I had a wonderful experience with my reception at Westlake Club! Jennifer Keefe is always extremely responsive and accommodating. Our guests raved about the food and the beautiful, intimate venue... one guest even referred her daughter to Jen, and she is getting married at Westlake next spring. Jen absolutely bent over backwards to make sure that everything went the way we had planned, and all the waitstaff were very professional and timely. Westlake was even kind enough to pack us a little goody bag to take to our hotel after the reception - snacks and a bottle of champagne. And all this was MUCH less than any other country OR city club I could find in the Houston area. I can't thank Westlake enough for making our wedding reception so much more than I'd hoped!
PS - My husband and I went back to Westlake a few months after our wedding to attend their all-you-can-eat Lobster Night [which was the BEST lobster we've ever had, by the way]. Our server actually still remembered us, even though he'd only met us once throughout the entire planning process. That's great service!!
James Tongol was a little bit of a splurge for us, since he was pricier than we had first budgeted for... however, we are now so glad that we decided to spend the extra money. His work was so beautiful and artistic, and he is a MASTER at capturing all those little moments that would have otherwise flown by unnoticed. And his staff is so unobtrusive, it's easy to forget that they're even there. We highly recommend James and his team - they are truly artists.
We had originally planned to go REALLY cheap with flowers [like find a Chinatown florist or something], but Keisha's beautiful photographs of her past work and her wonderful personality won us over. I really enjoyed working with her as we planned my flowers.... unfortunately, the flowers I saw on my wedding morning were NOT what I was expecting!
My bouquet was flawless, but much smaller than I'd expected... my bridesmaids' bouquets were even smaller and kept shedding greenery. Our mothers put on their wrist corsages for pictures an hour before the ceremony, and BOTH of them had disintegrated by the time they had to walk down the aisle... so they went through the whole wedding with NO flowers at all. My altar flowers were droopy, wilted, and all fell apart when we tried to pick them up to move them to our reception locale.
I am very disappointed and feel that I grossly overpaid. There's no question that Keisha is a sweet person, a wonderful artist [when she chooses to be], and uses only quality flowers. I just don't know why my wedding wasn't given the respect and attention that her other clients clearly received.
Best prices and biggest selection that you can find in the Houston area! I came in with no idea what I wanted. My consultant walked aroud the store with me, trying to to get ideas of what I liked and didn't like. When she came up with a recommendation based on my body type and preferences, I instantly fell in love with that dress and bought it on the spot. They offered me a small discount, free storage and 2 free pressings. I enjoyed working with this salon and would recommend them to anyone!!
Gary Michael Dahl and his band are phenomenal musicians, and we booked them at a bargain! They were extremely professional, responsive, and easy to work with, and they have a wide range of songs they can play - they were great with taking requests.
I have only one complaint about my experience with them, but to me it was a big one. My father had told them that he wanted "Butterfly Kisses" played for our father-daughter song. We have no idea why, but they chose instead to play "Crazy Love" by Brian McKnight!!!! I was very disappointed about this, since I knew that the dance was the highlight of the night for my father. It's been a few months, and I still cringe thinking about this screw-up.
