Unique bridal shower gift

Renee, on December 20, 2021 at 12:24 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 11

To those who have had their bridal shower already- what was your favorite gift you received that wasn't on your registry? Im looking to purchase a unique gift for a friend's shower!

This might be an unpopular opinion, but unless she’s your best friend and you KNOW what she’d want as a unique gift, I wouldn’t do this. Brides create a registry for a reason. As a bride when I married my first husband, the only thing I got that I loved that was personalized was a jersey with my new married name on the back. The other non-registry gifts we got ended up donated. As a friend, I bought my best friend a framed print of the sound waves of their first dance song because they hang a lot of artwork in their house and she’s obsessed with their song.

I honestly did not like any of the gifts that were given off registry, and donated all of them. I hate if that sounds rude, but it’s the truth!

The only off-registry item we kept was a handmade quilt - which doesn't fit our bed, but his great aunt gave it to us. Everything else either got donated or thrown out. I agree with PPs - stick to the registry.

The only thing I got off registry was a personalized hanger for my dress, which I loved! But I had expressed wanting one.
I wish someone had gotten us something with our new name on it, like a sign for the house or something cute like that. No one did. If she’s changing her name and likes stuff like that that might be a cute idea.
But as others have said I wouldn’t stray from her registry unless it’s something you know she will absolutely love!

One of my co-workers (we’ve become closer over the past year) just had her bridal shower. I bought one of the items on her registry, and then included a gold Art Deco-inspired frame (she loves to check out antique stores) and luggage tags with quotes about travel from famous authors (she’s a writer) for her. She loved them and is already using them (yay!), but I was the only one that bought some items not on her registry.

It is a bit weird but mine was a beautiful journal and the friend wrote a thoughtful note abt using this as a sound board when the wedding things get too emotional

I didn't have a bridal shower. I decided to skip on that because we had a small wedding and just wanted to save what we can for the actual day of. We did have a registry but nobody bought anything from there for our wedding which was fine because we honestly didn't need anything lol.
However, when I went on my trip with my girls for my bachelorette, my girls (there were 4 of them) gave me gifts so it kinda felt like my bridal shower.

One of my girls gave me a blue pull over sweater that said Wifey in the front and then on one of the sleeves by the wrist it said Mrs. Robertson. And there were hidden Mickey's because I love Disney. It was just so cute and I loved it.

I love the hidden Mickeys! Did you incorporate hidden Mickeys into your wedding decor as well?

I sure did! Smiley smile I added some hidden mickeys in my bouquet, my nails, on some signs, on each centerpiece, and some on my cake. I made sure that it wasn't too flashy of course since my main theme was rustic with a dusty blue color scheme.

I would not gift off the registry. This way you know what the couple needs and that's the best.

That said I got two off registry gifts that I love but, only because they fit us. We hadn't registered for toasting glasses that she got while she was at Disney (I'm Disney obsessed and the wedding was Disney theme) and a bottle of champagne. I love them and use them a lot (they have swirls and mickey heads and say happily ever after at the base). The other gift was from my grandma who made us a quilt (which I kind of expected ahead of time because she's an amazing quilter and made us grandkids PJ pants and quilts a lot as kids.) It was beautiful and she embroidered our names and our date with Mickey and Minnie heads into the corners.
