I was fortunate enough to work with Melissa for three events, my trash the dress session, my rehearsal party and my wedding. Melissa is AMAZING to say the least her hair and make up skills exceeded my expectations. She somehow managed to make me look amazing all three days. Also the actual day of my wedding i had her come back for touch ups and I was so late, i honestly did not even expect her to be there which i would have totally understood if she wasn't because i was running so behind schedule BUT she showed up at my reception and touched me up in the bathroom!! I was amazed and so grateful that she stuck around when in fact she honestly didn't have to. SHe is also the cutest little thing and makes the getting ready part of it fun she plays music and talks and you can really tell she loves what she does. Her husband Edgar was also great with the booking process he was so flexible and responsive. They are a great team!!

I wanted to write a review for Melissa, Edgar and their team at MVP Hair and Make-Up Artistry as they were such an important part of our wedding day. My 3 bridesmaids and myself were so thrilled with having Melissa come and spend the morning before the ceremony doing our hair and make-up. We truly feel like she brought out the more polished and beautiful version of us all and there is nothing better than feeling exquisite as a bride on the day of your wedding.

Melissa made me feel so comfortable and relaxed and I knew that I could trust her to do a great job. One of my girls although loved her first hairstyle wanted it to look a bit different and she did not hesitate to make the change she wanted so she was 100% happy with her look and it took her no time at all.

I would absolutely recommend MVP to anyone wanting a Mexican destination wedding. Melissa is professional, sweet, and enjoyable to spend the morning with. Edgar and Melissa return emails so quickly and answer any questions you may have leading up to the big day. They make the getting ready process so easy and eliminate one of the stresses of wedding planning.

Melissa and Edgar are the best! Edgar is incredible at responding immediately and they were both so flexible with scheduling and being able to accommodate my every request. My hair and makeup was one of my very favorite things about the wedding. Melissa did an amazing job--she is so talented. She worked on my younger sisters and my mom and mother-in-law--so a very wide range of ages and hair/makeup needs/wants--she exceeded everyone's expectations and amazingly was able to get 6 women ready in a surprisingly short amount of time. I recommend them absolutely. And as a bonus--in addition to being talented and professional, they are both very nice and kind people and lovely to be around on your wedding day!

Melissa handled my hair and makeup and the makeup for all of the women in the bridal party, a total of 7 people. She did an AMAZING job! After the trial, I couldn't stop staring at my reflection in the mirror because I had never seen myself look that way. I have honestly never felt more beautiful.

As an African-American woman, I was extremely nervous about finding someone with the knowledge of my unique hair texture and skin needs. Those nerves were put to rest the minute I found Melissa. Her background in being from L.A. was a huge asset and she had colors to suit all of the varying skin tones. She and Edgar are the utmost professionals and worked to answer any question I had, and even were accommodating in dealing with my periodic moments of "bride brain".

All of the ladies received so many compliments from other guests at the Hard Rock Cancun about how beautiful we looked, even the day after the wedding. It's the perfect gift to give your bridesmaids and your family. All in all, working with MVP was one of the best decisions I made for the big day!

I used MVP/Melissa for my April 7th wedding at Azul Beach. Both Melissa and Edgar were a pleasure to deal with. After booking my hotel I think I booked hair and makeup. I had read reviews on BDW and I was drawn to something to about MVP. They were easy to deal with, answered emails quickly and payment was easy. I went with the trial and hair and makeup for the day of the wedding. We arrived that Wednesday and we scheduled an appointment with Melissa for Thursday. She was on time, curteous and a pleasure to deal with. She made me very comfortable and asked what I had in mind. I had only brought one picture for hair and none of makeup. I don't like that cakey makeup more natural. Melisa did just that! She gave me two eyes to choose from of course. My mom,aunt and Maid and Matron of honor were there to see. I have a tough crowd! We ended up choosing an eye that would show well in pictures. Remember you want something that may be alittle more because you want to see it in the pictures of your wedding.

Once we choose to go with the other eye she changed the look and redid my hair and I was ready for the evening to spend with our family and friends. She really was so sweet. The day of my wedding they were on time as well and she came with two assistants. I had a big group and we needed more than just Melissa. Who knew we'd need 6 hours of hair and makeup! lol Melissa did my hair 3 times because it just wasn't coming out the way she wanted. I'm sure anyone else would have just gone with the 1st time but she really took it out and started over. It showed to me that she was really proud of the work she does, as she should be. My hair stayed in place, my makeup stayed the whole night. I loved my bridal party's hair and makeup as well. They really do a great job and Melissa makes sure everyone is touched up before she goes.

I hired MVP to do my hair and make-up for my Dec 3, 2011 wedding in Puerto Morelos, Mexico. They came highly recommended by the resort where we were having our wedding. My husband and I traveled down to the resort in March 2011 to meet with various vendors and I got a chance to do a make-up and hair trial with Melissa. I highly recommend that for brides to be. I even recommended MVP to my wedding coordinator who had a bride that needed make-up & hair services for a June 2011 wedding. I only heard great things about MVP's services from that June wedding.

Melissa and Edgar were very professional and prompt. They answered all my e-mails months preceding the wedding and gave me some great advice on how to prep my sensitive skin before the big day. I've always had eczema and Melissa was able to cover my flare ups that decided to make an appearance on my forehead on the big day. She understood my concerns and was able to make my skin look flawless.

She did a great job on my sister-in-law's hair and was so efficient with her time. I really loved the way she styled my hair and it was exactly what I wanted. The make-up lasted throughout the day and night (through tears and sweat)! And my hair was still intact even through two wardrobe changes.

My wedding was November 19, 2011 at the Gran Bahia Principe Akumal in Riviera Maya, Mexico. Melissa and her assistant were prompt and ready to work for the day at 7 am since our first look pictures were scheduled to begin at 1 pm! They beautified my bridal hair and make up, my mom, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and two matrons of honor as well. I was all ready and set for the entire day and night, feeling absolutely beautiful and ready to marry my best friend. Melissa listened to my thoughts and requests, while offering her expertise as well. I was extremely satisfied with my whole look- my hair and make up were both glamorous, yet natural, and were absolutely perfect for my wedding day and all-night-party!!! Thank you!

This is a very log overdue review of my Amazing experience with MVP Hair and Makeup Artistry.

My journey with MVP started at the beginning of last year when after finding them on different bridal websites I decided to email them. My initial email was to inquire about their services. I remember that within a few minutes of my initial email I received a reply back from Edgar with a list of their services. Since I was having a small wedding in Cancun I only needed my hair/makeup to be done as well as my mom's. I emailed Edgar back with a list of services that I was looking for (Bridal Trial Hair/Makeup, Wedding day Hair/Makeup, Mom's Hair/Makeup, and Additional touch ups until the Reception). After receiving my inquiry of services Edgar personalized my own package. Now this is what I call outstanding service. At first I was somewhat hesitant as I had never spend so much money on hair/makeup but it was my wedding and I was not willing to cut corners on how I was going to look. I immediately made the deposit to block out the dates.

The months leading up to my wedding I kept in touch with Edgar and Melissa. I will email them my ideas, questions and concerns. I always received a reply within minutes or I waited no more than 24 hours for a reply. Every time I received a reply both Edgar and Melissa were professional and responsive to my ideas, questions or concerns. There were a few times in which Melissa was traveling and she would take time from her busy traveling schedule to email me back. Who does that when they are traveling? The service that I received from Edgar and Melissa from the beginning was beyond amazing.

I got married on August 20, 2012 at Sun Palace Resort and Spa. I had the pleasure of meeting Edgar and Melissa in the lobby of the resort the day before the wedding. I was a nervous wreck. Edgar and Melissa were running late to our meeting. They contacted me at the resort to tell me that they were running late and when they finally arrived they were both extremely apologetic. Edgar left and Melissa and I went upstairs to my room. I had my wedding dress and veil out for her to see. I had no previous ideas of what I wanted my hair/makeup to look I left my bridal look up to Melissa’s professional judgment. Melissa took a quick glance at my dress and veil and started to work on my hair. Throughout the entire time I was relax and felt completely comfortable. Melissa and I talked about so many different things we laughed so much. After a few hours of working on my hair/makeup it was time for me to see myself. Melissa told me to look at myself in the mirror. I got so emotional when I saw myself I could not believe that the girl in the mirror was me. I looked like a princess exactly what I had picture in my mind. I was so impress with Melissa’s talent and eye for perfection. After she was done she told me that she had a crazy idea of doing a hair change for the reception. She told me that this was going to be at an additional cost. I was hesitant at first as I did not want to spend more money but I went for it and I am so glad I did as I loved my second hair style. After Melissa was done with my Hair/Makeup trial she asked me if I had any plans for that night I told her we were having our Rehearsal dinner. She asked if she could see the dress that I was going to wear I showed it to her and without asking she completely changed my hair/makeup to go with that dress. This was such a sweet gesture of hers to me. This is the kind of person that Melissa is.

The wedding day came I was a nervous wreck as I was getting married but it was also raining really hard. We did not know if the wedding was going to take place. I remember it been such a crazy and stressful day. Melissa arrived promptly at 1:00p.m. I remember that when I saw her I was so upset that I started to cry. I remember she hugged me and told me that everything was going to be fine. She ever ran around with me before starting to work as my manicure had gotten ruined my luck. She was so sweet and calm through out the entire time. To allow me time to calm down Melissa started to work on my mom’s hair/makeup. It was my turn but I was really calmed as I knew exactly how I was going to look based on my trial. Melissa was cracking up jokes and we laughed so much this is exactly what I needed. I had the photographer and his assistant takes pictures while getting ready and they were great by giving Melissa the space that she needed to work. They took great shots of getting ready. It was time to get dress and with my mom and Melissa’s help I put on my wedding dress and Melissa helped with the veil. Melissa is such a perfectionist and she wanted to make sure that I looked perfect and indeed I looked and felt like a princess. I felt like the most beautiful bride in the world. Since I had requested for Melissa to do touch up she met me at the beach and I am so glad that I had her stay for that as my hair/makeup got wet during the ceremony as it had started to rain again. I was really calmed as I knew that Melissa was by my side and was going to take care of everything that I needed. After the ceremony Melissa did the hair/makeup touch up for the pictures. Melissa was by my side up until the Reception and she was amazing from beginning to the end.

Since it rained the day of our wedding the photographer offered to come back a few days later to do the studio in the beach. I was lucky and fortunate enough to have Melissa come back and do my hair/makeup. It’s been a few months since our wedding and I just got the professional pictures and they are gorgeous they look like bridal magazine pictures. I have to give all the credit to Melissa because of her talented skills and eye for hair/makeup I was able to look and feel like a million dollars and this was captured in our wedding pictures.

I know this is a long review but I wanted to share my full experience with Edgar and Melissa at MVP Hair and Makeup Artistry. If you are a bride like I was I will highly suggest that you book the Trial Hair/Makeup and the additional touch ups. Yes it is more money but at the end the result it’s so worth it you can’t really put any price on it. I am so glad that I came across MVP and I highly recommend them to any future bride. I tell my husband I wish we could get married again as I will definitely book Melissa without any hesitations. If you are looking for the best and most talented Hair/Makeup Artist do not look any further Melissa is your girl.

My wedding was July 30, 2011 at the El Dorado Royale in Riviera Maya, Mexico. Let me start by saying I am from Miami and, even though this is going to sound terrible, I am a bit vain. I was terrified about choosing someone to do my hair and makeup without ever having a trial. I found MVP and requested some pricing. Since I am a destination wedding planner that works quite often with wedding coordinators in Mexico, I wasn't expecting a response for a couple of days. Boy was I wrong! Edgar emailed me back with pricing almost immediately. He was amazing with responding to all of my questions so quickly. He made me feel very comfortable and I decided I would book with them.

As amazing as Edgar is, the true test is whether or not I was going to be happy with Melissa's work. I was blown away. I have had my hair and makeup done tons and tons of times so I told myself to not judge too harshly. I was so wrong. Melissa is such an artist. We did one look for my ceremony and one for my reception. She changed both my hair and makeup in less than 15 minutes. I felt so beautiful. I just received my photos and I can't believe what a great job she did.

I didn't want natural makeup. I wanted to look glamorous. My sister, on the other hand, is my complete opposite and Melissa nailed her hair and makeup too. She is able to create any type of look. She, also, did my mom's hair and makeup. I have never seen my mom look as gorgeous as she did at my wedding. People were literally gasping when they saw her.

But there is one thing that I would change if I could. I would make Melissa and Edgar move to Miami so I could use her whenever I need my hair and makeup done!

Melissa and Egar are wonderful! From the beginning, they have been nothing but professional and enjoyable to work with! I found Melissa through other bridal reviews and loved the more "modern" look she gave to brides. I love make-up and fun hair so I knew we would be a perfect match :) Exchanging emails back and forth with both Melissa and Egar was extremely easy and they were very efficient with responding right away or within responsible time.

I met Melissa and Egar in the lobby of our hotel early in the morning the day of my wedding as Melissa was doing my hair and make up as well as my sister's (bridesmaids) hair and make up. They were both on time and ready to go! We sent pictures of what styles we were interested in a couple weeks prior to the wedding so Melissa had an idea of what we wanted and she did an amazing job!! Melissa was an absolute joy to work with and we had so much fun hanging out in the room and chatting before pictures. I would absolutely recommend Melissa to brides out there who are interested in looking gorgeous on their wedding day! Melissa knows what she is doing and has the experience and knowledge to back that up. I can't thank her enough for making me and my sisters look so great....especially in the hot, humid Cancun weather. By the end of the nigh, my hair and make up were still intact and looking great....even after hours of dancing, drinking and celebrating the big day!

I cannot even begin to tell you all what an amazing job Melissa did at our wedding! Her and Edgar were always very quick to respond to any emails or concerns I had. They reassured me when I had worries prior to the wedding (My hair frizzes, what style will work for the heat?? I don't want my bridesmaids waking up early, can we start at 11am and still fit everyone in?) and always worked with me on anything I needed. I never waited even a day for a response, the communication was awesome.
On the day of the wedding, Melissa, Edgar (handles the business aspect, payment, scheduling, etc), and 2 assistants showed up perfectly on time (at the later time I requested, meaning they had to rush to get us all done!) and got to work immediately. They were fun to work with all day, and they worked quickly. Which is awesome since they had to do hair for 8 people and makeup for 5 in just 5 hours!! The results were incredible. Melissa gave each girl a very unique hairstyle that fit the girl's style, personality, and face shape perfectly. For me, I was a little nervous because we weren't able to do a trial and I'd had a bad experience with makeup artist's previously. I don't wear much makeup normally, and I was afraid that by having someone else do it, I wouldn't look like me. But I needn't have worried, as Melissa did a phenomenal job! My hair looked absolutely incredible, even better than I'd imagined, and the makeup was totally natural. She made me look like me, only a much better version of me:) AND Melissa was even awesome enough to come back and do a hair change for me, putting it into an updo for the reception so that it was out of my way for the party to come!

I booked with MVP for my trial and wedding day hair and makeup for my wedding on May 5. Melissa and Edgar are fantastic! From the beginning when asking for a quote they offered quick, friendly service. I researched many other artists in Cancun and their prices are very competitive and they were the quickest to respond to me.

Melissa was very meticulous with my hair and makeup trial and even through there had been a miscommunication about meeting that day causing us to start later (which was no one’s fault) and I was a little frazzled, she and Edgar were totally cool and calmed me. They even had a nice little ipod with music to listen to while she worked, something nice I never would have thought of. When she was done I was extremely happy and even shed a few tears as I was very, very nervous and anxious about getting my face covered well because I don’t have a very good complexion. She left me feeling very confident that I would look good for my wedding day.

The wedding day went even smoother and took less time as we had done the trial (so I would definitely recommend doing a trial!). Everything looked great and she even helped me with buttoning up my dress (she used the pick on one of her combs).

I could not be happier with how I looked on my wedding day and I highly recommend using MVP. Melissa and Edgar are such nice people, they are down to earth and easy to talk to, patient, and Melissa knows her stuff and it shows in her work!! I wish she lived here so I could use her awesome talent more! I haven't found anyone like her yet.

I booked Melissa to do my wedding which was on 23rd March 2011, I found her from doing a google search on Make-up and hair artists in Cancun. From reading reviews on travel websites and from seeing Melissa's web site I emailed asking if she was available for my wedding, when I received a reply back I booked her straight away without meeting her. I got a really good feeling from her web site and the correspondence received and knew I was in good hands. I met Melissa when I had a make-up trial to work out the look for the day, Melissa knew the look I was after and when she had finished my now husband asked if he could marry me then and there. I moved to Cancun to marry my Mexican sweetheart and did not have any family or friends from home to be here with me Melissa was like a surrogate mum and best friend. She helped me keep my nerves in tacked and helped me to enjoy my day and the build up to the big moment, from when she started doing my hair and make-up to when she put my veil on she was extremely professional and a joy to be with.

I am very fussy when having my hair and make-up done and pay attention to the smallest details, all of Melissa's make-up was clean and well kept. I will be using Melissa again for when I do my trash the dress photo-shoot and would highly recommend MVP to any bride getting married in Cancun.

You were so right in the fact of getting my hair and make up done, was a memorable part of the wedding experience, and captured the look in photos forever. I recall when I first contacted you I was nervous about the pricing, as it seemed for the wedding everything was so expensive (weddings are expensive I have learned) however I honestly can say I Melissa was worth all of it! She was outstanding, and I loved the weekend look she created for me! Everything was perfect! My hair was great, my make-up I loved I don’t even know where to start or end but it was all perfect! Having the trial for the rehearsal dinner was a great idea as well and I am so glad I took your advice! I felt so pretty and I was trilled to be dressed up special for the evening. The wedding day I can’t even find the words to express how excited I was. It was a long day, -again you were right, about the 5 hour preparation - but it was so worth it! Even my sister who NEVER does her hair or make up and didn’t even do it for her own wedding loved it! My nieces I was thrilled sat thru getting their hair and done and each one of us I think looked amazing. I just thought Melissa was wonderful! She was on time, had the latest makeup and even was able to add false eyelashes at the last minute when I wanted! (which I loved loved loved). If you have any future brides who are nervous, or would like to speak to someone who worked with Melissa I would be more than happy to talk to them and tell how much I enjoyed the experience. Our wedding day was perfect! - Well we did get a few Mexican rain showers, but overall everyone was in such good spirits it was an amazing night we will of course remember forever! I am glad I looked so good! 
