Who to run rehearsal dinner?

Brittany, on August 25, 2019 at 11:53 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 5
Hey everyone! We’re having a rehearsal dinner, but it’s not at the venue. We are just going to casually go over the ceremony order and how the day will run before dinner. Unfortunately, our Officiant cannot make the rehearsal dinner. Would it be worth it to hire a “wedding day coordinator” to take care of this? Or is it ok to designate a family member or myself to just run through it? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

If you’re not actually rehearsing, I don’t see why you couldn’t just run through the ceremony order yourself.

I'd run through it yourself/have a family member direct everyone. You can write out the order ahead on paper. No biggy.

I 100% think it's worth hiring a day of coordinator (or even a week of or month of coordinator), but not just for the rehearsal. A DOC can help out a lot to make sure everything goes smoothly, from confirming arrival and delivery times, being a point of contact for vendors, and keeping you to your timeline. And they'd likely be available to coordinate the rehearsal. If you don't have someone like that, I think designating a family member or friend would be fine - just ask your officiant to write out a script with the major points.

I ran thru rehearsal and dinner by myself aha. I had a doc but he was only hired for the purpose of reception set up.

I personally think it’s valuable to have a DOC, who doesn’t need to be at the rehearsal but oftentimes are. If you’re going to hire one, ask to see if they’ll be available the week of. If you decide not to, I see no reason why not to get a family member to run the show!
