What's Your Dream Home?

The Bride, on June 18, 2019 at 9:06 PM Posted in Married Life 0 44

I am one year away from finishing my second master's degree becoming an assistant principal. My husband and I plan to move to New Jersey and buy our dream home. We'd like 5 bedrooms with at least 3 full bathrooms. One and bathroom for us, two bedrooms and one bathroom for the kids, one bedroom and bathroom for guests, and one room for a home office or prayer area. The home must have a finished basement that my husband can turn into his man-cave and the backyard must be large enough for me to have a she-shed and space for a playground or pool. We need at least a two car garage and a front yard that is large enough so my husband can throw footballs around with our future son while I play double dutch on the sidewalk with our future daughter and her friends. The house must be in a diverse neighborhood and near an amazing school. Ideally, the home would be perfectly positioned in equal distance to my Atlantic City family and his Philly folks.

Enough about me, what's your dream home?

I have to live in Philadelphia because of work, so within that, our dream is this:

A (minimum) 3 bedroom house with extra space for an office and his art studio. I want a large backyard so we have enough room to kids to play and I can create a beautiful hidden reading nook/secret garden for myself. We also need a house with a lot of classic character such as a colonial or victorian-style.

I love the character piece of the home, that is something we hadn't considered. I do prefer a brick exterior if that counts.

We didn't think about it until we started renting our current home. One of our friends mention, "this is exactly the type of place I imagined you two living in." .. It's been a priority ever since!

    Also, brick homes are gorgeous.

We want to go in with a detailed vision so that we get as many of the components that we can within our budget.

As someone who is currently looking at houses in the central NJ area, good luck! I don't know where you are moving from, but NJ is crazy expensive. Further south Jersey is a bit cheaper, but still pretty up there compared to PA or really most states lol.

Unfortunately, we're limited to where we can buy based on our jobs.

My DREAM home would have 4 or 5 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms. I want a large open kitchen with a large island with seating for at least 4, double wall ovens, and all modern stainless steel appliances. I also love the look of gray-washed wideplank hardwood floors throughout. I would like a nice backyard and attached two-car garage, as well as it be located in a good school district. Unfortunately, for now, I'll probably have to settle for a 2 bed 1.5 bath fixer upper with about 1200 square feet of space 😑.

I am originally from New Jersey but I currently live in New York and trust me it's more expensive here. I have family who work in real estate so what we are looking for is definitely out there for reasonable prices.
Save until you can afford what you really want, that's what we're doing.

Your going to LOL!! We’re wanting a Tiny House!!! The reason being is we don’t want to work until we’re in our golden years paying for a house and all the repairs. Plus FH want me to take him across county on a motorcycle (I’ve been to every state except Hawaii on a motorcycle).

We bought a 2 bathroom, 4 bedroom house last month. 25 minutes from my job, 10 minutes from my fiance's. It also has a 2 car garage, and we can fit another 4 in the driveway. It has a deck and a fenced in yard. We're also the only couple of our friends to have a swing set, so that's odd. We are turning the basement into a bit of a man cave/party area. And we're pretty excited that the kitchen was recently remodeled with stainless steel appliances, and hardwood floors throughout.

With our 4 bedrooms we are:
    Using 1 as a bedroom
    Using 1 as a guest room/storage
    My fiance gets an office
    And I get a dressing room/office/wedding planning/2nd guest room

It’s very relaxing to feel the wind in your face and open roads in front of you, sleeping under the night stars. Not things about work or kiddos. No stress!!! I know it’s not for everyone but it’s so fun!!

My ideal home is just open and modern concept. I like light color and lots of natural lighting. I say 3 to 4 bedroom works for us. We plan on just having one kid and husband needs his man-cave while I’ll use the additional room if any for an office/guest room. I want a one story house with large backyard. Half terrace and half open space. And of course dream closet for the master bedroom.
