December 7, 2019 Wedding

I will just start off saying that my wedding ceremony and reception was a success all because Bryce went above and beyond. Anything I needed Bryce made sure I had and I forever grateful. The food was amazing. The bartender did an excellent job! Everything was just beautiful!

This venue was perfect!

Our wedding was magical!! It was all and more that we wanted! The staff is so friendly and helpful!! Bryce is awesome! She went above and beyond to make sure we got exactly what we wanted and needed to make our day special. The day of the wedding I didn’t have to do anything!!! They handled everything for us!! Perfect for a stress free Bride to be!!

Great venue

We met Bryce Johnson at a wedding show and immediately hit it off. I really loved her positive energy. Bryce was very responsive and we discussed the details of our 2 day South Asian wedding and talked over our budget. Bryce was able to work with outr budget and make our dreams a reality of having an outdoor dockside ceremony by the water, which was always a dream of ours. They also allowed us to have outside catering. Very few vendors in the Charlotte area are this accommodating and are as culturally sensitive as Hilton University Place, which we are very grateful for. Before our initial meeting, Bryce also did research on some of the cultural aspects of a Bengali wedding which I truly appreciated. We knew we made the right choice by signing up with Bryce and Hilton University Place and we know we are in great hands for such a momentous day in our lives.

Amazing and stress Free!

From the beginning everyone was super helpful! From giving me a list of their preferred vendors that made everything so easy, to making last minute changes to the guest count they made it happen! Bryce was nice enough to text me pictures as she was setting everything up while I was getting ready, so I was stress free! I couldn’t have asked for anything more!
Food was delicious, 3 hours open bar(with option to add more hours) and the cake was paid for by the Hilton! Super happy with them!

Great service...

So glad I chose this location. I worked Amber and Brittney then Rasheka for my day of. All were personable and professional...always available to answer my questions. They may have just been doing their job but to me they went above and beyond. The day of our wedding went off so beautifully. Ceremony, reception, food, location, were all great. Thank you to all the staff for bringing my vision to life.

Amber Scott was our wedding coordinator and she helped my fiancé and I every step of the way with planning our wedding at the Hilton. She was responded immediately with all our requests and concerns and care up with a solution that made us felt satisfied. She even made my wedding party and guests felt special by accompanying their requests as well. Our wedding turned out amazing and I couldn’t have asked for a better location to have our wedding at.

I just want to share my experience with the Hilton at University Place. I absolutely adore Katelyn. She was an absolute joy to work with,she made sure that everything was the way I wanted it to be. Along with her assistant,I wish I could remember her name but I adore her too. Choosing this venue is a must, it's beautiful and you will not regret it.

I cannot say enough about the Hilton Charlotte University Place! I stayed here a couple of years ago and it was a nice place, great location. But my last stay (August 10-14, 2016) was the absolute best place for my wedding. From the time, I started planning back in May up until the actual day, the process was seamless. My wedding specialist, Katelyn Freeman, was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! She was the ultimate professional and the sweetest person you could ever work with. She made planning the wedding from afar (literally across the country) effortless. Upon checking into the hotel, the staff was super accommodating and made sure everything I needed was taken care of. The hotel was completely sold out and was hosting several events and reunion but the staff was friendly and went out of there way to assist my husband and all of our guests (as if we were the only ones there). The rooms were clean and comfortable and property is well kept. The area itself has lots to offer and is easily accessible to eateries, shopping, and the freeway. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel and location for any and all occasions.

We had a renewal reception at the Hilton. Emily Bowers was the best. She handled everything. The room was great, the food was excellent and the service was awesome. We are planning another party in Jan 16. Emily took care of us again. You could ask for a better wedding planner, her attention to detail was excellent.

We had both our ceremony and reception here and our wedding specialist was Rayna. Rayna was absolutely amazing. She went above and beyond to ensure the days leading up to our wedding and our wedding day special. Everything was wonderful especially the staff. They were very attentive and they made us and our guest feel very special. My husband gave Rayna a run for her money with all the many questions and different request but she handled it effortlessly and went above and beyond to ensure we got everything we wanted. The food and drinks were a little pricey, but it was well worth it with the way the staff treated us and our guests. They made accommodations to fit us and what we were looking for and our expectations were exceeded!!! rayna you are the bomb girl!!!

Emily was my planner and totally helped me create a stunning event that far exceeded my expectations!! I can't thank her enough for all her hard work to make our day magical! Ms. Emily Bowers is one of the most dedicated wedding specialist. I got married on July 4 at the Hilton University and I am so glad I chose that venue and that she assisted me all the way. She was the most pleasant, outgoing and professional people I have come across. I do not live in the area so I did have to call or email to get a lot of items accomplished her quality of service and responsiveness was above and beyond everything I could have asked for. The catering was fantastic. I was very nervous because I have heard horror stories of hotel food not being so good. The Charlotte Hilton is definitely not one of those places everything they did for me and my husband was more than words could express. Will definitely recommend them for any function.

Where do I even begin! The Hilton was beyond the perfect location for our Wedding this May! Working with Rayna (the wedding coordinator) was a blast! She was very friendly, down to Earth, and genuinely cared about our ideas and expectations. She not only listened but she delivered our dream wedding and the day flowed like only one couple could hope for! While Rayna was by far our favorite and she delivered such an amazing experience, she did not do it all on her own. The staff working at the Hilton also were encountered on multiple occasions. From the excellent customer service at the desk upon check in, to the staff that assisted during our dinner, everyone delivered a friendly smile and worked to make even the small things, very enjoyable. Let's not forget about the amazing kitchen staff who prepared our delicious dinner. Our guests are still raving about the amazing food!! Also, the night of our wedding we were given a complimentary room for the night. The room was very spacious, clean, and the king size bed was very comfortable! We were so impressed by how the Hilton and it's staff made such a huge positive impact on a day that we will never forget!! My partner and I are very glad we made the decision to trust the staff at the Hilton and would highly recommend it for a venue or just a night out of town! Thank you guys for all you did for us!

We could not have picked a better venue for the wedding and the reception. We viewed a lot of venues before coming here. Once we came here, we knew this was the place. The wedding was outside by the water. Day turned out beautiful for an outside wedding. However, there was a backup plan in place. The cocktail hour and reception was awesome!! Everyone raved about the food. The staff at the Hilton Charlotte University Place were outstanding! The rooms were clean and ready when promised. I would highly recommend this place for a wedding!! They made sure that our daughter and our new son-in-law had the wedding of their dreams!Perfect place for a wedding!

My name is Courtney Rios my wedding was September 6th 2014. It wasn't just the greatest day of my life because I married my best friend but because Emily Bowers and her staff were absolutely amazing. Emily worked hard to make sure everything that I wanted was just perfect. Even though she had many brides to tend to she made me feel like I was the only one. Emily and her staff are top notch, my ceremony was on the deck lake front it was breath taking and my reception was the prefect fit for me and my guests, so romantic.

We planned my sister in law's wedding ceremony and reception at this location. We worked with Emily Bowers and have nothing but excellent reviews for her. She worked with every little request which the bride and groom had for their special night. She personally loves weddings and makes it a point to suggest many things that we may not even think of ourselves and she tries to work with you to keep things as elegant yet cost effective as you need it to be. The wedding turned to be beautiful and everything was done on point and on time. Thanks Emily!!!

We changed our wedding venue to the Hilton, right on the water, just 3 days before the wedding. Their wedding planner worked with us extensively to ensure this venue could work for us.

They were great hosts for our wedding. If you haven't been there you should just go and look, the outdoor wedding venue is beautiful. In addition to that their wooden structure on the deck is built to handle just about anything you can imagine, including lanterns, curtains or ribbons. They were also accommodating with chairs and a table for us to use.

They made the experience painless and I believe because of their efforts our wedding was significantly better than it would have been at our previous venue.

Emily Bowers was my husband and I Wedding Specialist and was simply FABULOUS!!!! Initially, we were leaning towards an uptown venue but happened to find out about Hilton Charlotte University/Lakeview Patio venue. Our SPECIAL day was everything and MORE. Emily was always available and very professional. She has a great sense of humor and what I like most is she was never pushy. If you're looking for a beautiful venue, great food, nice luxury hotel accomodations then the Hilton is your venue. I promise you will be glad that you made the choice. Ms. Emily Bowers was my wedding coordinator, or shall I say angel. She was always willing to answer the thousands of questions I had and she worked well with all of my outside vendors, to ensure my day went of without a hitch. Even though I am well aware that she does 100's of wedding a year, she made sure that when it was our turn it was all about us. Not to mention the wonderful staff they were very courteous, one ex. of this was: one of the wait staff noticed that I was to nervous to eat my food so he wrapped it up for me. The Hilton made our day exactly what it was supposed to be....unforgettable.

I don't know what we would have done without her! The food for the reception and rehearsal dinner was delicious! The event space was perfect and the water out back made for some beautiful pictures. The Hilton hosted my hotel accommodations and reception for my wedding. My contact, Emily, made my entire process smooth and enjoyable. Everyone was professional and courteous at every encounter. I told Emily my vision and she truly helped me to make it a reality. Once I told her my vendors she coordinated the set up time and showing them where everything was supposed to go. The day of my wedding was extremely stress free for me and I know I owe that to Emily. FYI the food was absolutely delicious! I highly recommend the Hilton for any occasion.

Hilton provided my reception room, which was spacious and beautiful. Lakeview was our room, it provided a view of the lake and had an outdoor space with a waterfall, great for pictures. They catered the food and drinks. Our guests were completely satisfied with the food. Which I still hear about to this day! Emily was my wedding specialist. She was a pleasure to work with, and made my vision come to fruition.

My husband and I just got married at the Hilton in Charlotte University Place and it was amazing! We worked with Emily Bowers and she was fabulous! She kept clear and constant communication with me throughout the entire planning process, was always very quick to respond to my emails/calls and questions, bent over backwards for any small request I threw her way, and even stayed the entire evening to ensure a smooth successful reception for me, my new husband, and our guests. She has a wonderfully calm personality and a lot of experience to help plan a wonderful event. On top of that, the venue was beautiful and all of our guests raved about the quality of service, food, and convenience a hotel wedding/reception provides. I absolutely would recommend the Hilton and more importantly, Emily! Thank you for such a wonderful event!!!

We were Married on 4/19/2014 at the Hilton University Charlotte, NC.
Emily B, was our wedding planner and she was Great! Even-though we didn't start out with Emily- She finished up wonderfully. Everything that was promised was delivered and more. The food was spot on. (Excellent) Our guest said everything was beautiful and love loved the dinner menu . The dining room service was on point and we were very happy with the Hilton and their staff. Emily was excellent, We cant say enough good words about her. Emily really went above and beyond.
Also the dining room staff was also excellent .Thank You all for making our day a day to remember. I am highly recommending the Hilton and Emily B.,

Emily Bowers and the staff at the Hilton University went above and beyond to make our day the best day that it could have possibly been. There was no task too big or too small for them. We had a large wedding party and accommodations were made to ensure everyone was comfortable and the food was hot and delicious! We couldn't have imagined our day any more perfect!

The wedding coordinator is amazing. I was so happy we had her throughout planning out wedding. It made stressful times less stressful. The staff at the Hilton was always so happy and pleasant and made me comfortable with having all my family and friends coming there. I was never worried that they would have bad service while staying there. The food was also awesome during the reception and at breakfast in the mornings.

The hotel was amazing! The staff allowed me to come as much as I wanted to (at it was alot) look around, visit at different times of day etc. My family and friends stayed at the hotel and the accomocations were beautiful!

Our event was so beautiful that my husband said that we should do it again in 10 year and use the this Hilton again!

I couldnt have been more pleased with the Hotel, the staff, the food and drinks. Everything was amazing!

My husband and I had a large wedding of 150 guests. We had our reception in the Hilton's grand ballroom, which was beautiful and plenty of space. We worked with Emily Bowers for every need, and she made my life easy!! She was seriously the one vendor I didn't have to worry about and we clicked immediately! Throughout the whole process, Emily and everyone at the Hilton were SO accommodating...even when I had to keep changing our "final" head count several times! We got soooo many compliments about how beautiful everything was and the food was spectacular!!! We choose the Diamond Package, with Sliced Sirloin and Grilled salmon and it was delicious and perfectly prepared. We even changed some of the recipe to make it more to our liking and they provided different sauces on every table to guests to use with their food. The Hilton has different packages, but they are completely customizeable! I asked if we could sample the food before we signed any contract, which I thought was very important before you pay a big down payment and sign a contract! The Hilton provided us with a complimentary 5 course dinner in their Lakeside restauraunt which has the same chef as the wedding reception catering. It was to die for, and a fun night out for us! I will forever and always recommend anyone to use the Hilton as their wedding reception site!! Thank you Emily for making our big day fabulous!

Our experience was a wonderful. We had some personal things we had to deal before our wedding. Melissa and her staff helped us quickly and professionally. We got to customize our own menu and made many changes to it up the way to the day off the wedding. The food by the way was excellent. Our set up was exactly how I dreamed it would be. It was such a great experience being able to look at our beautiful surroundings and have the lake as our backdrop. I just want to thank you all again for making our day super special for us. We will never forget you all nor the memories we created.. Thank you .

The Hilton's staff was so amazing (Emily B.)! Anytime I needed to meet or anything that I may have needed they made sure it happened and was in a timely manner. My wedding day ran so smoothly and staff had everything in order. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who needs a nice venue for ceremony and reception. I couldn't have asked for a better place! Staff was very friendly and cooperative.

The Hilton did and superb job on making my wedding and reception An Affair to Remember. I had a wonderful experience with the Hilton University Place as our ceremony and reception site. We were married on the dock by the lake outside which was beautiful. We then had our reception inside the hotel. I liked it because everything was right there- even where we slept. This was great for our guests who were mainly from out of town. The ladies at the Hilton were wonderful about helping with everything that we needed. I didn't feel I had anything to worry about the day of the wedding. I would highly recommend their services for your big day!

Our wedding was about a month ago and Katelyn Freeman was our wedding
specialist at Hilton Charlotte University Place. My now wife and I
started on our wedding planning journey a year ago and we really
couldn't have asked for a better person to coordinate with for our
wedding than Katelyn! Not only did Katelyn help us with what seems
like a million questions and requests while we planned for our wedding
from out-of-state, she and her team exceeded our expectations as they

The Hilton Charlotte University Place was a great venue for our wedding! Emily's professionalism, patience, quickness to respond and thoroughness was absolutely helpful during our year of planning! I would recommend the Hilton Charlotte University Place to any couple because of it being a one-stop shop and due to the many recent upgrades at the location. Although it rained and we had to go with our Plan B, the wedding ceremony was still amazingly beautiful. I had my wedding here and it was perfect. All the staff at the Hilton were so pleasant and wonderful to work with and to all my guests. Our wedding specialist was Rayna, after the person we initially met with and signed the contract with had left. The change in our contacts made us nervous, so we immediately scheduled a meeting to discuss everything with Rayna. She made us feel much better and took care of all our needs and even special requests. She was so responsive by mail or phone and always willing to go the extra mike to help with something. Overall, my family and I were so happy our wedding was at the Hilton University Place. The ceremony on the dock and reception in the ballroom were both so beautiful and everyone had a blast. I also kept hearing how delicious the food was all night. It was also the perfect venue for out of town guests because there is so much to do within walking distance. We got so much positive feedback from the guests staying there and even myself and our wedding parties stayed there for a couple nights and they were so accommodating to everything we needed. We also ended up having our rehearsal dinner there and breakfast as well. It was nice everything all in one place. Everyone at the Hilton were so awesome and they even decorated our room for the wedding night and packed up all our stuff for us. That weekend couldn't have gone any better and the price is right!

All my husband and I wanted was to be married by the water with a nice view and an awesome place for our family and friends to celebrate (PARTY) afterwards. The Hilton gave us all that and more.The wedding packages offered made things so easy to figure out and it was a huge bonus for us to not have to find a separate catering company....the food offered by the Hilton is amazing by the way. You have to try the Salmon according to EVERYONE who attended our wedding. Another thing we found extremely helpful, as long as you don't mind some limitations, is that the cake was built into our package price as long as we went with one of a few select bakers (the options are good ones!). This not only gave us suggestions on who to go with for the cake, but also eliminated a separate bill which is nice when you have so many vendors to work with.
Now for the staff....We had the absolute pleasure of working with Katelyn throughout the process, who truly became more of a friend than anything before it was all over. She met with us several times, upon our request, to discuss and sometimes re-discuss things to make sure we were comfortable with all that we were getting and she always had great suggestions where we were coming up short with ideas. On the other hand, she never made us feel silly or like we were asking for too much when we shared our ideas of what we wanted with her, which some more opinionated vendors/coordinators tend to do. She also SUPER helpful the day of. While we had a couple very minor hiccups with our group reservation, Katelyn and the reservation manager (Dylan) were both very quick to react and at the end of the day were willing and able to accommodate all of our needs. The guests ended up loving the hotel including its accommodations as well as all the shops and eateries close by.
We HIGHLY recommend the Hilton as your wedding venue! We feel like we got everything we paid for and more. ALL of the staff was so delightful and made us feel so special! D&A

The Hilton University was very flexible and understanding of our needs and wants. Emily Bowers was truly AMAZING! She is so professional and has an easy comfortable attitude. Any questions or request we asked for were always answered! We were in the Lakeview room and patio for 120 guest and the space was perfect! Our wedding day was perfect! The Hilton went above and beyond our expectations for our reception. From the very beginning of planning our reception with our coordinator (Jenna/Kelly) they have shown flexibility and have been able to accommodate our wants and needs. There were many things that I wanted to change with the setup and with the package and it was not a problem for the Hilton. Anytime I had a concern, Kelly was very responsive and made sure she got back to me as soon as possible. There were many last minute changes and the Hilton handled them with ease. Kelly ensured that every detail was taken care of and was even at our reception to make sure we were happy with everything. The staff were awesome and were truly friendly and helpful to our guests. We had two bartenders, one of them more pleasant than the other, but both were good. The price is expensive but for everything you get in a package and the service, its well worth spending the money. Consider the Hilton for your event, and if it is anything like the service I received for my reception, you will not be disappointed!

The Hilton provided a wonderful reception for us. The only negative was we did not get to see our reception room before we arrived with the guests. The layout of the room and table placement was not like we had agreed upon. But for the entire reception that was the only negative.

I used The Hilton just for my reception. Fontella was the person that handled everything. Everything was perfect, it was like we were the only people there that night. I would recommend The Hilton-University to anyone, and ask for Fontella

After their recent renovations the Hilton Charlotte University Place is one of the nicest placesto hold a reception. They have all inclusive packages that are really worth the price paid. They are decorated nicely and compliment all the wedding colors. They have a lot of options and nice to work with. Their dock is beautiful on a nice day and all my wedding pictures were wonderful out there!

Amazing job

Kim at Hilton was an amazing bridal staff member. Due to Covid I had to reschedule 3 times for my wedding. Kim was assigned to my wedding due to my original coordinator leaving. She started from scratch and did a better job than my previous bridal coordinator. Kim was attentive and very flexible when it came to the menu and set up of my wedding. Kim even let us set up a day before the wedding due to a issue with my bakery that was doing my cake. She had everything ready for us and even helped in places she didn't have to. The only complaint that my family has is that they forgot to serve the coffee with the cake at the end of the night and they forgot to cut and serve the wedding cake to the bridal party. Overall they did amazing job and the entire staff on of the day of the wedding was attentive and went above and beyond what they had to do. The staff was even as nice to box up leftovers from our reception and put it in our complimentary hotel room which ended up being the presidential suite which is more than what we expected from the hotel. If I could get married again I would do it here.

Good but not Great

Overall my experience was good. My wedding specialist was very professional and always willing to assist. The food was phenomenal and the bartender was very friendly and professional.

I was glad my wedding was moved indoors because of the weather. A wine festival was at the same time as my wedding and it was extremely loud, while taking pictures.

I did experience a few issues. After thinking the wedding was paid in full, I was informed I owed more money. I paid it. Thinking once again the wedding was paid in full, I was told I owed more money a week before the wedding. This was no fault of my current wedding specialist but the former one. Additionally, the air conditioner went out during my reception and no one ever came to repair. We had to open the door. Many of my guest left early.

It is our policy to block-out dates in our system when we become aware of events that may be disruptive to our outdoor events, such as weddings. The University Wine Festival date was unfortunately not announced until mid-February. We were able to let you know as soon as we knew and brainstorm solutions, but typically these big events are publicized way in advanced and we are able to block-out that date. I am so sorry that this was not the case with your event. We work as closely as possible with our University community and strive high to know of these events beforehand.

If I could do my wedding again, I would choose the exact same place. I loved Rayna. She seemed more like a friend than the person that organized my wedding reception. She recommended a great decorator, Myrtle Williams of Simply Unique Designs! Everything was done beautifully. The hotel works well with Myrtle or vice versa. I don't know what happened behind the scenes. All I gave them was my vision and when I walked

My daughter's reception was at the Hilton University Place in the University ballroom. We worked with Emily Bowers who was such a sweet and enthusiastic event coordinator. The food that the chef customized to our tastes received numerous compliments. Everything was not perfect, as no major event with as many variables as a wedding has is perfect; what is important, however, is how the staff responded to any hiccups that arose. They were courteous, professional and stepped right up to correct everything in such a smooth manor that the bride and guests were never aware. My daughter and her guests were happy with a perfect evening.

Emily Bowers and her team are the best in the business. My wedding ceremony and reception was beautiful.! My husband and I were very pleased with all the special treatment and service. Melissa Ewert and staff did an amazing job with our wedding. Everyone we encountered with the hotel was so polite, accommodating and a pleasure to work with. We had several out of town guests stay at the hotel as well and everyone had only great things to say about the hotel. Our wedding was exactly what we wanted and overall phenomenal.

Very nice place! We had our wedding ceremony outside on the dock. It rained just at the start of the wedding but I was determined to have my wedding outside; after all I paid for it and the flowers! Needless to say, after the wait for the rain to disappear, I had to deal with some very rude guests of the hotel! They were hanging over the balcony of the restaurant with their beer laughing and talking very loudly. Now, for what it costs to have your wedding at the Hilton you would think that this would be the least of your worries, but whatever right? Anyway, other than that everything else was great. Fontella (wedding coordinator) at the Hilton was awesome to work with. I would definitely recommend the Hilton to a future bride! The potential for a fantastic wedding is there!!

I used the Hilton for my ceremony and reception location. It was beautiful inside and out. We had our ceremony outside on the dock. It was perfect because the sun went down on the other side so at 6pm there was the perfect amount of shade of where all of the guests were. The reception was a blast. The food was delicious and there was a ton of it. They do all inclusive packages that are pretty affordable for a wedding. I wanted to be some where classy and something people would remember and it definitely was. I had a few problems with miscommunication and some things kind of fell through the cracks on wedding day, but no big event can go off without a few problems. Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel and their services to any bride.

Nice people, not very detail oriented

Good experience overall. Communication could have been a lot better, and there were some small details that could have been executed better (liquor/beer type, entree on the buffet line was wrong, etc). Our wedding planner had to do a lot of heavy lifting on the day of. Good venue if you have extra support from an outside wedding coordinator. We would recommend working with Ivy from the Silk Veil.

I couldn't have been happier with the service and expertise of my wedding consultant Katelyn Freeman! She was always there for me, through my worries and frustrations, she guided me, consoled me, made me laugh and I was so pleased with the help she provided. This place made for such a beautiful wedding. The coordinators are amazing and so helpful. The concierge was very nice and the front desk (sheila) was so helpful. The only suggestion I would have is to make sure you take pictures of any items you bring of your own and make sure to provide an Itemized list of your things. So if you have beads take a picture and count every last bead. The breakdown crew was not that helpful but Overall I highly recommend this place.

No arrangements were made to accommodate the wedding party during the cocktail hour. Informed us that since we did not have the ceremony at the hotel they do not provide a room for the wedding party. Problem is, they told us this after we arrive at the hotel on the wedding day. Not Cool!!!

We held the reception here. It has great places for photo opportunities. The ballroom and food were great. However, the attendants that were assigned did not fulfill their duties. The mother of the bride had to refill the candy bar and pay the florists double because The Hilton lost some centerpieces. The bride and groom were not taken to their suite, the bar attendants were rude, and things were getting packed up while people were eating with a few more hours to go.

Emily was great. Very upsetting interactions with the other staff leading up to wedding, yet too late for any refund. Inappropriate staff behavior was addressed I'd hope.

Wasn’t the worst

Wasn’t the worst it was very rough at first and Was not the best experience bin the beginning heck or the middle they tried to make it up but it was just too much it wasn’t smooth it didn’t make it pleasant it’s move for my husband and I they messed up the rules for the bridal party one of the staff is really rude but George was OK and so was Kimberly wasn’t as clean for the amount that they was charging
