Richard is the BEST!

When we starting wedding planning, we knew we wanted to invest in a great photographer - Richard surpassed our expectations and we are just blown away by the photos he was able to capture. Along with his talented photography, he makes you feel extremely comfortable and provides just the right amount of guidance to keep photos natural while still getting the best shot. On top of that, he got us our photos in just a few weeks - all 1700! And we love every single one.

Surprise Wedding

Richard was absolutely amazing! We had a surprise wedding planned, and had a few requests where he was "in hiding" as well as less staged and more natural in the moment pictures. He captured everything and more, perfectly. Richard was an absolute pleasure to work with, went over and above on our requests and was a lot of fun! He had some great ideas on the day of options for additional pictures that we didnt even think of. Crazy talented photographer which I now use commercially and will absolutely be recommending to everyone!

Just wonderful!

Richard Barlow is an incredible photographer and an absolute delight to work with. His skills floored us with both our engagement and wedding photos. Like really, we can’t even pick our favorites we just love them all so much! His ability to make you feel comfortable and confident was much appreciated during such a high stress day. Richard communicated so well throughout the entirety of our experience and went over the top with his time. He never overstepped, listened to exactly what we envisioned, and made sure to capture every shot we requested without fail. Plus the turnaround time was so fast and we always had gorgeous sneak peaks! We will absolutely be using Richard again for all of our future photo opportunities! Don’t hesitate on this man, his talent is unmatched!

Richard Barlow is the absolute best!

My husband and I hired Richard Barlow to capture our wedding in August and he was an absolute dream to work with! He weathered the August heat like a champ, captured every special moment for 10 hours without a single complaint, and helped keep our wedding party on schedule. We enjoyed working with him and absolutely love our wedding photos and couldn't have asked for a better photographer to capture our special day! We highly recommend booking him for any occasion.

Wonderful photographer!

I don’t even know where to begin with describing how great of a photographer and person Richard is. Our relationship began in 2011 when Richard took my high school senior photos…fast forward to college senior photos, engagement photos, bridal boudoir photos and finally our wedding photos. His work is spectacular! Richard is patient, kind, funny, and makes the time spent with you taking pictures a great experience. I could go on forever about the high quality of his work and his personal attributes but I will leave it at this…I wouldn’t have chosen any other person to capture these special milestones in my life.

Loved every minute & every shot!

Working with Richard was hands down one of the easiest parts of my wedding process. Our package included two sessions (we chose engagement + day of) and an album with prints of our choice from the big day. Richard was super flexible with the planning process; brought great ideas to the table and went above and beyond our expectations. Due to COVID, timelines got pushed but he remained flexible given the circumstances and everyone absolutely loved him when the big day finally arrived! He wasted no time, captured great shots, and was a genuine pleasure to be around -- like having a friend behind the lens! I would absolutely recommend him to anyone looking for a stress-free photographer -- my only regret is that I won't get to hang out with him again now that it's all behind us! (Until my next trip back to NC that is)

The best photographer

He is the best! Literally love every photo him and his second photographer, Kate, took at our wedding! He flew all the way to RI for our wedding and captured so many beautiful moments that we will cherish forever!

Great all-around photographer!

We booked Richard as our photographer without even meeting him first, because we trusted the judgement of our wedding planner, Nicole at Premier Party Planners. Our wedding date was set for May 8, 2020 and was originally supposed to be a big event at Chatham Station with about 180 guests. That obviously couldn’t happen but we didn’t want to wait to get married. We decided to do a very small ceremony with less than 10 people at home in our backyard. Richard and Nicole still agreed to come and be a part of our day. Richard was amazing. The pictures turned out even better than I could have imagined. He was professional, polite, easy-going, and has a great eye for getting the best photos. It even rained on our wedding day and Richard pulled up the radar on his phone and found us a 30 minute window to get some pictures without rain. The day wouldn’t have been the same if we didn’t have the photos Richard took to look back on. I cannot recommend him enough!

BOW DOWN to the master of the lens

Richard is the best photographer we have ever seen. His pictures are so beautiful and professional, there is really no comparison. He made our wedding day so fun, and even though it was 1000 degrees outside, we knew we were in the best hands and he would make sure our pictures were the most beautiful. He really takes pride in finding the best lighting, angles, real estate on the property, and captures so many moments to make them ever lasting memories. From the first looks, to the ceremony, to the cocktail hour, to the reception, to candid shots, portraits, he absolutely nails every shot. Not only is his photography top notch, he is the coolest guy, so down to earth and easy to vibe with. Nothing feels staged, but rather so natural and easy going. He is seriously the nicest guy and the best photographer we could have booked. Thanks so much Richard, we love you!! The best photographer (and team!) that I’ve ever worked with!

My husband and I hired Richard to capture the most special moments of our lives starting with our engagement photos, my bridal portraits, and of course, our wedding day. We’re so happy that we chose Richard for all three because he killed it each time, but we were able to take favorites from each session and make sure we got more of those during the next one. He braced the elements with us, our crazy families haha, and was always there at a moment’s notice for whatever we needed. He got every shot that we wanted and others that we didn’t think to get which we so appreciated. I was extremely pleased with what we paid and everything we got in return because most photographers do not offer a 12 hour wedding day service. He was thoughtful enough to pair us with a second photographer that had her wedding at the same venue at ours which only helped us get even better photos since she already knew the venue. Richard was quick to respond to emails, deliver photos back on time, and even sent us a ton of wedding previews which was an unexpected surprise right before we left our honeymoon! Most photographers I’ve worked with have been an hour of “turn your head left,” “move your arm right,” but it was never this way with Richard. We always felt so natural and comfortable taking pictures with Richard and it never felt like an endless stream of instructions. It was a breath of fresh air working with him! I’d highly recommend Richard for anyone interested in bridal photos. :)

Incredible Photographer!

It is hard to sum up just how incredible Richard Barlow is. We’ve had the pleasure of seeing him photograph two of our closest friends’ weddings, so there was never really a doubt in our minds that he would be the perfect fit for our own. We have always felt that Richard has an incredible ability to capture the love, beauty, and emotion in each photograph he takes. I should note that my wife and mother-in-law both do photography on the side so they did not take the decision to hire a photographer lightly.

Richard came all the way from North Carolina to Burlington, VT to shoot our wedding. People thought we were crazy for not going with a local Vermont photographer, but we couldn’t have been happier with our decision to have Richard as our wedding photographer.

Richard allowed for the day to unfold in a genuine and authentic way. He was cool, calm, and collected, navigated pushy family members with ease, and brought a sense of tranquility to a day in which the weather forecasts changed by the second.

Despite the fact that the weather forced us to be creative with our timing and shortened our photo sessions unexpectedly, we never once worried about how our day would be captured because we knew Richard was there. He was always there to take the perfect shot but was never imposing.

We were so excited to receive some preview photos that Richard sent us the day after our wedding - it allowed us to relive some of the most special moments of our wedding weekend. We feel so confident in Richard that we are writing this review before even seeing the final photographs.

We are so genuinely happy that we chose him to capture our wedding weekend and we will definitely plan to work him again to document our future life milestones.

My husband and I have used Richard for photography for the last 3 years. He did my college graduation photos in 2015, and the experience was great, so I had no doubt that he was who I wanted to shoot our wedding and all the special events leading up to it. Richard shot our engagement pictures, my bridal portraits, and our wedding day, and each set of photos was even more amazing than the last. Each time we worked with Richard we had a great time. He makes the experience fun and relaxing, and always captures amazing shots. And he is an expert at the "dress poof"! We will be hiring Richard in the future for all our celebrations and milestones--there is no one we trust more to capture our special moments.

Richard Barlow Photography exceeded our expectations for my daughter's wedding on May 12, 2018, in Fayetteville NC! He and his assistant, Kate, were everywhere, and took pains to cover all the moments of the wedding, from start to finish. Hiring Richard was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding day! We met before the wedding to go over our vision and he took care to get the shots we really wanted and so many more wonderful candids. He was completely unobtrusive during the big moments but still managed to capture beautiful shots. Before, during and after the wedding he was professional and friendly and easy to work with. Highly, highly recommended! Richard was calm, pleasant, and so efficient with time! My portrait session was easy on me (even when I got too hot) and he was able to get some absolutely phenomenal shots. On the wedding day, he and his assistant were great. I am so happy with all of the moments he captured that will allow us to cherish our wedding day and all of the people who were there to celebrate with us - forever! Very much enjoyed working with Richard Barlow. He is a wonderful, talented photographer, and goes above and beyond to make each clients sessions special. I was lucky enough to meet him when my friend booked him for boudoir photos and then again assisting with wardrobe changes for my sisters snow session earlier this year. Richard is the best! He came all the way from North Carolina to Austin, Texas to be apart of our big day. Richard is so relaxed and professional, but assertive and lets you know how to stand and what to do (which is great for non-models like us !). I first met Richard at the wedding of my best friend several years ago. He was super easy to work with, he put all of the bridesmaids and the bride at ease, and his photographs were lovely. When we started planning our wedding he was the first vendor I called. He worked with me to create a package that was within our budget. We just got all of our photos back yesterday and they're so great! Now that my husband has seen the pro photos he's started saying things like "we should do a shoot every year" which was a foreign concept to him before the wedding.

Richard is an immensely talented photographer and all-around awesome person! We hired him to be our wedding photographer after we saw a preview shot he posted from a friend's wedding. The photo was stunning, and as soon as I saw it I knew he was "the one." I emailed Richard at midnight and by the time I woke up at 6am he had already responded and sent me multiple online albums to peruse for wedding venues similar to ours. I was convinced, based on the magazine-quality of the photos, that there would be no way we could afford him. I was stunned when I looked over his photo packages to discover he was *cheaper* than all the other photographers we interviewed!

We got married at Highgrove Estate in Fuquay-Varina, NC, and ours was the first wedding he shot there. After talking with him in person over coffee, he met us at Highgrove for an open house so that we could walk the grounds together and start getting ideas - all of this on his own time and at no additional charge. Richard is a very laid back guy, and that's exactly what we were looking for in a photographer. On the day of the wedding, we hit a couple of bumps, namely an hour-long power outage at our reception due to a fast and furious thunderstorm. Still, Richard got some amazing shots and he reminded us that it's the "rocky" moments that make for great stories. And he even saved the day with his Bluetooth speaker so that our guests could keep dancing in the dark!

Our photos are gorgeous!! They are such treasures for us to enjoy for years to come. We continue to receive so many compliments!

I would HIGHLY recommend Richard for all of your photography needs! I know we plan to make him the official family photographer and look forward to working with him again.

Richard exceeded our expectations. From the moment we first met him (and walked away saying "we really like this guy") to the finished product of our wedding pictures, he was wonderful.

The quality and spread of our wedding pictures is phenomenal- he got every detail and captured some great moments. He is easy to work with and put my bridesmaids and I at ease. We also got a second shooter through him who was very helpful in getting those extra shots/angles.

Richard was the best person we could have chosen to capture our wedding day. He was extremely professional, kind, and helpful both leading up to our wedding and on our wedding day. He made us feel completely comfortable at all times and this can be seen in the amazing photographs that he took. We did our first look, bridal party, and family photos prior to the ceremony and reception. Richard helped make this process both fun and efficient. We loved working with Richard for our wedding day photography. Though his portfolio speaks for itself, after meeting Richard we knew he was the right photographer for us based on his willingness to go out of his way to meet with us in person and his friendly and professional demeanor when we got together. Throughout the planning process Richard was always accessible and extremely responsive. On his suggestion, I created and shared a Pinterest board with him to keep him up-to-date on the types of photos I envisioned for my bridals and our wedding day, which was such an easy and efficient way to stay in touch. I wavered back and forth on whether I wanted to do bridals, because I am not one who likes to be in front of the camera solo, but on the day of my shoot Richard helped me find my inner model, I loved every second and the photos turned out amazing! As our July wedding day approached I was concerned about finding a beautiful, but shady spot for our first look. Richard, again, went out of his way to meet me and walk through our site to make a game plan. Doing this put me as so much ease in the last few weeks of planning! On our wedding day Richard was a joy to work with. It was just like having another friend/family member around as we went about our wedding day business. He did an excellent job of coordinating our large wedding party for group photos, not an easy task! When we got our photos back from Richard I was awestruck. He truly captured every moment that mattered (and the moments we didn’t even know happened!) from start to finish. From the cocktail napkins to the glow stick dance floor party, he didn’t miss a beat. Our photos perfectly tell the story of our wedding day and we will truly cherish them forever. We are so grateful to Richard and the role he played in making our wedding day go so smoothly and being the one to capture the best day of our lives.

After working with Richard over the past year, I could not imagine our engagement and wedding being captured by anyone else. Early on in the wedding planning process, my husband and I decided photography would be one of the most important aspects of our wedding celebrations. I was instantly drawn to Richard's unique documentary style of photography; his pictures can be soft and feminine, bold and vibrant, or some artfully juxtaposed combination of the two. Upon meeting him, my husband immediately loved Richard's calm demeanor and professional yet laidback approach. We were so comfortable working with Richard, he put us at ease and made us laugh during those first few awkward moments of a photoshoot.

Richard was awesome to work with. He is funny and laid back and all of my bridesmaids loved him! He had great suggestions for photo op venues. My pictures turned out fabulous, and my only problem is going to be choosing which shots to include in my photo album! I would recommend Richard to any of my friends, family, acquaintances, etc. who are looking for a great photographer for their event. I cannot say enough about Richard and his talent!! I am his second shooter for weddings and was fortunate enough to have him capture our special day. Richard is professional, enthusiastic and very talented. He knows his tool very well. Our photos were unbelievably gorgeous. Both Richard and his assistant shooter has a great eye for detail and light. He is equally as skilled in post production. I would recommend this service to my closest friends and family. We loved working with Richard (and Mandy), and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him! We spent a good amount of time looking at photographers' blogs, and we felt the quality of Richard's photos were by far the best. They looked the most natural (not overly staged), the best edited (not overly filtered), and most importantly, they captured the moment. Richard was the only photographer we met with, and we knew immediately, we wanted to work with him. He was incredibly easy to talk to and really took the time to find out what parts or people in our wedding was most important to us. He really helped make the wedding day go by so smoothly. We never had to ask where he was, or ask him to capture this or that - he was five steps ahead of us. We got to enjoy our day without thinking about the pictures because we trusted Richard 100%. And when we got the pictures, we were just blown away. I literally could not have asked for a more fabulous photographer. Richard made two separate trips up to MD to do photographs for our engagement and for our wedding. Everyone in the wedding party and each of our wedding vendors commented on how wonderful he was to work. The picture quality and creativity was fabulous and every picture we have posted on social media/shared with family has been admired in awe. We received nearly 1000 perfect photos only 6 weeks after our wedding day that have allowed us all to relive the entire day and enjoy it all over again. It was the most worth-while vendor we hired and we hope to have Richard again for any future photography needs!!

I've told him before, and I will tell you now.... Richard Barlow is my spirit animal. His work is magical. Beyond that, he kept me calm on my wedding day and made my HUSBAND feel comfortable in front of a camera (which is a miracle.) My mom used to teach high school photography and when she saw Richard Barlow's booth at a wedding show she stopped me and said THIS IS YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER...and trust me, it takes a lot to impress her. Richard Barlow is absolutely AMAZING! We had one hell of a task for him and he was up for the challenge. My new husband, Josh, and I got married in the dead of winter 2.9.2015 - yes, on purpose. Our wedding was at Bear Creek Mountain Resort in Macungie, PA, a ski resort with a gorgeous hotel and beautiful scenery. We both snowboard and thought it would be fun to board down the mountain in our wedding attire :) We were ecstatic, and a bit scared, as was Richard! The plan was to have our First Look around noon, go up the mountain for our run, touch up and then do family and party photos, and then have a little time to relax before our ceremony at 5:30, all of this by himself with no assistant! Besides starting 30 minutes late, everything went off without a hitch, thanks to Richard! When we started up the mountain, it began to mist but Richard was prepared. The resort had snowmobiles for both Richard and our videographer and although they were loud and bumpy, the pictures are PERFECT! He caught us cruising, interacting, laughing and even falling a few times. I do wish I had looked and smiled at the camera some more, but my concenration was elsewhere LOL! The rest of the day continued to be perfect; Richard captured Josh and his groomsmen on the slopes, got our huge families in photos in front of the beautiful lobby fireplace, shot everything at our ceremony without being "in the way" as we asked, and of course, every loving, fun and crazy moment at our reception. We also took some stunning photos at night outside with the mountain lit up. In the end, he worked a good 12+ hour day and we are so grateful to have had him shoot our big day. Richard has that creative eye you want in a photographer and his friendly nature and open communication made our decision to hire him a no-brainer. RICHARD BARLOW IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST!

Richard Barlow was absolutely amazing to work with! He did a few different types of photo shoots for us throughout our wedding process. He would come up with unique ideas for photos while also ensuring he was capturing some of our ideas for photos. He definitely has a natural eye for being able to create the perfect shot. His competitive pricing is also a huge plus. We felt like we were getting an A+ photographer without having to pay huge unreasonable costs. His laid back and calming personality is easy to work with and was exactly what I needed on the big day. We constantly receive compliments on all of our photos and we can't wait to continue to use him for family photo shoots in the future!

This review is long overdue. I absolutely love Richard, he did an amazing job with my pictures, he was very prompt, professional, easy to talk to, extremely laid back and easy-going. He put up with all of my crazy relatives and friends all day with a smile on his face. I never had a problem with getting in touch with him, he was easy to work with in regards to scheduling and he always did whatever type of picture or poses that I wanted/suggested. He even helped me with my wedding timeline and work out everything with my videographer. In other words, I wouldn't choose any other person for my wedding or in the future to take pictures and I don't regret my decision in any way. I can't wait to give him a call when we are expecting and all of our family pictures from then on! Thank you Richard for being so perfect!

Garrett and I first met Richard Barlow at the Fall 2013 Triangle Bridal Expo in Raleigh, NC. There were a lot of photographers at the Expo, but no one’s work stood out like Richard’s. We knew from the moment we laid eyes on his work that we wanted him to be our photographer. Richard is extremely talented and is a pleasure to work with. My husband and I had the very great fortune of meeting Richard at out friend's wedding outside of Durham. We weren't even engaged yet, and live in Boston, but I grabbed his card anyway as I knew then and there that he HAD to be our photographer. I hadn't even seen the photos yet, but I already knew from watching him work that they would be amazing.
Richard made planning from a distance incredibly easy. He was always quick to respond to any questions I had, and even advised me on which camera to get my husband as a wedding gift.
I still can't get over how hard he worked, shooting our rehearsal dinner until very late in the evening, and starting bright and early the next morning on the golf course with my husband. It was so much fun having him at the salon with us, and his fun yet calming energy was infectious and invaluable to me. Our family and friends absolutely loved him as well.
Richard captured our big day with such skill and artistry, that to look through our photos is to step back in time and relive every amazing moment of that day. He didn't miss a thing! Everyone who has seen our pictures absolutely raves about them. They can't believe how gorgeous and unique they are, and we couldn't agree more.
Do yourself a favor, and hire this guy!

There are not enough words to describe how wonderful Richard is! I fell in love with Richard after he photographed my sister's wedding two years ago. The day I was engaged I immediately reached out to him! He worked a 18 hour day at my wedding-taking photos of the getting ready process, ceremony, breaks, family portraits of guests and reception. He kept the energy alive the ENTIRE day! In short, he is an amazing photographer...and very affordable.

We first met Richard at a wedding show in Raleigh. We knew right then we loved his style just by the set up of his booth and the pictures he had on display. We made an appointment to meet with him to get to know him better & at that same appointment we booked for our engagement, rehearsal & wedding shoot. After the small talk over some dinner we realize Richard was the one for us. Our engagement shoot was scheduled for a Saturday that turned out to be a drizzly rainy day. I called Richard to tell him I did not want to do this If it wasn't sunny out.. ladies we all know what our hair looks like in the rain. Richard was so accommodating he rescheduled our engagement shoot for the following day. Taking time away from his family on a Sunday to accommodate our needs meant a lot for us. Richard made our engagement shoot so much fun. The shoot took place in three different locations & three different counties. Richard also shot our rehearsal dinner and wedding day. He was always easy to get in touch with and would always respond very quickly through email, phone call, or even meet you at a local diner for lunch. My husband and I were originally searching for someone who could give us the best photography for a great price and Richard did all of those things. He had great creative ideas at not just our wedding but our engagement shoot and our rehearsal dinner. We wanted a movie poster displayed of our engagement picture with credits to all of our wedding party and vendors at the wedding, Richard worked hard to design exactly what we wanted! Richard has became a part of our family! I would definitely recommend Richard to any of my friends or family and will always use him in the future!

I first met Richard Barlow at a Raleigh Bridal Expo; I was captivated by his artistic photography and amazing work, however, my husband and I were planning our wedding in Baltimore City, so had not intended on booking a Raleigh vendor. After a short conversation and further browsing through his albums, however, I quickly realized that Richard was a class act, and I wanted to fly him to Maryland to capture our wedding day. We were delighted that he was available for our wedding weekend, and we could not have been happier with our decision! I came across Richard Barlow Photography through a web search and was just captivated by the photographs on his website. We were thrilled when he agreed to work with us! We purchased engagement and bridal portrait sessions in addition to wedding day photos. When I originally wrote my review for Richard, I hadn't received my pictures yet (only my preview shot, which was amazing). After receiving all my pictures I felt compelled to add to my reivew just how in love with my wedding pictures I am.

I first came across Richard through a friends engagement pictures on Facebook more than 3 years before I even got married. As soon as I saw them, I knew I wanted to work with him when the time came. In the mean time I had already recommended him to 3 friends that were getting married before me (and I hadn't even met him yet!). When the time finally came I contacted Richard immediately before he booked up. I couldn't be happier with my wedding pictures and all the special moments that he captured. I will be seeing him again for sure as he has already booked with at least two more family/friends. He is more than just a vendor, he becomes part of your wedding and a friend :)

Richard and Mandy were absolutely amazing to work with. Both of them were flexible and committed to getting our great photos - with out getting in the way. I have already recommend Richard Barlow to several friends and I am sure I will continue to do so. Such a WONDERFUL experience working with Richard (and Mandy his assistant)!!! Picking a photographer was the hardest decision for me regarding our wedding, as both my husband and I are big fans of photography. We had such a great time working with Richard and appreciate his laid back attitude while perfectly capturing our wedding. Richard has an amazing eye and a unique ability to incorporate juxtaposition into his photography. We have had wonderful compliments about his work, many look like they are out of a magazine. It was an absolute pleasure to work with Richard Barlow for my wedding in September. Richard is unbelievably talented, and I have nothing but extraordinary things to say about him, and his work. He was very professional and personable throughout the entire journey! By the end of the night, it seemed like he was a life-long friend. He interacted with all of the guests, and they too had nothing but wonderful things to say about him. One thing I loved the most was, I did not have to give him a "shot list." I trusted based on pictures I saw on his website, that he would do a great job, and that he did, and so much more!
Richard is hands down, the best photographer out there! He does an excellent job at capturing every single moment! I look forward to being able to use him as my photographer again in the future :)

Richard Barlow Photography did and excellent job on our wedding, photos were phenomenal. He is very professional and punctual ( I am a stickler for being on time). He was always available to answer my million questions as a nervous new bride. I couldn't have been happier with the service. It was nice to have someone who knew what they were doing to ease your nerves on such an important day.

If I could rate Richard Barlow higher than 5, I would! Words cannot express how thrilled we were with our wedding pictures. We got so many compliments that I lost count. On the wedding day, he was just what I needed as an anxious bride. He was calm, organized and flexible. He's also got a great sense of humor which always helps on such a crazy day! He gave direction when needed and had several great ideas for photos. We booked the second photographer too (Mandy) and she was also a joy to work with. We cannot wait to work with RBP again!

My husband and I used Richard for our wedding in June. We chose Richard because of his innovative pictures where he really focuses on using your surroundings to make the pictures look more natural than posed. We could not have been happier with the results. The pictures definitely portray the love we share but also how much fun we had on our wedding day. We could not have asked for anything more and will definitely be using Richard in the future as we start our family. A friend of ours has already booked Richard for her daughters wedding after she saw ours! We are so excited for them!

Richard deserves nothing but the best reviews! The day after my husband popped the question I emailed him, because I knew he had to photograph our wedding. Richard was the photographer for a wedding I was in last year, and the photos were the best I have ever seen! And, I continue to be impressed with his work after my own engagement photos, rehearsal dinner and wedding day.

Richard is wonderful to work with. He is professional, artistic and personable. He took the time to really capture every moment of our wedding weekend, and got to know everyone involved - a major feat considering that some people (including mother of the bride and the officiant) weren't particularly fond of getting their photos taken. I've shown friends/coworkers/family members our photos and I continually hear that ours are some of the best they have ever seen!

I highly recommend Richard and don't think that you can find a better guy to shoot your special moments! Thank you Richard! You'll forever be a special part of our special day(s)! :)

Definitely a late review, but not because Richard didn't give us his best for our wedding! I just went through all the photos about a million times to create Christmas cards and photo books as presents, and was reminded again and again what an amazing day it was, and how well Richard captured it. We were doing a small wedding, and so a small budget, but Richard was still so accessible and willing to go the extra mile. I was late for my bridal shots time with him because of the salon, but while he was waiting for me he took some really beautiful photos of the little details around the hotel room - my mom's calendar, my shoes, my dad's pocket watch..we wanted him to be inconspicuous during the ceremony and he was still able to get beautiful shots of everything (not easy with our outdoor garden ceremony at the UNC Botanical Gardens, trees everywhere!) and our couple shots following the ceremony are breathtaking - people probably think we're vain because we have them everywhere in the house!
A wonderful guy, and a fabulous photographer - Richard's the one you want to work with!

To every bride and groom out there: you can not find a photographer better than Richard Barlow for your wedding. Not only is he talented, but he is so easy going and calming- exactly what you need on your big day. He was by far the best person that we worked with for our wedding. He made myself and my bridesmaids all feel beautiful, and he gave just the right amount of direction while also allowing our own personalities to shine through. His assistant, Mandy was also amazing. I am so thankful I choose Richard to photograph my special day! He arrived and was enthusiastic and friendly. He was extremely professional and offered guidance and progressional advice. None of us ever felt uncomfortable around him. He always gave us our space yet got awesome photographs! He had great ideas but did an awesome job of incorporating my ideas as well! He was fun to work with, too! I will certainly have him shoot phoographs for me in the future!

Richard was absolutely amazing to work with! He was very flexible to work with and was able to capture many stunning shots of us! We loved that he spent our entire wedding day with us - he started with the boys on the golf course at 8 am and was there until we left the reception at 11 pm! Richard is an absolutley AMAZING photographer and a pleasure to work with. He took our engagement photos back in the fall and was very flexible to work with, we wanted to do a couple different locations (the softball field where we met, downtown Raleigh, and Yates Mill Pond) and Richard fulfilled our every request. He did a great job capturing "us" in the photos! We liked our engagement photos so much that I made a photobook out of them as our guest book and my friends also used some of them on an invite for our couple's shower. We have received tons of compliments on them! I would HIGHLY recommend Richard to anyone I know!

It was truly wonderful and easy to work with Richard. We gave him very little direction on what we wanted from our wedding pictures, but what we got far exceeded our expectations. He captured the beauty of the day, the venue, and all of our guests perfectly and artfully, using his creative eye to get great shots of kids, adults, and ducks alike!

My husband and I were beyond thrilled with Richard’s talent, creativity, professionalism, and willingness to be flexible on our wedding day. Since we both work in the visual communications industries (he is a graphic designer and I work at a local publication), we were moderately picky when it came to finding the right photographer that possessed all the right talents and capabilities to meet our artistic desires. We researched a few photographers in the Baltimore-Annapolis surrounding area, but their services and overall style seemed entirely too cookie-cutter for us. However, we were lucky enough to stumble across a website ad for Richard’s website, and after browsing his portfolio – we were in love! We also could hardly believe he was relatively “new” to shooting weddings. Since we were in Maryland and he was in Greensboro, I was kind of hesitant at first, but it was no big deal at all – Richard made the hike for our engagement pictures during a January snowstorm and we held our waterside photo session in the absolutely freezing bitter cold one afternoon – he was a total trooper about it and made our photos look fabulous, despite everyone’s’ total numbness!
Throughout the 8 months of wedding planning, Richard communicated back and forth promptly about everything that was currently going on, any ideas or suggestions he had, etc. On the day of the wedding, he was there literally all day long – from getting the guys on the golf course in the early morning to shooting the bridesmaids and myself getting ready to us making our “grand exit” with sparklers at 11pm!
His assistant, Mandy, was fabulous as well with offering a bride’s perspective on different shots, poses, angles, etc. She was a total sweetheart throughout the day!
Richard is not just a photographer, he is an artist. If you want true artwork from your wedding, and not “just” pictures, he is the best photographer out there.

So glad we used RBP! We hired him to take our engagement photos and shoot our wedding. He traveled from NC to MD on two occasions. The price was unbeatable and the quality of the photos is amazing. Richard is very talented and we're very lucky to have found him to capture these special moments. Aside from his talent, he's truly a nice person and very easy to work with. I love the pictures that Richard took of our wedding. He is able to capture those special moments when you don't even relize that he is taking pictures of you. Which makes the pictures have so much more life to them than when they are posed pictures. The composition is always perfect and he takes into account every detail. I usually hate pictures of myself because I don't think I'm very photogenic but somehow he made me look good in them : ). I can't wait until we see Richard again to take pictures of our brand new baby girl. He's a great photographer - I highly recommend him!

Richard was so much fun to work with and took some amazing pictures. We found Richard after he shot my first cousin's wedding a year or so ago and were so impressed. After seeing Richard Barlow's photographs I knew that he was the person I wanted to photograph my wedding. From my first phone call with Richard he was personable and professional. He kept in contact for the months leading up to my wedding and spoke with me in detail to get an idea of what kinds of photographs I wanted throughout the day. He arrived promptly and even traveled to multiple sites prior to the actual ceremony. With rain in the forecast I was an uptight bride to say the least, thankfully Richard was there to reassure me that we had time to get everything done. He was very calm, collected, and had things under the control, something I really appreciated and can't say about other vendors that day.
