So I have looked all over the place at different venues. Most venues charge a facility fee of between 6,000-18,000. That price does not include tables, chairs, linens, chair covers, catering, cake or anything.

On top of the facility fee, most of the venues required you used them for catering. That is where they really get you. Most places were between $150-100 per person not including alcoholic beverages. Then they have a food and beverage minimum of 10,000 or so. This all totals at the least $16,000 for food and use of the venue.

After a lot of searching I found a venue that includes tables, chairs, set up and clean up and some decor for only $3,000. I was so excited that I found this place, yet my family still seems to think that this is outrageous. I don't know how to please them and don't feel like I will find any better of a deal. Is this price really that bad? Is it just me, or are they crazy??

We are having a fairly small wedding about 100 people - and I was excited to find a 4 star hotel in the area that will provide meal, placement of favors, tablecoths, chair covers, space for ceremony for about $2400 with all the fees included.

And I am extremely satisfied w/ the venue as a whole. As long as you are happy w/ the venue and what they offer - does it matter what anyone else thinks???

---I can't believe how pricey those venues are but then again I am a real live cheapskate---

If anyone is $contributing$, just ask them if they are contributing to the VENUE OR CATERER OR FAVORS. But the ultimate decision should be yours. I don't think its fair for people to tell you how your dream day should be regardless of if they are contributing or not.

COME ON BRIDES - LET'S TAKE OUR WEDDINGS BACK!!!

Kayla, I realize you started this post back in 2011, but if you haven't found a venue yet, I suggest looking at Centurion Palace in League City. It's quite pretty and inexpensive.

Did you get married in Texas? If so where? I am trying to find a location that’s within our budget and I have a place in mind but it’s a little over our budget

UM go with that venue!!!!! I can’t even get into what my venue charged just to use the space. At least they helped us when their caterers were outrageously up charging for our date. Not having to deal with or pay for rentals is also amazing. Sounds like you hit the jackpot!!

Well we wanted a New Year’s Eve wedding, so it was definitely upcharged to rent the space. However, their average pricing for the winter was still $5k just to rent the property (also includes tables and chairs.) but no coordinator even though their staff will be onsite. For us, it was almost double that. But, they helped us find a caterer not wanting to upcharge for the date so it will even out. We were looking at barn style venues in Lancaster, PA ( Amish country) and it was still $5-7k to rent those in the summer peak season. Not all included tables and chairs or even bathrooms. Anything in the city of Philadelphia relies on one caterer and most run easily $120 pp and up, minimum. My friend looked to get married in January next year in the city and it was $200 a person with a minimum bill you had to guarantee. She was looking at $25k IN TAX. So they scrapped that.

oing out in the farm country was way more my style (I work to preserve open space as a hobby) and it was way more affordable. But it was still the prices I mentioned above.
