Everyone at Athena Salon and Spa were great! They provided great hair styles and makeup for me and my bridesmaids. We were a little late, but they still got us out on time. Sara did my bridal updo and she did a phenomenal job. And there are also less expensive than a lot of other beauty salons in the area.

I got my hair done with Cody Traweek at Athena. She was very flexible about what I wanted to do with my hair. I brought in a few photos and she put her own creative touch on it. We did one practice run and decided to adjust it a little for the big day. On my wedding day, the salon allowed us to bring snacks and beverages and a few of my attendents just came to hang around and keep me feeling good. The salon is very inviting with a friendly atmosphere. I got lots of compliments on my hair, and everyone was impressed by how intricate it was! Cody has a lot of skill!

We are stationed overseas, but I was planning a small wedding with family and close friends back home in Tallahassee. I did some research online and found that Athena Salon & Spa was affordable, yet looked to offer great service. I called Monday trying to get an appointment for an updo, makeup, and waxing for that Saturday. The receptionist was really great, working me into what sounded like a busy day.

I arrived and Sarah told me that she would be doing my waxing and would try to do my makeup. She informed me that the salon was chosen as one of the top 10 in Tallahassee and they were competing in a model makeover competition for that evening, so they had models in all day doing hair and makeup, which is why it was hard for me to get in. I told her that I really appreciate them being able to work me into their day and explained that I was getting married that evening. She was very nice, but the waxing was really terrible. My underarms were burned and it really was a terrible job. My dress was strapless, so you can imagine how embarrassing that was for me that evening. My upper list ended up blistering the next few days. She also ended up being able to do my makeup for me, but I would recommend the salon invest in more comfortable chairs... I sat on a wicket chair with no arm rests for nearly an hour. Definitely not the relaxing time I was hoping for. I was not happy with my makeup; later that afternoon, a friend fixed it up for me. Not something I wanted to have to go through after paying $60.

I then waited an hour for my stylist to come into work. I wasn't offered anything to drink, however, there was wifi available which helped with the wait. My stylist was Shontelle. By the time she got there, I was pretty annoyed, but I am really glad that I got her. She did a fantastic job on my hair, was super helpful, and really took her time to make my hair look exactly how I had wanted. She really was so great and she's the only reason I'm giving the rating to them that I did. Sarah was very nice, but I was really disappointed with her service.

Maybe it's not always like that due to their model competition, but it was such a special day for me.
