While it is very sad that this bride's mother passed away so soon after her wedding, I was never given any updates on her condition from the bride. When I spoke to her shortly after the wedding she had mentioned her mother was about to have a surgery before flying back home. It was a few months later that I heard from the photographer that her mother had passed away. Her contract clearly states that our films take 6-8 months to complete and she signed it, however given her circumstances, had she asked for us to get it sooner and had actually keep us informed on her mothers condition, we would have made sure it was pushed up in the editing cue.
As for the film being 27 minutes long, the entire day only consisted of a 5 minute vow renewal, no cocktail hour, no toasts, no cake cutting, no garter and bouquet, no last dance or exit. I was actually quite impressed we were able to make it as long as it was given how little actually happened the whole night.
Once the final DVD was given to the bride, her comment back to us was that it was terrible and she wanted a full refund. It was obvious to us at that point she couldn't afford us in the first place and was only interested in trying to get her money back while keeping the movie. If she was really unhappy with her edit, I would think she would have asked it we could have made it longer or changed whatever she was unhappy with. Instead she left us negative reviews on a film that we have been asked to submit for cinematography award and to be featured on various wedding sites. We believe our work speaks for itself and we ask that you be the judge.
