Wedding Favor? Is this To Tacky?

Alyssa, on August 30, 2011 at 2:44 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 30

Hey ladies... I wanted to get practical wedding favors, and my fiancee and I are both into camping and the odd beer with are adventures. We are having a summer wedding and discussed having personalized beer koozies as our party favors... I am afraid this may be a bit tacky... but on the other hand our wedding is in a church, and the reception is and a fairly ritzy convention center. so its a toss up if this will be practically and casual, or tacky and redneck.... thoughts????

I think i depends...I've seen some on WW blog and other blogs where they actually look cool with what they're doing. And in some cases, you can 'dress' the koozies up.

WELL it is your wedding and ultimately it's up to you. But since you asked, I think it's a little on the tacky side, just because I associate beer koozies with certain people that I know who do not have much class... lol! Others may feel differently but *personally* I just don't like beer koozies. lol

EDIT: The ones that Cydney posted are cute, though Smiley smile

I think if you were doing your reception as a BBQ, picnic or at a community center it would be ok, especially if people would be holding cans of beer and/or soda. But since it's not immediately useful it seems a little downscale for your location.

For the kind of wedding/reception you are saying you are having the koozies are very tacky. Maybe for the bridal shower or Bach Party the ones Cydney posted would be very cute!

@Pumpkin's Sunshine-- yes, that is a much better way to say it-- "downscale for the location." You're absolutely right, if it was outdoors or a BBQ, it would seem a lot more fitting.

I think you would probably be better off getting edible favors or something else that is practical and likely to be used rather than a koozie. As others have suggested, koozies don't seem like they would match up with the style of your wedding and location.

Keep in mind these are bottle koozies, and we are also from a small town, and farm kids lol so the venue is nice but it is a small town venue lol so ritzy maybe is not the best word to describe it.

I think it depends on your guests - are they fun loving people who enjoy drinking? If so, go for it! Maybe you can even get the old fashioned bottles of coke or something to put in them to remind people they don't HAVE to be used to alcohol. But also consider having something else for people who aren't 21 yet. Smiley smile

We went to a wedding that had the personalized koozies as favors. It was a country themed wedding, in a rustic lodge type setting. It was appropriate for the kegger type party they had for their wedding.

However, it seems out of place for the type of wedding you are having.

Does it fit your theme or decor? Would the koozies make sense or would they stick out as just some random item? If they fit in then go for it, but if they don't then I guarantee you could likely spend the same or less and choose something more fitting a wedding. I know plenty of favor companies offer these so they must be a popular option, so even if they are "tacky" which I'm not saying they are they are common....wouldn't it be better to choose something uncommon?

Maybe instead of giving these out as favors at your wedding, you could give these out as gifts at your rehearsal dinner or you could include them in welcome bags for your out of town guests.

It seems out of place for the style of wedding you're having, but I really do love the idea!!! Now THAT'S something I would use again! Smiley smile

But, sadly, I agree that if it's not immediately useful, it probably will look tacky Smiley sad

I don't understand how it would not be imediately useful? there will be hundreds of ppl buying beer from the bar (which is in bottles) so the plan was for the bartenders to hand them out with the beer, then have two baskets full of them beside the bar for whomever wants to take one.

I have a crap load of those things....I never use them. They are cute though.

I don't think it's tacky, but I think they are just out of place.

    Good luckSmiley smile

Usually beer is poured into a glass, not served in the bottle/can - but you might want to check that with your venue?

Small town venue.... so we have to provide the booze and bartenders ourselves... hence why the beer will be in bottles
