We weren't interested in having our August wedding at a hotel. We wanted an old-fashioned "garden party" atmosphere. The 4 other historical home venues we toured weren't right -- undesirable neighborhood, shabby interior, road noise, small yard, yard only (no indoor space), no bathrooms, etc. The Aldrich House was truly the perfect setting. The house is elegant & classy without being over-the-top. The ballroom is beautiful, with fireplace, hardwood floor, the old Providence Theater Curtain as a backdrop, & 4 huge sets of french doors that open onto the lawn. We put the bar in the ballroom & also had dancing (& the DJ) in there. For dinner, we set up a tent just outside the ballroom. Tables & chairs are included with the rental. We didn’t use the chairs, which were mostly a utilitarian folding style. We set up various lawn games.
Renata Luongo, who handles the rental, is extremely professional, knowledgeable, & helpful. She promptly responded to emails & calls. She is also very flexible, allowing us additional time for set-up -- & also allowed us to arrange flowers at the venue the day before. She kept on top of the tent rental company when they didn’t show on time. We felt like we were in excellent hands with Renata!
The 2 bathrooms were enough for our 75 guests. There is a full kitchen & 3 other rooms besides the ballroom that you can use. The yard is large & nicely landscaped with shade all around the edges. The old residential neighborhood (near Brown U.) is beautiful & quiet. There is only street parking for guests, which I was told shouldn't be a problem on weekends. But because I was nervous about it, I had the City of Providence post "special event parking" signs ($80, a great deal for my peace of mind!).
If we had to do it again, we'd still have our wedding at the Aldrich House! It was a terrific day. So many guests told us what a really fun wedding it was -- everyone seemed to truly enjoy the atmosphere. We highly recommend the Aldrich House!!

My Husband and I wanted a unique wedding venue that would represent the city that we love. The Aldrich House could not have been a better fit for us. It completely fit our theme and was so unlike any other wedding venue we had seen. The outdoor space was perfect for our summer wedding. The landscaping was kept up very nicely. Renata was wonderful, and has so much valueable information. She was so well organized and very nice to deal with. This venue helped to make our wedding so special.

After a considerable search for a mid-sized venue with character in Providence, my husband and I chose the Aldrich House to serve as both our wedding ceremony and reception site. The Aldrich House is unique in offering the convenience of an urban location very close to downtown on a property large enough to feel expansive, even with 150 guests. We held cocktail hour in the House's charming ballroom and put up a large tent in the yard to accommodate our guests for dinner. The grounds are well cared for and while the space itself is historic, it is not overwhelmingly styled as such, adding to the flexibility of the venue, which has very few restrictions for its use. For us it provided the perfect platform from which to build a wedding exactly to our taste- a combination of casual and formal, indoor and outdoor. At night the space is very romantic and our guests loved being able to roam the grounds and move in and out of the different spaces on the first floor. We are so happy we chose it! All three staff members assigned to our event were friendly and helpful and Renata, the site manager, was a complete pleasure to work with throughout the entire process. She was always very responsive and helpful, addressing all of our questions and concerns as quickly as they were raised. We couldn't have asked for a more pleasant experience!

The Aldrich House was a wonderful venue for both my wedding ceremony and reception. Beautiful grounds, interesting interior with historic charm. My guests loved it! Renata was great to work with and so helpful. I would highly recommend this venue!

The Aldrich House was THE PERFECT reception venue for us. We found it after a bad experience with another wedding venue. From the beginning, Renata was very easy to work with, which helped turn wedding planning from a stressful to an enjoyable experience. Renata is always available to answer any questions or issues, no matter how small. She responds to emails very, very quickly...even when she is on vacation! Renata also encouraged me to join the Rhode Island Historical Society for a nominal fee, so I could receive a significant discount on the rental fee at the Aldrich House (not to mention discounts at other historical society venues, such as the Newport Cliff Walk and many museums throughout Rhode Island). Despite such a great deal, the Aldrich House had very few rules and basically let us do whatever we wanted with the space, including installing a custom outdoor parque floor in the backyard for our tent. We were also able to choose any vendor we wanted to work with as there was no restrictive "preferred vendors" list. Renata was very kind, flexible and accommodating to all of my vendors, and God knows I threw enough at her! In addition, the Aldrich House is a gorgeous historical mansion, impeccably and beautifully decorated and landscaped by Renata and the rest of the staff. It is every bit as comparable as the mansions in Newport, for a fraction of the price. My 140 guests were so impressed by not only the setting, but by what I was able to do at the house. The day of the wedding, the Aldrich House provided a staff of 3-4 to make sure everything went off without a hitch. The day was perfect and wonderful in every way possible thanks to everyone at the Aldrich House.

Get married at the Aldrich house if you can. It's beautiful, convenient, easy, inexpensive. Did I say beautiful? I meant inside and outside the house. It would be hard to have a lawn any more expansive without actually loosing wedding guests. There's an enormous, airy dining room, a salon for a bar and cocktails, a great kitchen with lots of vases, a place to change upstairs, a balcony to put the band on, and most importantly of all, an enormously caring, flexible and helpful staff. We gave the Aldrich house 2 weeks notice, almost doubled the number of guests, had more than one musician show up, started late (of course), had a mob of people who needed to change into complex costumes. You name it, it happened-but the staff was calm and collected and everything went off without a hitch. Well, there was ONE hitch... :)

Our September wedding was perfect. Our guests loved the Aldrich House, inside and out! The yard was in full bloom, the grass was healthy and green. The inside of the house leaves so many options to personalize your party. There are interesting places for guests to mingle and fantasize about a bygone era. It is historical and elegant with just the right amount of formality.

The staff was always professional, returning all calls immediately. Renata could not have done enough to make my husband happy with his demands! The service was individualized, thorough, and efficient.

We had a wonderful time, our guests had a wonderful time and we were completely satisfied with The Aldrich House!

The Aldrich House was a great value for our money! The staff was wonderful. We had a difficult time scheduling a time for my parents to see the venue because the staff was not always at the site.
