What to call the "welcome Party" ?

Apryl, on March 13, 2020 at 3:44 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 10

I am having a Welcome Party the evening before the wedding after the rehearsal dinner. But I don't want to call it a "welcome party" or "welcome reception/event" because it is going to be super casual, at my local community center, buffet style- probably bbq or taco bar. What have you all named your welcome party?

If it’s casual I’d call it a welcome party!

We called ours a welcome happy hour (5-7pm). You just just call it “welcome bbq” or “welcome taco night”

But also I agree welcome party is fine and doesn’t imply that it’s formal

Welcome happy hour? That's what we are going with lol. We are just planning on everyone meeting for drinks after our dinner at a bar connected the rehearsal dinner restaurant.

We're calling ours a Welcome Party and it's super informal, just dessert in the lobby of the hotel our guests are staying at! I don't think it implies that it has to be super formal Smiley smile

Welcome gathering, welcome dinner. I’m inviting others to join us for rehearsal dinner at the pizza joint.

Ours is super low key at the same restaurant we are having our rehearsal dinner at. On our invitations we aren't calling it anythings, just inviting them to join us for drinks. I think on our website we are naming it a welcome reception or welcome party. Personally, I don't think welcome party makes it sound more formal.

I just called it a welcome party. I think that implies causal , versus the formal counterpart— rehearsal dinner.
