NWR - Cute ways to tell our parents?

HisWifey, on August 27, 2014 at 11:44 AM Posted in Married Life 0 22

I got what appears to be a positive on a preg test. Dont know for sure yet, but its got me thinking, if i am prego, how am i going to reveal the news to my parents, and my inlaws?

I already know with my husband, if he isnt there when i find out, im going to order a pizza and get a second box, in the second box im going to write "I'm Pregnant" on the lid and put a onesie and the pee stick inside it, then put it on top of the real pizza box so he will open it first. My man cant resist pizza.

It wouldnt work on my parents though, so any ideas?

When we found I was pregnant, we just told our parents over the phone after the 12 week scan

What about getting them Worlds Best Grandma/Grandpa shirts and having them open them...I know the shirts are cheesy, but I'm sure they would get a kick out of it. Go to the doctor and get the pregnancy confirmed (I saw your earlier post) before you go getting everyone excited.

    And congratulations!

I wont tell anyone else until i have the positive proof. They're already grandparents though, my parents have 2 grandbabies and my inlaws have 4 grandbabies, so i dont think they'd make the connection with the shirts

After the appropriate wait time, my SIL gave us all children's books and on the inside wrote "Aunt Nicole, please read this to me when I am born. Love Baby _________" It worked because even though I am already an aunt, signing the baby's name let me know she wasn't referring to my other brother's baby.

We bought them a picture frame that says "I've loved you from the very start" and put an ultrasound picture in it. For my FH I got him a copy of "what to expect" and a cookie bouquet

Is this their 1st grandchild? Do you already have any kids? I seen a shirt on a kid that said "only child expiring (due date) and I thought it was SO cute! Or even if you have a dog. Future big bro/sis, taking a pic and giving it to them. I also seen a bow around a woman's belly with a sign that said don't open until (due date).

I baked cupcakes and dyed the batter blue. then icinged them white with pink and blue sprinkles and question marks =)

Just realized that was the gender reveal not the announcement. hahahahaha oops.

I've seen a picture eating spaghetti with "Prego" sauce sitting in front saying we are prego! I like the creative picture ideas =)

I would get them a card that says "Grandma" and put a picture of the ultrasound in it. Or give them a gift of a framed ultrasound photo.

For my FH I plan to just buy a carseat and set it up in the back of his vehicle and wait for him to notice.

I also like the picture of your oven with a bun sitting in it idea.

I like the Grandma/Grandpa shirt idea, or even incorporate your pets. My cousin had the dogs wear cute little chalkboard signs that said, "I'm going to be a big brother/sister." It was cute.

Yikes I don't know about putting the pee stick anywhere near the food. O_o Maybe that is just me, that is totally weird.

I hope you find out through the doctor soon, mostly because you don't want to get your hopes up about being pregnant from the cheapie tests you bought and then find out later you aren't. Good luck!

I think I'd just get our parents a gift that said something about them being a grandma or grandpa.

Miss P, im not putting the pee stick in the real pizza box, im putting it on top of a onesie inside an empty box that will sit on top of the closed real pizza box. If i set them side by side, he would probably end up opening the real one and not even pay attention to the other. If i set it on top of the real one, he will open it first. Plus those pee sticks are capped, its not like it would drip or anything. And i am definitely going to get at the very least a digital positive before i tell anybody.

A coworker just showed me a picture yesterday that his daughter put on Facebook.

It was a picture of her dog next to a sign, "I'm getting a human!" with the due date.

I agree on not putting the pee stick anywhere near the food. doesn't matter if it's totally sanitary, it would still weird me out. Can you just leave that out and show it to him once you do the reveal? I've watched a number of videos of wives surprising husbands and they always say "how do you know?" Duhh, pee stick. Here. So the proof is necessary it seems, but I don't think you need to put it into the box. Just my two cents.

As for your parents. I have no idea. I'm not that close to thinking about kids so I have no clue and haven't put more than two seconds thought into it. Sorry I'm no help.

I started doing random interesting facts, one per day at dinner, it usually sparks convo or he shares random stuff etc. but my idea is that one day, hopefully sooner than later, the fun fact will be, you're going to be a daddy.

My sister gave us an envelope with a picture in it saying it was updated pictures of her dogs, which she has never done, and the picture was with baby shoes and a sign between the dogs saying we are going to be big sisters. It was cute.

Parents, maybe get them onesies that say, "My grandma loves me" or something like that. I really like the idea of getting them framed ultrasound photos if they won't be pissed you waited 12 weeks to tell them. For your hubby, I think you should just tell him. Sorry, but I don't get "surprising" someone who is supposed to be your life partner with huge news like this . . . I wouldn't even take a test without telling him.
