Vow renewal

Nicole, on July 13, 2025 at 2:18 PM Posted in Married Life 1 1
My husband and I are in the early stages of planning a vow renewal for our 10 year anniversary (possibly, might do a later anniversary to give us some more time lol), and I just wanted to get an idea of what’s “appropriate”. We’d like to do something a little more elaborate, wedding dress and a ceremony where we (of course) renew our vows followed by a big party with a caterer and everything. Photographer and all that. Do I need a bridal party? Is it inappropriate to have one? Need some do’s and don’t’s!

Vow renewals are similar to weddings in that they are completely up to you! You can do a full wedding with all the good stuff, a bridal party, a procession, new or original vows, rings, flower girl and the whole nine yards. The beautiful thing about a vow renewal is that it can be whatever you want it to be, and since it's not an expectation (like an original wedding) where there are traditions and standards, there are no rules. You can use it as an excuse to host a gala, as a precursor to another honeymoon, or have a whole second wedding with the things you couldn't afford or pull off the first time around or with a completely new aesthetic, vibe and theme. There really are no expectations.

Honestly, the biggest consideration is let your guests know which anniversary you are celebrating so they can plan for the related gift (if applicable) (10th - tin/aluminum).

I hope you have an absolute blast planning the occasion. Happy pre-anniversary! Smiley smile
