Rutland Beard Florist was established in 1923 by Mr. and Mrs. Rutland Beard of Govans. The Beards started their operation in what was then the country - Catonsville, Maryland - where it remains as the main store today.

In 1988, Rutland Beard Florist expanded into Ruxton, where it is owned and operated by Rutland Beard's grandson Rut.
