We don't have a registry yet...

Caitlyn, on June 20, 2019 at 11:22 AM Posted in Registry 0 9

...and our wedding is 85 days away. Is that bad?

We just got our wedding website up, and order invitations (which will be sent out in the next two weeks).

Our problem is deciding between the typical registry or honeymoon fund. We've combined our houses last year and don't need much in the way of housewares; however, upgraded knives and cookware could be nice. We're also planning on going to Thailand and New Zealand for our honeymoon and I think contributions there would be nice. Experience over stuff, right? What are you thoughts!

You can do both types. I opted for a honeymoon fund for the same reason of not really needing stuff

Agree with op, you can definitely do both! Zola offers all these options for great houseware stuff & for experiences & honey-fund.
And no, it’s not bad. You don’t technically need a registry before sending invites anyway.

We are 72 days out and also don't have a registry. I'm not doing one unless my church decides to throw a shower.

Good to know! That gives me some relief. I was in panic mode...over gifts, which is a little absurd in my book... 85 days and counting!

As long as you have your registry up by the time guests start receiving their invitations, you'll be fine. Nobody is going to purchase a gift before they get the invite!

I'd have it set up before invites go out. You could always do a cash registry & a traditional one. Some guests (like myself) prefer to give a physical gift rather than cash.

Do both! As long as it's done by the time invites are mailed that's okay.

We did both—Honeyfund & a few retail registries. That way, guests could choose.

If you can get them done soon, that might be a good idea. Guests might ask where are you registered once they get their invites (don’t include registry info on your invites or website because it’s presumptuous. Wait for guests to ask).

We did both. I owned my own home before we met so when we moved in together, we had a house full and don't really need much. We set up a registry on Amazon for things such as bedding, towels, a few kitchen things, etc. and we also have a honeymoon fund on our website. We made a details card stating (in a non-jerk way lol) that we preferred cash but also had a registry for those that preferred to give a gift.
