About

My passion for photography has brought me from New Mexico to Philadelphia. I fell in love with the change of seasons, the city, and its people.


Photography has always been a part of my life. My family has a rich history of photographers; my grandfather and great grandfather were amazing photo hobbyists. I have some great photographs from my family dating back to the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. It’s amazing to see a photograph of what your mother looked like on her wedding day, when she was pregnant with you and how young she was, because sometimes we forget. I was photographed constantly as a child and having those pictures today is priceless. Photography is history. The images you make today will be passed down for generations. I love bringing that Joy to others.

I approach photography with a documentary mindset. I concentrate on light, perspective, composition and expression. I make art that will remain with a family for generations.

My husband and I are delighted to have hired Joy to handle both our engagement photos, as well as, our wedding day. Joy is a beautiful person and an extremely talented photographer. She has an amazing eye, captures her subjects true essence and produces amazing photos! I look forward to working with Joy again in the future!

I've known Joy since college, and besides being an amazing photographer, she is a really wonderful and fun person. When our wedding was finally scheduled, she was the first person I called to be a part of my special day. She is so uniquely talented as is the people she brings along with her. We all had so much fun taking pictures that day and I know they will come out better than I can ever imagine!

Wow...Joy is beyond amazing to work with. I had every vendor around me saying what a talented photographer we chose! She came all the way to Washington, DC for our wedding and we are so happy we got to work with Joy and Pete. Her ideas were unique and really fun! Her personality makes you feel comfortable and confident that your pictures are going to be amazing. She is worth every penny and is truly the best of the best! Thanks, JOY!

Joy was an absolute pleasure to work with from the very beginning, when we met at her studio to learn more about her work, to the engagement shoot, to the wedding itself of course -- and all of our interactions and communications in between were easy and enjoyable. We just got our photos and not only are there seemingly endless proofs of beautiful candids and creative shots, there is also a fabulous blog post complete with two slideshows that we continue to watch back to back. But most importantly, Joy was super relaxed, fun, and friendly to all of our guests while managing to capture every important moment of the wedding. Our pictures really reflect the details and the people who made it such a special day, and I'll remember Joy as being part of my wedding, not an outsider who was simply telling people where to stand and taking pictures. She is the best!

Joy was super! She was fantastic to work with... so easy and stress-free! She's really fun and personable, in addition to being able to take some stunning photos. Everyone loved our wedding photos and we were repeatedly told, "Wow, what a difference..." compared to others they've seen recently.
She also proved she really was willing to do just about anything for a great shot when we did our engagement shoot rock climbing :)

Joy is amazing. She flew out to California to shoot our Palm Springs destination wedding. She made us feel so comfortable and at ease during our engagement shoot. We even brought our two little dogs along and got some of the most wonderful pictures of them which is so hard to do! During our wedding she was everywhere at once, doing such a great job capturing the day. Joy stayed focused and calm during all the chaos of rounding up our family for the huge portraits we wanted. She has a great eye and a fun approach to getting some of the most unique shots. The pictures turned out so wonderful, I was so happy to have her as our wedding photographer.

Joy is amazing. Not only is she an extraordinarily talented photographer, but she is so kind and warm and an absolute pleasure to work with! My now husband and I weren't the most comfortable in front of the camera, but she put us at such ease during our engagement shoot (we - and all of our family and friends - loved the photos). She was also awesome at our wedding and we can't wait to see how the photos turn out! A fun thing she does is run a slideshow of some pictures during the reception, so you can get a sneak peek at some of the day's photos! I can't give Joy a higher recommendation. My husband and I really enjoyed working with her.

Joy is amazing. Her work is beautiful and exactly what I wanted for my wedding photographs. Joy took the time to travel from Philadelphia to Nebraska to shoot my wedding and we can't thank her enough for all her hard work. She didn't stop working the whole day and documented every moment for us. I would recommend Joy to ANY bride looking for stunning photos that will impress every guest and family member. These photos will keep the memory of our wonderful day alive.

Joy came out to photograph our Vegas wedding. She was a blast to work with and she made us SO happy with her photos. Being wedding photographers ourselves, we probably aren't the easiest to work with, ha ha. But Joy has a great personality and that creative spark we love...she's a gem for sure.

The best decision that we made for our wedding. We loved Joy's work, which you can check out from her website, and we knewthat we had to hire her after we met her. She is so nice, easy to work with, and makes you feel comfortable when giving you direction. The pictures came out amazing.
