Have enough money to provide for a child and be settled in our careers

    Goals/bucket list items before?

We own a home but ideally we want to get our forever home beforehand as well, on some acreage.

We don't really have any, but that's because I'm in my mid-30s, so we feel like having a kid IS the bucket list.

There's so many things we want to do, but we think having a kid would just add to the experiences.

We are wanting a few years to together as a married unit first. Do a little travelling, a more comfortable position at our job. Save more money to provide well for our future little ones. All of the adulty things lol now do I know if that's how it will happen, no. But time will tell Smiley heart

Literally so much. My fiance's family is already talking about when we have kids, and I know my mother is incredibly excited to be a grandma, but I currently have no desire to have kids any time soon. I'm only 24 and my fiance is only 22, so we are still incredibly young. However, my mother is 60 and I really would love for her to be a large part of my kids' lives, so I do feel some need not to wait too long.

Before we have kids I want to do a lot more travelling, pursue my hobbies more intensely (namely songwriting and song production), run a half marathon (I'm almost there), get my master's degree, and get more settled into my career (I just graduated college in May, and although I have a great job, it's not where I want to stay long-term). It would also be ideal to have a lot more money saved up.

As someone who has never felt that urge to have kids and who doesn't necessarily enjoy being around kids or doting on babies, I hate when people assume that I'm excited to start a family. I know I want kids one day, and my fiance definitely wants kids, but that day is still at least 3-5 years away in my opinion.

Haha, I was just hoping to get married and not have the remaining 18 months between our scheduled wedding date and my 36th birthday be one where there is a global pandemic that might mean I won't be able to get adequate pre-natal care or that I might be putting myself and my future kid(s) at heightened risk. Our small window for starting our own biological family may just be over at this point.

Our list, which we have completed aside from the very last thing:

Enjoy time together (we have been together for 6 1/2 years and have 6 more months until we are married)

Travel (we have been to a lot of places together)

Be established in our careers/have stable income (we are both established in our careers)

    Have our own house

The last thing is to get married in October Smiley smile
