What to wear for engagement pics?

Well we finally decided to do them (not included in our super affordable package), just shy of 4 months before the wedding. So really they’ll be pictures for us, not STD, invitations, etc. The space is a very small botanical garden, a lake view from the cool looking wall all the way around it. Photographer said it gives us tons of options.
Thats all fine and great but what $&@! am I supposed to wear? We’re not going dressy (just not us), more jeans and top look. He wants to wear a sort of Hawaiian shirt that has black palm trees on a beige/brown background. What would coordinate with that?

I don’t have anything dark green but of course have plenty of black. I was worried it might be too dark though.

Hey Laura! I'm sure your engagement photos will be absolutely beautiful! It will also be a great opportunity to work with your photographer before your wedding.
It's important to be comfortable in whatever you choose to wear, especially if you are going for a casual look. What would your usual day-to-day outfit be?
You're lucky that if your FH wears a shirt that is black and beige, almost any color that you could pick will go with it. If you'd like to choose a neutral tone, but feel like black is too dark, then what about white?

I look awful in white! (Says the girl with the ivory dress!) I’ve been rethinking my aversion to black. I have an old black dress (not faded), it’s t-shirt material, kinda, knee length with short sleeves. Super comfy , conveying the FL August heat. I may do that, maybe with a statement necklace?
