Photography Style
One of the most important aspects of choosing a photographer is relating to their photography style. We prefer to remain out of the spotlight, capturing events as they unfold rather than directing the bride and groom. It is your special day and we consider it an honor to be there capturing it. We take a very natural, documentary style approach in our shooting. Of course, we also include formal portraits in our coverage, as family members often want them.
The best way to learn about our style is to check out our
portfolios and recent weddings (email for links/passwords), read our testimonials, and
get in touch to discuss your wedding details.
Photographer(s)
You have the full, undivided attention of your photographer, as Monica and Judd will each only book one wedding per day. We prefer to cover everything from start to finish. This adds to the storytelling aspect and makes for a more compelling and complete narrative. However, if you want something shorter please
get in touch with us and we can work out a quote.
When you book, please indicate which photographer you prefer, and we will let you know of their availability. We'll often hire a second photographer to both assist and provide additional coverage. We can also work solo for select weddings, although this depends on the number of guests, time frame and location.
Packages
Clients create their own custom packages, starting with creative fees and adding a la carte items (digital negatives, web gallery, etc.). Our packages are generally around $2,000 and up, although we recommend that you get in touch to discuss your wedding for a specific quote. Please
email us for our price list and for information about destination weddings.
Engagement Sessions
We do offer engagement sessions, in the form of casual on-location portraits, in keeping with our journalistic style. This is a great way to get to know each other before the wedding day and to allow time for intimate portraits without feeling rushed.
Travel
We love to travel! We cover weddings throughout New England, the United States and beyond. Travel is free for locations within 100 miles of Portland, Maine and Burlington, Vermont. Please
contact us with your wedding location for specific travel quotes.
Albums
We work with Wild Magnolia Design, an album company using exclusively sustainable and environmentally friendly materials, for most of our albums. Other options are available; please
contact us to discuss your preferences and narrow down choices.
Digital Negatives
When you purchase digital negatives, you receive the entire wedding on DVD, kept in a beautiful handmade archival DVD album of your fabric color and ribbon choice. The price tag includes the right to print and share your photos for personal use as many times as you wish, as specified in our contract.
Web Gallery
The web gallery contains 400-500 retouched selects from your wedding day, displayed in a password-protected gallery. We print and hand out cards with the gallery address and password to your guests during the wedding, or we can give them to you before the wedding for distribution as you see fit. Web gallery samples are available for viewing.
Prints
Prints are available via the web gallery. A wide variety of sizes and papers are available, from wallet size luster prints to large canvas hangings. Please
contact us to view samples.
Delivery
Your web gallery will be available for viewing within 1-2 weeks of the wedding (a date will be specified on the cards we hand out to your guests). The digital negatives are shipped in 4-6 weeks depending on the time of the year, but usually sooner rather than later. If you have ordered an album, it will first be proofed by us, then sent with or shortly after the digital negatives.
Deposits and Payment
A 25% nonrefundable retainer is due upon signing of the contract, with the remainder due before your wedding day. Checks and Paypal are both accepted.
Booking
The best way to reach us is by email, but you can call us anytime as well. We are also available for in-person meetings so that you can view samples of our albums and prints. As much as we'd love to, we cannot verbally hold dates and booking is on a first come, first serve basis. A 25% retainer and signed agreement will hold your date.
