When to send invitations for a NYE wedding? RSVP deadline?

Laura, on July 27, 2014 at 9:10 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4

When is a good time to send the formal invitation for the wedding for a New Years Eve wedding? We sent out Save the Dates very early on (like March) since it is a holiday, but I am unsure of when is the right time to send invites?

I'd like to have as close of a RSVP count as possible by Thanksgiving, but I am not sure if that is realistic? Would that be asking too much?

*Most* people have to travel, so I figure they will know by then... Thoughts?

Since it's a holiday wedding during peak travel times, I'd send your invites out in mid-late October with a thanksgiving RSVP date.

My wedding is a few weeks before yours, and since at least half of our guests are traveling (4 hrs drive for some, 3 hr flight for others) I'm sending mine in September with an Oct 31 RSVP date. So 6 weeks before. Its a bit early but everyone has known about our wedding date since last year, so it really shouldn't be a shock

Thank you both! Yes, everyone has known the date since February, so it shouldn't be that difficult to make a decision at this point. t think I'm going to send them out the 2nd week of October, and make the RSVP date the week before Thanksgiving... The deadline to reserve a hotel room on our wedding block is the last day of November, so I figure it will work out.

I'm a NYE wedding too!!! I did it nontraditionally and sent out STD's and invites together at the same time back in May. We are only having 100 guests (56 households) and it's mostly people we see all the time or someone in our family seek often so I didn't even set an RSVP date (I'll probably regret that later). We have a good idea who is coming already, but I'll reach out to everyone I haven't heard an exact confirmation from a month out.

I think sending invites out in October should be good. I'd personally place the RSVP date right before Thanksgiving since people can get wrapped up in the holidays and forget to submit RSVPs. Plus this gives you a week to track down anyone who didn't RSVP.
