - but the piano version, no lyrics - I found a piano cover of the song on YouTube, and I sent it to Alex and was like “hey, can you learn this?” LOL - but not only did he learn it, he completely crushed it! It was perfection. Alex also played acoustic guitar at our cocktail hour - we let him pick the songs and do his thing, and we received SO many compliments on how great he sounded. Everyone loved it. Then Alex DJ’d our reception. BEST. DJ. EVERRRR. We put together a Spotify playlist of songs we wanted to hear during the night - I also told Alex what songs/artists we definitely did NOT want to hear - and he did fantastic! Literally the dance floor at our wedding was packed the ENTIRE night! My stepmom couldn’t even believe it - she said it was the most fun she has ever had at any event ever, and we had multiple people tell us that they have never been to a wedding where the dance floor was legit popping ALL night. The absolute highlight of my entire wedding was dancing so hard and belting “Mr. Brightside” on the dance floor with my closest friends and family - all of this thanks to Alex. If you want to feel confident that your music for your entire event will be in the absolute BEST (and extremely talented) hands, then look no further, and hire Alex immediately. His level of professionalism and musical talent is truly something to be admired. He is a Jack of all trades!

What can I say about Alex that hasn’t already been said by every single guest at our wedding? From the moment he started, he took control of the night and turned our reception into the ultimate party. He didn’t just play songs—he owned the vibe, read the crowd perfectly, and delivered an unforgettable experience that had everyone on their feet, dancing, and even chanting for “one more song” at the end of the night.

Our wedding was the perfect mix of love, joy, and celebration, and Alex made sure the energy stayed high all night long. He had a perfectly curated playlist and expertly mixed in requests from our guests. No matter what genre or style they wanted, he handled it like a pro. He even kept the transitions smooth and seamless, never missing a beat.

People couldn’t stop talking about how great the music was, and we received so many compliments on how the entire night felt so effortlessly fun. Our feet were sore from dancing, but we wouldn’t have had it any other way. Alex didn’t just DJ our wedding; he made it a celebration that people will be talking about for years to come.

Alexander Ruwe and The Red Jackets were absolutely amazing to work with. From the planning to the execution, everything we dreamed of was accomplished even better than we planned it. From asking for a lot of songs to be done live rather than recorded and having their services during the ceremony, cocktail hour, and our reception, we were so happy with our choice in choosing the Red Jackets. They are so interactive and just lovely people to be around. I enjoyed every minute of it and enjoy seeing them at local St. Louis offerings; it helps us hold on to a little bit of the fun from our wedding day! Alex and his crew absolutely blew us away on our wedding day! They were so open and easy to connect with in the days before, and then they made our wedding day run so smoothly. We had acoustic sets during the ceremony and cocktail hour and then the full band during our reception. Our guests could not stop talking about how much fun they had and how incredible the band was!! I wish I could get married again just so I could watch them perform again! The dance floor was PACKED the entire night!! Our wedding day would not have been the same without them!!!

Review from the Groom. Alexander was absolutely amazing. He’s incredibly personable. He played a guitar and sang out on the patio during happy hour. I sadly missed most of it due to talking to guests but I heard that it was amazing. He had the dance floor off and popping ALL NIGHT! I know this for a fact because you couldn’t pry me off the floor. His ability to read the room was immaculate. He played older songs when the boomers hit the floor and a ton of 2000s hip hop and r&b for the millennials (I’m 28). I got super drunk but didn’t get a hangover because Alexander played the right music to make me dance off any alcohol I had in my system. If you don’t hire Alexander I promise you are making a mistake. 1,000,000,000/10 recommend.

If 5 stars = "The best ever!", then that is certainly true of Alex! We were referred to Alex by a couple of our friends who had him play at their wedding. They couldn't speak more highly of him, and we now share that sentiment. Alex went above and beyond for us, every step of the way. He recorded multiple samples of music so we could choreograph our dance. He learned to play a song in different timing so we could waltz to it, and he and the crew learned many of the family favorites. He checked in with us multiple times before the wedding to see if there was anything he could do to help. So many of our guests commented on how great they were! We cannot recommend Alex and his crew more highly! If he is still available for your event date, book him quickly. And, if he is not available, I would recommend moving your date to fit Alex's availability. They are that good!

When our musician canceled on us with only a month to go before our big day — and after being booked for over a year — our hearts sank. Heading into what was being reported as the busiest wedding season in history, how would we ever find someone else not just to play our wedding, but to bring to life everything that music lends to the ambiance and feel of the day?

Enter Alexander Ruwe.

Passed along as a recommendation from another musician, we listened to every clip online we could find of him performing, and as a result, also discovered a young woman in a few of his videos whose effortlessly soulful voice gave us instant goosebumps.

The way their voices blended together, we could already hear them as we walked down the aisle. There was no question about it — they absolutely had to play it.

After reaching out to Alex directly, he promptly responded, and despite having a full schedule of gigs already, he hated to see a couple in a bind. Immediately, he agreed to play the wedding.
We then asked about the young woman, who we learned was Joanna Serenko. Alex told us he'd reach out and check, and in the meantime, we again scoured the Googles for any videos we could find of her. Color us surprised when all the results were clips from her recent run on The Voice. Surely someone with John Legend on speed dial had better things to do than play our event on a Friday. But we were surprised once again when she'd agreed to join Alex for the evening without so much as a single question or hesitation.

And just like that, what originally seemed as though it would be the hugest damper on our big day quickly became a blessing in disguise.

Alex and Joanna absolutely killed it, performing a fun yet heartfelt acoustic set as our guests arrived, as well as a couple special requests for our ceremony, and then another amazing set during our cocktail hour. Our guests have all continued to rave about their performance, but even outside of that, both Alex and Joanna were so genuinely happy for us and to be a part of our day that it really made it seem like we'd known them forever. They had even asked us to let them know if there was anything they could do to help that day aside from just playing.

We couldn't have asked for a better duo to play, and look forward to seeing them both at more gigs in the future.

Booking Alex and The Red Jackets was one of the best decisions we made throughout the planning process for our wedding. Each member of the band is incredibly talented, energetic, and genuinely kind. Every single guest at our wedding complimented the band. The dance floor was never not full. At this point we're just trying to find any excuse to book these guys again. Give them a call, seriously, you will not regret it.

We first met Alex at a wedding show in 2019. I knew from that moment I wanted him to play at our wedding! He was so nice and personable! We kept in touch and he was always quick to respond with any questions we had. Once we booked with Alex I was even more excited he was going to sing at our cocktail hour and DJ for the rest of the night. We had to postpone our May 2020 wedding to April 2021 and He was more than understanding and flexible to reschedule with us. Which was a huge relief! We had the best reception ever and could not be happier with how everything turned out. With Alex’s amazing skills we had people on the dance floor the whole night Our wedding guests are still complementing Alex and his talent to this day! He is truly the best and one of the most talented around, you would be silly not to book him for your next big event!
