Where to host a reception for 60 guests

Jasmine, on July 24, 2020 at 11:22 AM Posted in Ohio Planning 0 11
Hello everyone! I am struggling to think of ideas on where to host a wedding reception (in December 2021) for a smaller wedding. We are extremely limited on distance because my hubs grandmother cannot travel well at all. I did find a catering place that also hosts wedding receptions, but their lack of communication worries me. I emailed weeks ago and no response, messaged on Facebook and they said the woman in charge doesn't do social media so she would expect my call the next day. I called 3 times (10am, 2pm, and lastly at 4:15pm) and no answer and no call back. So now idk what to do. Our guests list feels to big for a restaurant, and being winter time outside won't be an option. Anyone have any ideas? Should I give the catering place more of a chance?

ETA: We just plan to do a cocktail hour and dinner, then cake and thank our guests on the way out. No dancing or games.

Some restaurants have private dinning rooms that can accommodate that many guests. You can also look in to local halls/ granges you could rent for the day/weekend. What state/city are you looking in?

Try ezcater.com - this is a 3rd party vendor that reaches out to a variety of restaurants and will deliver 100s of miles. I use them all the time for events all over the USA.

Any restaurants nearby that can host that many people? Eagles Club, Masonic Home, Country Clubs, etc?

Hubbard OH. It's a pretty small city (if it's even considered a city)

The only other thing I can think of are community centers and hotels - they all have meeting or banquet rooms of various sizes for events

I would check the venue tab here on WW. Not knowing where you are located, it is hard to make recommendations.

Unfortunately I'm not from the area we are getting married, and it's a long (over 2 hours) from where I live so I don't know the area too well. I have been using Google and talking to hubs grandmother who reccomended the catering place.

Check out venues at the top. That's how I found mine venue which was 4 hours from where we live. I wasn't familiar with the area either, but reviews were very helpful.

You could try a zoo maybe, our zoo by me has banquets for a smaller amount of people like that in the arctic building where the polar bears and seals are! Or theres an art gallery by me that only hold up to 90 people! I think just be creative with thinking about where might be unique! because yeah you don't need a big ballroom, but some venues may have a smaller room as well that holds less people!
