Just Said Yes August 2023

Why is the date the anniversary?

Anna, on August 11, 2019 at 8:38 PM Posted in Married Life 0 4
I got to thinking that since we planned so long to have the anniversary on a Saturday, the fact that it is the last Saturday of August is more significant than the date! I feel we should always celebrate the last Saturday of August for our Anniversary! Is anyone with me? My husband thinks that is nuts and complicated! It’s just weird to celebrate say on a Tuesday!

I mean, you can celebrate your anniversary any day of the week. My parents just went out for theirs yesterday and their wedding anniversary is this coming Thursday.

You can celebrate whenever you want. But to me the exact day is more important than the day of the week, same as a birthday. But you can celebrate whenever is most convenient for your schedule.

Look at it this way, if you were born on the first Saturday in July would you celebrate your birthday on the first Saturday in July? You might, just cuz you want to celebrate on the weekend, But your birthday will still be the date, not the day.

You can choose to view the last Saturday in August to be your anniversary. Make it a "floating holiday" like thanksgiving or labor day. Significant days in history are recorded by date not only day of week, week of month, month of year. If only for legal means it has to have the date you were wed...to go down into the history books.
