Just for fun: what is the most memorable , fun, or different thing you've ever seen at a wedding? Or what is something you're planning that you hope makes a mark on your guests?

Aside from bad things happening, only one wedding stands out. It was super fancy and they had a great dinner including a GIANT antipasto buffet. A guest was dressed up as Elvis (I guess he's an impersonator) and sang a song at the reception. Louie Anderson and F. Lee Bailey (OJ/Patty Hearst/Boston Strangler/Sam Shepard (inspired the Fugitive) lawyer) were guests. Mainly I was blown away how beautiful everything was. This was DH's cousin's wedding in L.A., so I was nervous that his family wouldn't like our more modest wedding (they were fine).

When our friends got married they made 1000 cranes through the course of the engagement as some kind of tradition in her culture and we saw their progress through fb updates. Then we got to the wedding and they were hung up allover the place. It was pretty incredible.

I think what is most memorable are the things that CAN'T be planned. It's the drunk-happy look on the bride and groom's faces all night. Old friends reuniting for the first time in years. The groom's aunt and the bride's grandmother dancing with the two single groomsmen. Those are the things I really remember.

I was a bridesmaid in a wedding on Friday and the most memorable moment for me was the bride and groom singing each other their first dance song to each other while they were dancing (the guests couldn't hear them - it was more like an intimate moment for them in the middle of a crowded room). So sweet, but I don't think it was planned at all -- and this bride was super detail oriented.

Other than that -- I went to a wedding with a pasta bar once - YUM lol.

I agree, nothing is jumping out at me. One had awesome food, one had a fantastic band.... thats about it.

Even when I worked catering I didn't see anything super memorable.

The most unique wedding I've been to was for one of my best friends. It was at the local zoo. During cocktail hour everyone got to walk around the zoo and see the animals. It was actually the most fun wedding I've ever been to!

Bride disappeared after cake cutting. Came back in a new gown and performed (sang with her sisters) for her husband. Here's a video:

I was at a wedding once with a bratty child running around not listening to mom and dad and went to sneak under a table while running from a friend and got knocked out... In the middle of all the dancing the room

Had to get cleared and the paramedics carried him out on a stretcher....

Ummm other than that... Nothing I've seen.

A few years ago we went to a wedding that had the most amazing dessert bar after dinner. It was all so delicious! It made the $20 parking fee worth it (it was at the Ritz Carlton in SF).

We went to a friends wedding that served pizza, wings, toasted ravioli (a St. Louis thing) and salad for dinner. It was the best wedding food I've ever had! We are actually tossing around the idea ourselves. We hate traditional wedding food and this is the wedding that always comes up when we talk about great weddings! They also had glow sticks and glow glasses to wear on the dance floor. It was a great night!

I haven't been to many weddings but good friends of my FH got married a few years ago. They're both musicians and they sang a duet to each other before saying their vows. The bride was crying so much during his verse and he teared up during hers. Knowing everything they've been through to be together it was so moving and they picked the perfect song. I definitely cried and I still remember that moment.

Memorable weddings that stand out -

    1. Belly Dancing 2. Live Band 3. SouthPaw (Mascot of the White Sox) 4. Garter Toss where they faked out the groom and put his uncle in the place of the bride

Later in the evening, when dance floor was open to all, the bride danced with her Mother to a song that the Mother used to sing to her daughter. It was one of the muppet songs that was so sweet. Everyone was dancing all around them while they hugged each other. I was the videographer in the background with tears running down my face while I captured it!

I went to a wedding where the reception centerpieces were different desserts. I sat at the red velvet cupcake table Smiley smile It was all delicious but I definitely had a sugar crash later.

Another wedding had pretty much any food you could possibly think of wanting, and they had a singer perform who had been on American Idol (I don't watch or I'd know who he was).

Truthfully all the weddings I have been too (8) the ones that were small and personal I had the most fun at. Those are the ones I remember. Great food, enjoying people's company as were all around the table laughing and exchanging conversations. More about love and friendship then showmanship. The large ones I just remember counting down the minutes. Couldn't relax and enjoy the couple and the surroundings.

I surprised everybody, including husband, with a Chinese Lion Dance group. My husband is of Chinese descent. It was familiar to his family but they were very excited to see at a wedding. The rest of the guests were super excited about it and most had never seen one.
