Having our wedding at the Blackwell was the best decision we could have made. I truly can't express how wonderful everyone, especially our wedding coordinator, Blaire Blechinger, was to work with. Every single detail was exactly how we wanted and how the Blackwell promised it would be. Every Blackwell employee was kind, responsive, professional, and an overall delight to work with. The ceremony and reception went perfectly, without a single mistake, and our wedding day was the best day of our lives. The planning period was particularly stressful for us because of non-wedding personal commitments, and Blaire was there to do whatever we couldn't. It was a dream wedding.
Fresh was excellent. Brad was our sales person, and I really had no idea what kind of flowers I wanted when we met with him. I told him our wedding colors and that I did not want cala lillies, but otherwise gave him no direction. The flowers turned out amazing! Also, my bouquet dried beautifully and we now have it displayed in our house. A great choice and reasonably priced.
I was very disappointed with the alterations, specifically the bustle, done by Pat. My wedding gown fit me almost perfectly before alterations, and I simply needed the chest taken in slightly. This turned out fine, but again, it was incredibly simple and almost unnecessary. However, the bustle was another story. She charged an outrageous price to do a French bustle. I was taking the Ohio Bar Exam on the day the dress was to be picked up from Pat, so naturally my mom picked it up as I could not be there. My mom asked Pat to show her exactly how the bustle attached, and Pat told her not to worry about it, that it was so easy to do, and basically refused to take the five minutes to show her. On my wedding day we never actually did get the bustle attached the way it was supposed to, despite about 10 people trying to do it.
This was literally the one and only problem we had on my entire wedding day, so it certainly didn't ruin the day, but it was frustrating and I feel that we wasted our money using Pat's services.
We were really pleased with our invitations from My Gatsby. The website is easy to use, they have good customer service staff, and the invitations were exactly how I expected them to be. Also, the price was very reasonable.
WONDERFUL! Darla, Your Day Done Your Way's Reverend, truly has a gift for creating beautiful, unique, and personal ceremonies. During our wedding planning process I was finishing and graduating from law school, studying for and taking the bar exam, dealing with an identity theft nightmare, and planning the wedding, so needless to say I didn't have a lot of extra time. Darla was awesome, all we did was fill out her forms and send her our vows and she wrote the most beautiful ceremony. I couldn't have handpicked each word better. She even picked our reading for us because I had so little time and again, it was perfect. She is the best. I cannot say enough good things. Our guests still comment on what a beautiful and unique ceremony we had. My mom, who is a devout catholic and admittedly was not excited we weren't having a church wedding, absolutely raved about the ceremony and even said that she felt it was better than any catholic ceremony we could have had. Thank you, Darla!
