We are writing in response to the review from "Red". As can be seen from the other reviews of both The Canal and Jewel Catering there is a significant difference between her experience and the experience of other guests. Less than 1% of our clients raise substantial concerns regarding either the venue, food or service provided by Jewel Hospitality and Jewel Catering. In fact, the review for the wedding reception held on July 4th during the daytime hours prior to “Red’s” wedding, is worth reading for balance. They were extremely pleased.
We have reviewed all of the documentation relating to the event and unfortunately "Red" is either wrong or is relaying only half the story. We would like to set the record straight. We have over 45 years of collective experience in the catering business and our experience is that few, if any, caterers provide the kind of information she requested. As she was working for another caterer at the time (we understand that she is no longer in the catering business) we believed that what she was asking for was not appropriate. "Red" neglected to mention 55% of the menu when she listed the menu items. She neglected to include items such as Pulled Pork Sliders, Jerk Salmon Skewers, Four Cheese Quesadillas, Maduros Sweet Plantains and individual Cuban Sandwiches. Contemporaneous notes from the event indicate that there was plenty of food that was thoroughly enjoyed by all the guests.
There was never a threat to sue anyone on our part. The only threat was the groom's implying that if we didn't provide the requested information he would "escalate the conflict". We merely pointed out that they had signed a contract and what was being asked for was not part of the contract. We would also note that their request occurred in early March relating to a July wedding. All correspondence between March and the wedding was not only cordial but "Red" brought us a cake to show her appreciation of our services, shortly after our response in March.
We regret that "Red" felt it necessary to post such a review. We believe that a more thorough review of all comments relating to Jewel Hospitality, Jewel Catering and our venues will give a more balanced view of our services and food. While we are not perfect, we have a long history of customer satisfaction with the standards we uphold. We strive to create happy memorable occasions and we are proud of our outstanding reputation in the hospitality industry.
