What to get a couple with no registry

Jake, on February 22, 2023 at 8:52 PM Posted in Registry 0 7
So 2 friends of mine (became friends with them as a established cuppl) are finally getting married (long story but it's been getting pushed back over and over for a few years now) the catch is they've lived together for many years have multiple kids and even a trucking company together so typical newly weed gifts to "start a home" are over a decade to late lol, I'd like to get a real gift and not just cash though that would be the best and I'll probably throw some in aswell but would like to give them something aswell, suggestion from them was "adult toys" ya I know theyed actually appreciate them but would rather something that can be opened in front of their family's (kids including) any suggestions?

Honestly, I’d just give them the cash and a thoughtful note in a card. This way they can buy whatever it is they want/need. I feel like buying adult toys for someone is a little awkward, as that is such a personal and intimate thing.

Completely agree with Hannah. Give them cash and let them get what they want/need. The suggestion of adult toys is just odd.

No registry = monetary or no gift.

Unpopular opinion but not every social circle gives cash gifts or honeymoon donations. Many who choose not to have registries for unknown reasons will receive physical gifts they do not want and cannot return. Some couples are taught to erroneously believe that registering is not allowed or acceptable for anyone who has lived together for any period of time beyond moving in together and getting married in a whirlwind. Anyone can register so they should not let that stop them. But it will prevent getting a ton of gifts that cannot be returned: personalized items with names, as an example. But if they choose not to register, there really is no gift option.

I would recommend getting them a gift that's something they can do together! It could be a fun, local activity, maybe a couples massage/spa package, or even concert tickets or date night in a box kind of thing so they can have some time to enjoy each other kid-free!

Think about things they enjoy doing together and pull your inspiration from there. I'm sure that any gift you decide to go with will be very much appreciated!

Definitely they want money. But just because they don't have a registry doesn't mean you can't buy them a physical gift. Just don't be shocked if they opt to return it.

But definitely don't buy them adult toys as a wedding gift. Feel free to give that at the bachelorette if that's your jam, though.

Thank you all for the suggestions it seams cash is generally the most popular suggestion and don't worry the "toys" is kinda a inside joke thing more than anything lol he had just mentioned it when I asked him for ideas on a gift and it would probably get a laugh but I don't actually think it would be appropriate as a gift either
