Acquaint Gathering is a historic wedding venue in Grain Valley, Missouri. This venue is a beautifully restored chapel with modern touches and an ambiance that will help make your big day everything you dreamed it would be. The property is conveniently located close to Highway 40 and I-70, and provides stunning indoor and outdoor event spaces that will ensure you and your guests have a magical experience on the day of your celebration.

Facilities and Capacity

Ideal for most any wedding function, including bridal showers, engagement parties, rehearsal dinners, ceremonies, and receptions, Acquaint Gathering can host up to 150 guests. This historic chapel provides an indoor space with a gorgeous 50-foot mahogany ceiling and a five-foot crystal chandelier that adds a touch of grand elegance to your event. The space also includes stunning stained-glass windows that create beautiful backdrops for your ceremony or photographs. The chapel can be easily transformed into a reception space, and there is also a romantic outdoor space in the garden complete with a pergola that is covered in fairy lights and boasts spectacular ornate, antique windows. There is also a red 1957 Dodge near the gardens that affords spectacular photo opportunities. Acquaint Gathering also provides a large bridal suite with private baths that can accommodate your entire wedding party, including separate areas for both sides, so that you can relax and prepare before the festivities begin.

Services Offered

Acquaint Gathering provides ample parking and wheelchair access as well as set up and clean up on the day of your wedding. They also provide a dedicated event coordinator to ensure all the details pull together and everything runs smoothly. Their all-inclusive package includes full bar service with bartenders, barware, and linens, as well as options for open and cash bars. Outside alcohol is also permitted, as well as outside catering from your choice of licensed caterers. Memorable experience under extreme circumstances

I can't say enough about our experience with Acquaint Gatherings. It was so perfect and sentimental because it used to be our old church that had been perfectly refurnished into a beautiful Venue. However, the small best touches about any old church were kept intact. The owner was absolutely amazing and attentive. Laurie went above and beyond to rescue us in a time of need due to the cancellation of our original wedding plans that were effected by COVID-19. She met us multiple times and worked with us to help plan a very nontraditional small wedding in such a short amount of time. She was so helpful, sweet, and generous in so many ways. I am so glad our wedding plans were changed because I couldn't imagine our special day anywhere else.

This venue is amazing and Laurie is amazing! After contemplating for months on what type of wedding we wanted, I walked into this venue for a graduation party and just knew it would be the perfect place. We planned our wedding in just a few weeks. Laurie was beyond helpful! The venue is already decorated beautifully. She has so many decorations you can use for choose from for centerpieces. It was a wonderful experience. You can have any type of event here. We loved we could have our wedding and the reception in the same place. There are also areas outside for plenty of photo opportunities. I can’t say enough great things! Laurie, thank you! After stressing for months, I met you and knew it was all going to be fantastic! Thanks for making our day magical!

Acquaint Gathering truly lives up to it's name! This historic church was the perfect venue for my fairy tale themed wedding. Laurie is great to work with and does an amazing job decorating and assisting in every way. So pleased my mother found this adorable venue!

Katie and Clint were so professional, flexible and organized. The wedding day went so smooth, and I could not have been happier. The space inside and out is absolutely adorable and really captured the ambiance I wanted for the big day.

Cheryl, the owner of the venue, is just phenomenal! She saved me a ton of money on a planner and decorations by providing me with helpful tips and tricks as well as a large assortment of centerpieces to use for my wedding. Both Cheryl and myself had "emergency" situations come up the night before my wedding, but Cheryl still answered all of my phone calls and put my mind at ease with her promptness. If I could do it all over, I would make all of the same decisions.

Great Smaller venue

This was the perfect location for our smaller wedding and reception. We had about 60 people and it never felt crowded. Laurie provides decorations and works as the day of coordinator. She is amazing! We felt so relaxed on the wedding day as she took care of everything. She was very accommodating when we changed our date due to Covid. The venue is beautiful and a great value.

Unprofessional

The first meeting we had with Laurie she was late. I still moved forward with the tour. Trying to provide the benefit. After booking we paid a deposit and we paid the total cost well in advance. Due to COVID, we had to cancel my daughter’s graduation party. Her Senior year was devastating already. I had to constantly beg Laurie to refund our cost, after she initially suggested. Since April, I’ve been contacting her. She was extremely unprofessional and went off through a text message the other day. She then only refunded the cost and not the deposit. Which I see she refunded deposits to other customers due to COVID. I sent an email asking about my deposit and still have not received a response. I would not recommend this business ever.

The venue is beautiful, and all you could ask for at such an affordable price and it being "all inclusive" (tables, chairs, centerpieces.) Cheryl was extremely helpful during the planning process. Cheryl didn't arrive at the venue on our wedding day until 2:30, she went on a trip it wasn't going to be home until then. She said we had the venue until midnight which is what we paid our DJ for. I experienced the same issues as other commenters had mentioned, at about 9:00 she started cleaning off the tables and beginning what seemed at clean up process whilst we we all still enjoying our evening. My mother got a mop swept around her feet at 10:30, which is simply unacceptable. It was a Sunday wedding but I have a fun family and group of friends that were all still having a great time. She didn't inform us that we had to get everything out that night and so we were not prepared at the end of the evening to gather 3 days worth of stuff we brought it and get out it before she had an "event" the next night (on a Monday) I drove by the venue the next day and there was no event going on. She said she had a projector but it did not work and we were unable to play the video my mom worked hard on. Her husband was very rude, he stood in the back of the kitchen area looking annoyed awaiting us to leave so they could clean up. He didn't even acknowledge me as the bride or say congratulations, nothing! We felt very rushed out, this was all happening at about 10:45 an hour before our wedding was supposed to end. Our wedding was perfect and nothing can take away the night we enjoyed with our friends and family, but just be aware if you choose to have your wedding at this venue she will start the cleaning process with your guests there and start rushing you out when she feels the night is over.
