Beautiful church, would highly recommend to anyone who wants to be married in a catholic church.

The Potomac Room was beautiful, the buffet was beautiful, and the tables were set up wonderfully. The only downside was that one hour before we had to leave (we were to end at 8pm), the told us it was time to wrap it up because they had to clean up so at 7pm we had to stop the reception right when we were just getting started! So basically, we paid the extra hour for them to clean up the place instead of us using the room so that was a downside. The food was delicious and the carving stations were great. The extra hour though they talked us into (instead of the regular 3 hours) was actually a paid clean up time so that was quite dishonest of them and we will not be using them for further large events if we need to.

The cake was different from the one we had tried at tasting due to the fact that we did not taste any fruit filling in the wedding cake as was expressedly asked for when we contracted the Hollin Hall Pastry Shop. The cake was beautiful and we did receive alot of compliments, however, it would have been great to have had more fruit in the cake as was asked.

We have placed a low review of the DJ because of all the hidden "surprises" we encountered at our wedding reception. We had paid for and had an arranged contract for almost a year for a bilingual DJ however, on our wedding day he and another DJ showed up. We were never forwarned that the other DJ would be there and we did not like this DJ's style because we had seen her at a showcase and did not like her brazen style. We decided to "go with the flow" however when it came time for the bouquet/garter toss time her brazen style came out. She and our DJ had the garter toss man do a "sexy dance" to the bouquet toss lady and we were not alright with this. They had not consulted us before it happened and I had told our DJ that our families were very conservative. They did not pay warning to this and our families were embarrassed. Just a word of warning in case you want to communicate with this company, they may not listen to how you want YOUR wedding to be. We wanted a nice conservative fun wedding reception, but it turned rauchy very quick unfortunately and we weren't even consulted.

We had a few glitches for the rehearsal and the wedding day that could have easily been avoided with communication but overall, I would gladly recommend Calla Carver's wedding planning services to any bride. She is so organized and a great spunk of energy to keep things running smoothly. She is also very cool under pressure and very easy to work with. Thank you for your service.
