What to put on a registry?

I would consider putting a range of items at different price points on the physical registry. Some people don't care for cash registries since asking for money is traditionally considered inappropriate. Others don't like the idea of giving cash as a wedding present, finding it too impersonal. It's also offputting IMO that there are middleman fees and deceptive marketing in some cases to make people think their money is going towards something specific.

A registry is supposed to be your personal list of things you need for the home that people have to "discover" or search by word of mouth or on an objective website. If guests want to gift money to you in some form they know how to do that without the middle man. Super traditionally, registries themselves are not approved of but these days, most people consider them a convenience.

As for what to put on a registry, there is always something. Check out common registries such as Amazon, Williams Sonoma, Crate and Barrel, etc. and look at other couples' registries if you want ideas. You can usually just put in a common last name. There are also lists you can google. Serveware, baking dishes, small appliances, place settings, glasses, linens, place mats, kitchen organization items and tools, photo frames, storage containers etc. are all typical choices.

I was wondering the same the other day. I am the type of person that feels bad about asking for stuff so I didn't want to do a registry or a cash fund. I would like to but feel too strange about asking people to get me things just because I am getting married.

As mentioned above highly recommend you put items of varying price points (often times if something isn't purchased off your registry you ll get a discount if you decide to purchase it yourself, this tends to happen with store registries like Macys not sure about Zola or similar). It's also a nice time to upgrade things you may already have. Below is a list that may be helpful .
