I would NOT recommend Texican Caterers to anyone. The stress they caused me, my husband, and my family, was not worth the low price. We had originally decided to go with them because they felt more "down to earth" and we didn't want a hugely formal wedding. At our final meeting, I was provided a hand-written contact that didn't include specifics, like the number of each item (ex: number of hot wings in total or per person). During this meeting with Matt Pena, myself and my husband, I went through the menu to get an idea of how many of each item would be available, to make sure there was enough food. I wrote down every number, but I guess Mr. Pena did not. At the wedding, we thankfully didn't have as many people show up to the reception as we initially thought, which was a good thing since we ran out of food!! We had stated we would be having about 200-225 people at the reception, and it was more like 150-175. Mrs. Pena, whom we had never met, was at our reception that day; her husband was nowhere to be found. She (and later Mr. Pena) claim that there was never a guaranteed number of items, and we had run of out of food because people had gone back for seconds! Even when myself and my husband went through the line, I was given ONE item, and had to ask twice to be given a second of some. Later on, we noticed that ALL of the wait staff was eating OUR food. One of the beer kegs had gone bad, but they did offer to refund us 1/2 of that cost..... Texican Caterers was also responsible for our wedding cheesecakes, as we didn't want traditional cake. I had been very specific in what flavors, and how many of each. We were also assured they would be homemade, not store bought (which would have been fine if we had been told). Needless to say, when we showed up to the reception, the flavors put out on the cake table included ones I had never heard of. After the food disaster, my family very carefully kept a close eye on the cheesecakes. At the reception, our guests only went through about half of the 30 cheesecakes we had ordered, but somehow, had only come home with 5 "extras". Also, unopened bottles of wine were missing as well...... My husband and I didn't leave for our honeymoon for a few days, and I tried to contact Mr. Pena regarding the entire disaster. Upon questioning him, he claimed again that there was never a guaranteed number and hung up on me. I called him back again, and he again hung up on me...... Again, I re-state - I would NEVER recommend this company to ANYONE hoping for a stress-free wedding!
Amy and Ben Watson from the Red Room Studios provided perfect photos from our wedding. They were professional, flexible, and dedicated to finding out what was important to my husband and I regarding the photography. They provided a perfect mix of formal and candid shots. All of our family and friends loved the photos, and thought we had paid thousands for their service. I would highly recommend to anyone!!
I decided to use A Creation For You florist after winning a gift certificate in a silent auction. She had worked extensively with the Church were going to marry into, so she was very familiar with what it needed (and what it didn't). After I told her my original vision, I found it was a little too expensive for what I wanted to spend. She worked with me to cut the costs, including such creative ways of adding new (and cheaper) flowers into my decor, as well as offering to provide me buckets of single stem flowers for us to cut ourselves and put into vases for the reception (we had vintage glass vases of all shapes and sizes, so this helped me save on transport and set up!). She also let me provide my own tulle for the pews (since I could find it cheaper elsewhere), and was very patient when I provided detailed pictures of what I wanted. I also wanted a picture of my deceased father to hang like a bouquet charm, which I provided to her, and she had no issues with doing this. The morning of my wedding, we went by to pick up the flowers for the reception, and she let me see one of the bouquets. I let her know that while it was pretty, I wanted them to be filled in a bit more. Again, she was very patient, and when I saw the bouquets right before I walked down the aisle, they were gorgeous and perfect!!!!! Everyone loved them, and the all red bouquets popped against my white dress and my bridesmaids' black dresses. The charm of my father I provided her was so well received, and tastefully displayed, that my sisters have already asked to have it passed down to them when they get married. I would highly recommended Robin and her team to anyone needing flowers!
This was the first and only store I went to for my wedding dress. On my first visit, I had an appt with a very nice and patient saleswoman who was obviously overbooked with bride appt's, but my friends were there to pick up the slack. I picked one dress, that looked way more expensive than it was (and I'm not even talking about the sale that was going on - which sealed the deal for me!). After ordering, I was told it would take 3 months to get my dress in. After 1 month, I was told my dress came in. I was nervous considering it seemed to be too early. When I went in to get it, the manager was at the desk asking me how I wanted to pay. I told her I needed to try it on first, see it before I paid the balance. Good thing I did, since the beading and strings were completely messed up!!!!!! It was so bad, I couldn't even try it on. I called the manager in and showed her the dress, telling her I wouldn't take this one. She profusely apologized, and said she would re-order it. They called again at my original 3 month mark that my dress was in. I went in, tried it on (again with no help but from my friend), it was beautiful, I paid for it, went home. The original saleslady had already given me the name of a nearby tailor to bustle and steam my dress, so I didn't have to worry about it with Alfred Angelo. However, about 1-2 months later, I got another call saying my wedding dress was in. I told them I had picked it up already..... I don't know if it's the company or just this store, but it doesn't seem to be the most organized. I happened to get a great (but overbooked) saleslady, who unfortunately is no longer there. AA has beautiful dresses, but be willing to deal with so-so service for the discounted price.
Wendy and Ferdy really did an amazing job. Ferdy had an awesome mix of music and lighting for our reception (even though I had given an extensive list of songs NOT to play!). And I am so glad that Wendy was there, because I actually got to ENJOY my reception. I didn't have a wedding coordinator, and she made sure we were on schedule. Even when we were having problems with our caterer, Wendy would ask if we should do _____ now or later, and when I said later so we could figure out what to do about the food, she said ok and filled in some time. It was perfect! Our family and friends loved them, and I will recommend them to ANYONE looking for professional, but fun, DJ services!!
