Where is my Marriage Certificate??

I'm sorry if this has been asked before/is a dumb question. Our officiant mailed in our license and paperwork, and when we got back from our honeymoon we went to pick up our certificate and certified copies. The clerk seemed very confused and said, you should have your original, and just gave us the certified copies. Was this supposed to be mailed to us after the state received our license? I have never seen it and have no idea who to contact to find it...

I think this will depend state to state. Call your officiant to find out what happened maybe.

For California it did get mailed to us after the officiant mailed it in.

In New York we got ours in the mail a couple of weeks after the wedding. If they didn't have anything I would say maybe the officiant didn't mail in in but if you were able to get copies they clearly got it. Did you have the correct address on the license? Our pastor said a lot of people forget to fill in the mailing address and he has to fill it in later so he made sure he had our address correct before the wedding (we did fill it out though).

Yeah our officiant definitely sent everything in correctly and it must have been made since they gave us copies. We filled out our address I think?? I don't remember the form exactly but we followed all of the directions the town clerk gave us and I filled out everything except the witness signatures and officiant section.
