Small wedding big venue

Nicole, on August 29, 2015 at 1:11 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 2

Hello I invited 140 people

To my wedding but a lot of people are out of state so I'm expected to have only 75 people there. The venue is a decent size venue I had to pay for a min of 100 people and I'm scared it's going to look really small in the room ! Anyone ever had this problem ?

Honestly, with most rooms that say they fit X number of people, they actually fit that number of people only if everyone is crushed in like sardines. Having fewer guests allows you to move the tables farther apart, have fewer people per table, have a bigger dance floor, have more room for the band or DJ to spread out, have space for a photobooth (real or just an iPad and some funny props), etc.

We had about 60 people at our wedding. The venue would theoretically have held a couple hundred. But it never looked as though we were rattling around in there.

I had the opposite problem. I really wanted a small wedding but most venues had a minimum of 100-125 people. After searching for a long time, and deciding to increase our guest count by 25, we found a venue. Luckily, there was no minimum. Our reception will be for 65 people. The room is for about 300. I decided to make the tables for 8 instead of 10 people. I have a combination of square and circle tables. With the bar and sweet table, as well as a charging table, all these small changes will make the room look full.
