Welcome Dinner

Pat, on May 5, 2023 at 10:40 PM Posted in Parties and Events 1 8

Ya'll, if you are debating whether or not to do any kind of pre-wedding dinner I am here to tell you ... DO IT!!! (if it is in your budget.) I am still 'flying high' from our Welcome Dinner. EVERYONE had a blast and said how much they enjoyed getting to meet a lot of people before the actual wedding. My FH and I got to talk to EVERYONE we really really love and care about --- for 3 uninterrupted hours. It was a simple buffet, with about 25 people - these are friends who all flew in from out of state to be with us. I am so so glad I planned this, as now the pressure is off to make sure we don't miss visiting with everyone. OMG ..... not sure I'll sleep tonight, but LOLOL Again, if it is in your budget I highly recommend this. (and it came in under $1200)

I agree! My parents did one the night before since most of their relatives and friends were coming from out of town. It was fun and a chance to give speeches because we didn't want too many speeches at the wedding. Here's my sister giving hers!

Yay! I am so glad you had such a wonderful evening with your loved ones! And I have to agree about hosting a welcome dinner. If it’s within the budget, it’s totally worth it! We did one as well, and it was so much fun! Our guests really appreciated it, and it provided an additional opportunity to make great memories with everyone.

Awesome that everyone had such a fun time at the welcome dinner!! And what a good deal - that cost sounds very reasonable. Great photos!

So glad the welcome dinner was a success! I agree it can be a great way to have extra time with people you don’t see all the time. I would still prioritize getting around to everyone to thank them for coming at the wedding itself. The extra quality time was a big plus, of course! Best wishes and much happiness.

That pre-event dinner sounds wonderful. It seems to match what can happen in a rehearsal dinner but with a few extra guests.

Most rehearsal dinnners we attend would probably be better described as welcome dinners, since they include all the out of towners as well as the immediate family and wedding party. They can range in size but some have been as big in size as an average wedding!

The cost was EXTREMELY reasonable, as downtown Sarasota is such a touristy area prices can be insane. I think that is why I strongly suggest people investigate non-traditional places for parties. Ours was held in the Cabaret of a 4 theater (stage) complex, where I work as a costume over-hire.

Dag nabit Pat, I have been trying to send you an inbox message for hours now and it won't go through! (I will keep trying!!)

I saw your message on my long-winded response to the questions regarding venues!! How serendipitous is it all!!? (It gets even more so, which you'd read about IF my dang message would send to you!!)

I came across this post of yours and again, same path it seems. Fiance and I wanted to include something special for others, besides all the other specials- and are holding a smaller WELCOME supper for those who are spending the full weekend for our wedding! We don't have a wedding party (Who needs one? LOL) besides my little nephew as ring stealer... I mean... Bearer. So, no rehearsal is necessary, thankfully. (Wink) Still, having people gather intimately was one of our must do's. Thanks again for posting! Reassurance all the way!

You look so full of Joy in the pictures you have shared with us!! It just pops out of the photos and is felt- for sure. I am so happy for you both Pat!

Keep checking your inbox love! Eventually I will get this dang message to send.

    Smiley atonished
